Millenium Force is repaired and running!

As of Monday morning, June 1st, Millenium Force is back up and running, and with passengers.

This really can't be done as a news story, since nothing has been confirmed by CP. They really don't like to talk about when things go wrong. They just say "It's down for mechanical reasons and will reopen as soon as possible"

What APPEARS to have happened is this: (WARNING: slightly educated speculation ahead) It looked like the return cable on the catch car broke, causing the catch car to freeroll to the end of it's track on the downward side of the lift hill. At the end of the track, it appears to have come somewhat out of it's track, making for a picture that looked like Something Very Bad had happened.

Did I mention that this is just speculation and that the only thing for certain is that MF was "down for mechanical resons and will reopen as soon as possible?"

Again, my SPECULATIVE sources say that it appears that some sections of the catch car track were repaired/replaced, the cable (obviously) and that the catch car itself may have been replaced. Given the nature of the breakdown/incident, there would certainly have been damage to the catch car.

At any rate, it's repaired and running today, and barring any further "down for mechanical reasons and will reopen as soon as possible," it will be up and running for Coastermania this weekend., which is good, because it will be my daughter's first trip, and she was looking forward to riding it.

Good thing they got it up. Now wait and see what major coaster or ride is down because of the curse of CoasterMania.

When I went opening day they had problem with the cable and had to "manually" pull it back down to the car/station. I waited an hour and a half, and would have been on had i been earlier in line that 4 other people.

How about TTD and it's problems. Opening day, and for the two weeks of testing before it, they couldn't get the cars over the hill consistently. On opening day it ran maybe, just MAYBE 40 people per hour and if not less...what a bummer, i never got to ride it. It sounds like there could be major problems with TTD this year if nothing has changed yet.

Did they ship all the Intamin stuff in the same sea box/air cargo? Six Flags on the Book reports Kingda Ka is back as well. It supposedly was struck by lightning awhile ago.

I rode MF on the 17th, and we were stuck up at the top of the hill for about 30 seconds or so...but I'm glad to see it is fixed.

I am glad that it is back up an running. From my experience it seems that when Millennium Force goes down, it goes down hard. I wish it would have been up for my visit though! Three days late Cedar Point! I was there May 28-29. The park seemed to really be struggling with downtime on Friday the 29th. At one point, Maverick, Top Thrill Dragster, and (obviously) Millennium Force were down. Corkscrew and Magnum had some issues with intermittent downtime. Really disappointing actually with how crowded the park was Friday.

Jerry, I'm pretty sure MF had it's "incident" during pre-opening testing on Friday

Looks like the cable snapped on the front side after dropping the car. Kinda weird they wouldn't have the cable car track blocked to avoid this kind of thing, seeing as how it could do damage if the situation got ugly.

Quick cable fix and inspection and the things up and running. May look bad but those guys at CP know what they're doing.

Im going next thursday, so I really wanted it to be open. As you can see I haven't been on for a while, I just got out of school for the summer. I've been having a sore throat lately, I'm hoping it goes away, should I still go to Cedar Point if I still have it by Thursday or not. I don't think it will affect me, but then again I've never really gone to a theme park with a sore throat.

Only thing that can hurt you is if you yell or talk the whole day on and off rides. Keep as quiet as possible and it will have pretty much no affect. It'll just be like any other day.

But will it make me sick on the rollercoasters if I go on with one?

It should have no effect, unless you yell on the ride and make your throat worse. I cannot wait to ride MF for my first time soon. I know it doesn't break down a lot, but all coasters have it once in a while.
