12/21 NFL Week 16

The Philadelphia EAGLES go down to Washington for a 4 o clock. Washington is 7-7 and near the edge of really being out of it. Philadelphia has to win out and needs Minnesota's help. I didn't realize I needed Atlanta to lose last week. Tampa plays the Chargers. Atlanta plays Minnesota so this is week the EAGLES could use the help of those two losing because the last week Tampa and Atlanta play St. Louis and the Raiders. The chances of those two beating the Rams and Raiders the last week are pretty good.

Come on ticked Baltimore. Spank Dallas. After a terrible game against Dallas maybe the Gee ants will get pounced by Carolina.

Philadelphia should handle Washington. They're just not the same team that they were in Weeks 2-8. If Philadelphia and Dallas win this week, that final game will be huge. But hopefully not huge enough to get flexed to SNF in Week 17 instead of Dolphins-Jets. If Dolphins-Jets gets moved to Sunday Night, I probably will get to see Titans-Colts on TV.

Woot! Colts play one good quarter out of four and lock in a playoff slot.

Best moment in the game? After the Keiwan Ratliff interception, during the runback, Bob Sanders throws a great block on a Jags O lineman.

Hey bud, if you're wanting to know the license number of the truck that hit you, it was 21.

I hope and pray the Panthers can pull this out.

That will be the best Christmas present I can ask for this year. Although I still want the other stuff too.

#1 seed. Wow.

I know I usually make fun of Carowinds for his love for anything Charlotte/Carolina...but wow...Steve Smith is an amazing player, and is possibly the most enjoyable player to watch.

I would like to watch Smith run all over the Giants.

Baltimore - beat Dallas tomorrow. I'll be at a bar supporting a friend that became a new radio intern. I hope to see good stuff on the tvs.

Carolina - make them look like Gee-aints.

Yeah, Steve Smith is outstanding. I really hope Carolina just tears into New York and beats them 52-0. Haha. In all seriousness, I really would like to see Carolina put a big whoopin' on them. Nothing makes my week better than knowing that a Manning got beat on SNF.

Usually I'd be accepting we would get blown out without Haynesworth. But this year, our depth is a lot better. Even with Haynesworth out, Vanden Bosch out, and Vickerson suspended, every single defensive lineman has stepped up this year.

Dave Ball and Jacob Ford have combined for 10.5 sacks in Vanden Bosch's spot when he was out for 7-8 games. Jason Jones has come in strong as a rookie and sometimes even needs to be double teamed. Tony Brown has been much better this year and seems to always be in the backfield. Jevon Kearse looked like "The Freak" of old in the last few weeks, constantly beating the tackle he's been matched up against and creating pressure.

The only other defensive linemen we have for this game are Amon Gordon (who we just signed off our practice squad) and William Hayes. I don't know much about Gordon, but Hayes really needs more time to develop. Even when we're healthy, I don't think he should be getting the snaps he has been getting. He simply looks confused out there and rarely even beats the offensive lineman he's matched up against.

Hopefully we just rotate Ball, Ford, Jones, Brown, and Kearse around, hoping to create matchup problems and not having to worry about blitzing too much.

I hope Texas Stadium goes out with a loss. It's the only sports stadium I never cared to go look for. I even stayed in the same town as it.

Vikings are going to add another win - and clinch the playoff birth. If the Panthers beat the Giants, and the Vikings beat the Giants - number two seed! It's gonna happen and the only way im going to be dissapointed is if everything that I just said, doesn't happen.

Thank you Coach Harbaugh and Jersey native Joe Flacco. I enjoy watching the Ravens deliver the shots to the Cowboys at a bar I went to.

My parents (die-hard Dallas Cowboys fans I might add) were at the final game ever played at Texas Stadium. They go to at least one game every season and next year they will get to see the games at the new Cowboys Stadium.

The new Stadium will be located in the city of Arlington (midway between Fort Worth and Dallas) right next door to Six Flags Over Texas and the Rangers' Ball Park, and across the I-30 freeway from Hurricane Harbor. The cost of the new stadium is estimated near $1.5 BILLION, which would make the most expensive sporting/entertainment venue ever built, compared to a meager $35 million cost to build the Texas Stadium in 1971.

Texas Stadium, which I have passed by many times, is located in the city of Irving, a suburb located immediately west of Dallas; it's future is currently uncertain. My guess is that it will just remain (inactive) there for a while, just as the Astrodome in Houston is just standing there.

I've been pondering this since I heard about the new stadium: If the Cowboys and Texas Rangers were to host their respective games on the same day that SFOT and Hurricane Harbor are open, I can only imagine a traffic gridlock of epic proportions if that were to happen, which can be a real possibility.

I'm whistling this morning like the BP gasoline commercials. Yes, I'm quite disappointed in the possible quality of life issue around our beloved SFOT when there is a Dallas game going on. The Texas Rangers stadium has one of the most boring looking exteriors I ever looked at. I guess this Giant Football in the Dirt will shed some style points onto it. Jerry, How can God look down on his team if there's a Giant hockey like screen hanging from the ceiling blocking His view? But then again I believe He could just sit on a bead of sweat on a Dallas cheerleader's uniform if He really wanted to.

There is a grim seriousness to the EAGLES-Washington game today. We have to win every game out. Washington is capable of slipping in an upset so very on the alert we must be. We need Minnesota and San Diego help today. Today is the only real shot of help. There are former EAGLES coaches on both teams. Help us out buds.

I love how ESPN keeps talking about how we're going to need to keep in a tight end to hope to hold James Harrison to under 3 sacks. Do they even realize that we may have the best left tackle in the NFL today, Michael Roos, who hasn't given up a sack this year, while going up 1-on-1 with every DE or 3-4 OLB that he's matched up against? Nah, they probably haven't, so they can go back to calling the Steelers defense the greatest ever, ha.

Besides the much better seat on a cheerleader, God is better than Superman, so I'm sure he can manage to see through it.

I gotta find some way to get to Dallas next season. I don't care how much debt I create, that just makes me more American, LOL.

And Jason Jones filled in quite nicely for Albert Haynesworth, 3.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles. Our defense couldn't get the pressure that it usually does without teams having to put 2 or 3 guys in to block Haynesworth, but our defensive line still did a great job without him and Vanden Bosch. Michael Griffin had two great interceptions, including the dagger on that 83-yard touchdown return.

We also played great on the offensive side of the ball, becoming the first team this year to gain over 300 yards against the Steelers this year. Kerry Collins was cool under pressure and Justin Gage and all the other receivers stepped up big. The wind also played a huge factor in play calling and our offense converted on some big 4th downs.

And at the end, Lendale White and Bo Scaife stomped on the not-so-terrible towel and Keith Bulluck taped the final score onto it. The Steelers and their fans can complain all they want, but if you bring your towels into our house and lose, then we should be allowed to do whatever you want to your towels.

Great win today, and the road to the Super Bowl in the AFC still runs through the Tennessee Titans!

Dear Terrell Owens,

Does winning really cure everything? Apparently it doesn't, because you lost to the Ravens. Anyway, let me know how that philosophy is working out for you.

Thanks,
-Kyle

Wow, it came down to the last play Reggie Brown just making a catch near the 1 and not breaking the plane for the touchdown. The EAGLES offense was nonexistant today. The defense kept them in it. 10-3 Washington beats Philadelphia.

Is there a way Philadelphia could just try to play spoiler versus Dallas next week? The only remote chance Philadelphia has to get in is to beat Dallas and Oakland Raiders beat Tampa Bay. Quite unlikely on the Oakland part. They did however beat Houston today. They seemed to have cooled off a winning streak as well. The $35 buck Golden State Warriors fan ticket package with the ticket to today's Oakland game would have gotten you a Raiders win.

San Diego helped us by beating Tampa Bay. Baltimore won it last night. It was in your hands to do it Philadelphia. I hate our offensive coordinator. Donovan was throwing it low and behind people. I don't really like LJ Smith. The few shoestrings of playoff hope are just back to a thread again.

Well, I had an almost perfect weekend for the NFL! My Patriots KILLED the Cardinals and Brett Farve and the Jets lost. The only bad thing is that the Dolphins won. Hopefully, we will take Buffalo out next week and Brett Farve will do us a favor and take down Miami, and then everyone will say "2008 AFC East Champions-New England Patriots."

It's tough for me to decide just who I want from the East. I'm not bothered if Miami got it. I want the Jets if they still have a chance.

I don't think anybody talks Denver here so I hope San Diego keeps their roll.

I'm all for my team, of course, but if Miami takes it, I'm not gonna be mad. Pennington deserves every bit of it, in my book. I mean he got traded and took the worst team in the NFL last year and has made them into serious threats for the AFC.

I thought the game was in Charlotte and the NFL shield on the 50 yard line helped convinced me it was for a few seconds. We had this conversation about the NFL shield on Carolina's field last year. They should get some balls though and finally get their cat logo on the 50 yard line in the future.
