12/28 NFL Week 17

Final Week of the Regular Season!!! The EAGLES need to throw the kitchen sink and beat their nemesis Dallas Cowboys! They need the help of the Oakland Raiders over the Buccaneers if they have any shot for the playoffs. It's quite laughable but anything is possible.

Panthers head to New Orleans for the last week. I'd like to see them rebound and win to clinch that #2 seed and a first round bye.

Here's what I see happening.

Panthers choking against the strong Saints, and the Falcons breezing to victory against St. Louis, then clenching the division and first round by.

But that's just me.

And me. However, I would not call the Panthers losing to the Saints a choke. The Panthers are a mediocre team on the road (3-4, beat San Diego, Oakland, and Green Bay) and the Saints are great at home (6-1, lost to Minnesota since their defense choked) and Drew Brees will be looking to break Dan Marino's record this week. Combine that with the possible absence of Ma'ake Kemoeatu for Carolina and this looks like a great matchup for New Orleans. You saw what the Giants offense did to the Panthers defense last week, so I'm confident that Drew Brees and Pierre Thomas will shred that defense.

Has everyone forgotten the history that will unfold this weekend?
Never in the long illustrius history of the NFL has anyone even approached this outstanding feat. By this time Sunday, the DETROIT LIONS will have the perfect season...

^ Had one play gone slightly differently in their narrow loss to the Texans, their perfect streak might have ended prematurely, while our perfect losing streak would have continued. We were very fortunate to come away from that game with the win.

If the NFL moved Patriots-Giants to Saturday night last year so people can possible see history being made, why not Lions-Packers? I'm sure people would be intrigued until Green Bay gets up by three scores.

That is hilarious man. Best Brett Farve hit I've heard in awhile. Definitely telling that one to my family tomorrow. That's sure to stir up all my Brett Farve crazed cousins. Thank you, Jimmy, thank you.
You just made my day.

The only reason the Vikings vs Saints game was even close was because Reggie Bush returned two punts!

Anyways, the Vikings will beat the Giants this week and go into the playoffs. Even though the Giants coach said he would play his starters, I doubt they play for more then one half. The Vikings are a very physical football team and after a few hits to Eli, he should be yanked.

Green is getting EAGLES gear on Christmas (Eve for us Polish folks).

Hopefully on the Third Day of Christmas I receive the Third Annual EAGLES victory over Dallas in December.

JCPenney is good for affordable retros. For current jerseys they'll cheat you out a shoulder number so I don't go to them for that. I just got Ron Jaworski for $42 so my current jersey count is at 9: Cunningham, White, Joyner, Jaworski, McNabb, Westbrook(blue/yellow), Westbrook, Trotter, Unspoken banned person who talks about "Bringing the Popcorn" whose jersey I will never wear again. I'm surprised I didn't burn it when all the other fans did and had the funeral.

I will agree with the Chargers linebacker here. Yes, Jay Cutler is a punk.

Leo, that's a pretty impressive jersey collection. I only have 5: Two Peyton home jerseys, Bob Sanders, Peyton UT Jersey, and I just got Dallas Clark yesterday from my mother-in-law.

It kind of sucks that tomorrow's Colts-Titans game is going to be Vince Young/Jim Sorgi battle. I understand that the game has zero playoff implications for neither these teams, nor any others, but I'd really like to see the Colts extend the streak of 12 win seasons.

Since we're all speaking about jerseys now, the ones I have are two Steve McNair jerseys (one home, one away), Bruce Matthews (yes, an offensive lineman), Eddie George, Jevon Kearse, Lendale White, Chris Johnson, Michael Roos (yes, another offensive lineman), Michael Griffin, Cortland Finnegan, and Vince Young. Maybe I would have been better off just saying a lot..

And I can't wait to see some of the backups tomorrow. I've always wanted to see Quinton Ganther in real game action, as he looked like a guy that could really be a quality starter in this league in the preseason, even though we took him in the 7th round. Seeing Chris Simms for the first time in a Titans uniform should also be interesting. Maybe he can hook up with Lavelle Hawkins for a touchdown, "The Hawk" showed great stuff in limited action this year, in the preseason, and college but we want to let him go through another training camp before he could get more time.

Also, if it's Vince Young against Jim Sorgi for most of the game, we should be doing well. Young seems like he's motivated to play whenever he can and even though he only threw 2 or 3 passes in the Lions game, he made a great throw down the field to Hawkins (but it was called back) and showed that he is willing to move out of the pocket again, something he rarely did after his injury last year.

What's wrong with an offensive lineman? Now that I have Dallas Clark, the next one I need is my choice for MVP of Super Bowl XLI- Jeff Saturday.

I'm a huge fan of Peyton, but that game was played on natural grass, in the rain, against a team with a good defense. The Colts wore white, and at the end of the game, Peyton's jersey was still clean- the O line is the MVP, and Saturday is the captain of the O line.

Because the only time I've ever seen anyone wear an offensive lineman's jersey would be of the guy you just mentioned, Jeff Saturday. I mean, Bruce Matthews isn't all that odd since he is a Hall of Famer and a center, but people are going to have no clue who Michael Roos is when I wear his jersey. He's been our best pass blocker, not giving up a single sack and a big part in allowing Kerry Collins to only be sacked 8 times on the year. He and the other tackle (David Stewart) both take on defensive ends 1-on-1 (or when we play 3-4 teams, 3-4 LBs) and allow for there to be no pressure up the middle since Mawae, Amano, and Scott would only have to block 2 players, excluding blitzes. I can't believe he didn't get a starting role in the Pro Bowl thanks to Jason Peters (who may be the worst tackle in the NFL this year).

Steelers took second place as of today. Ben is out with a concussion. He was sent off the field on a stretcher and head taped down. Last I heard he was at an area hospital getting checked out.

All I can say is thank god for a bye week and hope to god he isn't badly injured.

Thank god for our backup too at least he isn't an idiot!

What a sad day in Browns history overtaking the Bears and having 24 consecutive quarters without an offensive touchdown. Me thinks Romeo is resigning tonight or tomorrow.

From what I heard from my mom, they asked him to step down during the game. Not sure if its true or not.

Hopefully we can see some changes next year. Honestly its hard to stand by this every year...

As I sit here in Week 17, I am not even sure the Dallas Cowboys could beat Detroit the way they are playing. Lots of exciting games, but the Cowboys are definitely playing worse than I could have imagined.

I cannot wait to watch Sportscenter tonight, and listen to Tony Romo and T.O. walk around interview questions about how they suck and instead discuss other irrelevant things.

Couldn't be any more perfect. You got your wish Jerry Jones. Everyone will be talking about the Cowboys...talking about how much they suck.
