| January NHL
What a way to ring in the New Year with the Winter Classic at Wrigley Field. The Detroit Red Wings took down the Blackhawks 6 to 4. Hope everyone got to watch it, the event was real good, and improvement over last years game, and paves the way for some more outdoor games to come. The Sharks have fallen off the high horse and seem to be struggling as of late, losing to the Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues. 2009 should be a interesting season, no sloppy seconds! And Mats Sundin signed with the Vancouver Canucks...wtf?

I remember a while ago saying that Ovechkin needs to stop taking runs at people...I guess I was right: And still, Sidney Crosby does not know how to properly fight...right off the face off he just goes after the Panther...

For what its worth Ovechkin apologized for what happened and thankfully Heward only suffered a concussion, no neck injury. Heward is a former teammate and friend of Alex's so he obviously did not intend to injure anyone, and it was not a particularly violent hit as far as that type of play goes. The league recognized that Ovechkin did not leave his feet or go head hunting on Heward or anything like that, and Heward made the unfortunate mistake of bending his head downward by the boards which helped make the end result what it was. The lightning organization and most importantly Heward both recognize it was not an intentional or dirty play. Heward commented that Ovechkin was a clean, honest player. Heward: Ovechkin not a dirty player So I dunno if I'd call it "taking runs at people", thats the type of thing Colby Armstrong does, or Ruutu, and they have nothing but ill will intended for the person he's going after. As far as Crosby goes, I'd say the fact that both teams involved in his last two "fights" (the ball/ars punching and more recent sucker punching of the face off) have described it as pathetic says all you need to know about that. He's a joke. Much like the Pens lately. Also, this was easily the most hilarious fight I've seen ever. Semin is not a fighter, and it shows... lmao

The Flyers win a shootout lose a shootout. They were just in Anaheim last night. I watched some action versus the Kings. That lineup for the AllStar game is heavy on the host Canadiens in players.

| Yeah and its a disgrace to any person that isn't a Canadiens fan. Some no-name won over Mike Green and Kimmo Timonen? Ridiculous.

Sundin is going to play with Vancouver now? The Flyers just finished a 6 game road trip out West. Tonight they faced the Washington Capitals with the best Eastern home record and came out with at least a point in a 2-1 shootout loss. They were productive against Anaheim and Los Angeles out West. The team is banged up; The Fly-ER. I did watch a good portion of the Winter Classic. It was the first where it wasn't an ESPN highlight for me.

Pretty great game tonight! No offese Leo C, but I hate flyers fans who come to VC second only to Pens fans, so I love seeing the Caps win at home and watching them quietly make their way home. ![]() Given the Flyers injury situation of late I wish it wasn't as close as it was, but Biron always seems to look like an all star against us...

I just learned that new Center name. I was still caught on MCI Center. I doubt anyone is lost on Philly's but it went from Corestates Center to First Union to Wachovia (to probably soon Wells Fargo) Center.
