March 2009 NBA

I have to watch the Sixers tonight. They will host the Chicago Bulls in their old home, the Spectrum, tonight to celebrate the last game they will play in that arena before it will be demoed in the off season. The court will be a recreation of the 82-83 season Championship team court. Most of the Championship team will be in attendance, including Dr. J. - Julius Erving. Maurice Cheeks opted not to attend after recently being fired by the Sixers as head coach. The Sixers and the Flyers have played now 13 years in their current home next door, the Wachovia Center.

The Sixers thought they finished out the Spectrum with a loss in April 1996. The building marked my early years of following the Sixers. They won tonight, closing out the Spectrum 104-101 over the Bulls. : )

There are about a dozen games left in the regular season....The LA Lakers are solidly in the lead in the West and have the division title already. Cleveland, Orlando, and Boston respectively are #1, #2, #3 in the East.

Let me also say that I don't like how they reverse the jersey colors on certain games -- meaning on certain nights, home wears dark and road team wears light. They need to just stay with traditional light at home and dark on the road and not ever reverse it.

I'll poke my head in here for a post and say the Bobcats are awesome. The Bobcats got their franchise high 34th win tonight against the Lakers. A team we have beat 6 out of the last 7 times. I think it's safe to say we own the lakers.

The team is playing for their 1st playoff birth and with 8 games left we are only 1 game out of 8th. I doubt we'd do much cause we would play Cleveland in the first round but hopefully we would get atleast one win. Too bad we can't go all the way to the Finals cause if the Bobcats played the Lakers in the finals we all know LA would go down.

Ok... I think i done. Go Bobcats!!

Close, your Bobcats are 5-5 all time against the LA Lakers. And remember, the NBA Finals are not the regular season....it's a whole new ball game.

Where did the 5-5 stat come from?

The announcers of the game & ESPN said we have won 6 of the last 7 and we are 6-4 all time.

Not that it's a big deal cause it's one game but i think the 5-5 stat is wrong.

I agree that the Playoffs are completely different but even i don't think the Bobcats are good enough to get through the Cavs in the first round. Maybe next year.

EDIT:
Game recap video from NBA.com. Fast foward to about 2:25 into the video. They also mention the Bobcats winning 6 of the last 7 and that the Bobcats and the Celtics are the only 2 teams with winning records against the Lakers.

I know its April, I just wanted to make a short comment...

The Cavs games are getting really predictable. LeBron throws his powder in the air, tipoff, Cavs down early, Cavs come back, Z for three, LeBron dunk (repeat 8 times) Cavs win. Almost as predictable as Bill Goldberg in WCW. Bell rings to start the match, spear, jackhammer, splat, pin.

Since it's looking like the Bulls will face the Cavs in the first round, I'll be rooting for the Bulls. After that, I'll be rooting for the Cavs. Yes, I'm already admitting defeat. Hey, I have to be realistic here.

Ginobili and Iverson are both out for the season with their respective injuries. For the Pistons, this really doesn't mean much, they've been doing pretty well without Iverson. For the Spurs, this is a massive blow; they lost one of their star players and a much-needed veteran play maker in Ginobili. Obviously Roger Mason Jr is going to take his spot in the starting lineup; but let's see how well he can do in Ginobili's place.

Villanova has taken up my basketball attention so I was asleep with the Sixers. Getting beat by NJ only scoring 67 points in this past Sunday's game does not sound good.

For the first time since his rookie year, Shaq will not be in the playoffs; the Suns fall out of playoff contention. The only other time Shaq missed the playoffs was his rookie year back in Orlando. Aside from his four NBA titles, of the 11 other times he was eliminated from the playoffs, six of those eliminations were sweeps....the most of any NBA player in history.

Now that the Suns are out of the playoff race, Shaq does what he always does after ending the season, goes around placing blame on anyone and everyone but himself. And now rumors surround him being traded to another team this summer. Speculations have begun as to where he might end up next season. All the other teams he's played for, he has alienated the players, organization, and the fans upon leaving, he's showing signs of doing the same in Phoenix.
