The way things are going the Flyers might match up in the Playoffs with Carolina or Pittsburgh? Man.

I would love to see a Philly and Pitt. 1st round match up. Let those two teams beat the crap out of each other and knock the other one out... Those 2 are the only teams that worry me in the post season against the caps. haha

Caps are looking at the number 2 slot and might get Montreal, that would be a good match up for them.

People are calling for a Sharks vs. Ducks opening round playoff matchup. Not sure I would like that...Corey Perry is a huge douche...so much of a douche that I can't stand to watch his BS.

The Thrashers created one of the funniest thing's I have seen making fun of Ovechkin. NHL Network Online - Atlanta Thrashers Click bad hockey commercials. There's an article on yahoo NHL, and the Caps coach got pissed.

Of course people in Atlanta wouldn't understand Eastern Motors commercials... They're purposefully made terrible and they always feature DC's best stars. Its their commercial gimmick that they've been doing for more then 10 years now.

Its kind of funny to see they're more concerned about what other famous NHLers have done in their spare time while actually winning, rather then focusing on the fact they will once again miss the playoffs and they have yet to win a post-season game ever in their history. Kovy's bit at the end was funny, though.

Someone is taking that to seriously. It's just something funny that Atlanta did to make fun of the other team. Kovy and Ovechkin are friends. Its no better then you guys constantly showing fans with posters mocking Crosby on the screen at the Pens Vs Caps games. Oh and they have had 2 winning months recently and they have been doing a lot better then they were the first half of the year. Someone else besides Bruce Bordreau needs a sense of humor and not over analyze everything. And its not like they were making fun of only other teams. Army was in it also, who is a Thrasher.

I didn't say it wasn't funny, its a funny idea, I chuckled and enjoy the idea of team's doing stuff like that. The point I was saying is the commercials are intended to be terrible to begin with, so making fun of a commercial that is designed to be terrible is a kind of pointless thing to go after right off the bat.

Oh, they're playing better, thats good to hear I guess. So they have little chance at a top pick anymore but still did terrible enough to have no chance at the playoffs a while ago? Thats good for them I guess.

Of course players in Atlanta don't have to worry about being in commercials, most people down there probably couldn't pick Kovalchuk out of a line-up. Much like it was here in DC for Ovechkin before they actually started winning.

If another team can make videos making fun of a team or player and their fans can act like it was a good diss then I certainly have the right to return the favor by pointing out faults with their video and pointing out why throwing out insults from near the bottom of the standings is pretty funny right from the get go.

I would much rather have Atlanta actually try and play and win games instead of blowing them. Tampa got the #1 pick last year, and look how bad they did this year. Winning gives the Thrashers momentum for next year, attracts more people to games, and by winning proves to Kovy that we are a team that can actually win a game against the big teams, and get him to stay. Do you really think anyone is going to want to play for a failing team? (Not saying you do) but barely anyone outside of Atlanta believes it, but Kovy really does want to stay. Everyone is just ignorant and assume stuff and don't even read the articles when he has nothing but good things to say about the team and how he loves it here and has a family and wants to raise his kids here.

Getting the #1 pick one year doesn't mean anything. Stamkos wasn't going to be a phenom (Crosby/Ovechkin/Malkin like) right out of the gate, but this year they get another top 3 pick, and thats two young just about guaranteed top calibre NHL players in two years. Over the next couple years its going to pay dividends if they draft well. Look at the Penguins and Caps, they drafted well after being in the bottom of the standings for a few years and now are reaping the benefits of having lots of picks and drafting good players.

But being a high draft pick does not automatically mean the player is going to be great. Some teams draft players that end up being failures. The Thrashers first ever overall draft pick (Patrik Stefan) turned out to be one of the biggest busts ever.

Its not a guarantee, but 1-5 pick is certainly historically better then a pick down in the 4th round or something.

Look at Tobias Enstrom. He was a 8th round draft pick and he now is one of our best D along with Zach Bogosian. Yes I know this does not happen often, but there are exceptions.

Yes and a 1-5 pick is historically better then a pick in the later rounds.

The EC teams are matched up.

Bruins vs. Canadians
Capitals vs. Rangers
Devils vs. Hurricanes
Flyers vs. Penguins

If the Flyers win tomorrow they will clinch home ice for the first round. I am actually looking forward to the Phi.-Pitt. match up. It's going to be very dramatic. Also, I hope Phi. can knock Pitt/ and that tool Crosby out of the Playoffs.

I'm there today. Hopefully the Flyers win at the Wachovia Center in my presence to get that Home Ice. Keystone State Matchup - No doubt.

The Philly Pitt match up is gonna be great. The Caps playing Rangers should be a good one as well.

Man, the Flyers lost today to the Rangers. I was there at the Center with my sister. Wow, since you guys made me aware of Avery look who caused all the trouble today like the go ahead goal for the Rangers Yep. I'm glad at the end of the game Hartnell just about got in a fight with him. I took a pic of the despised Avery cause of you guys. So the media told me the Flyers were 10-10-1 going to the last stretch of these games. I can't believe they didn't take this opportunity to get Home Ice for the playoffs. The Rangers were already settled on where they had to go. We had something to play for. Now we have to go to the despicable Igloo that looks like it could be the old CHILLER Observatory at SFGADV. It's a clean slate. Time to the Flyers to hit the ground and start rolling.

Sharks and Ducks- Interesting.

Ken Hitchcock is back in the Playoffs now with the Blue Jackets. Good luck.

Sharks vs. Corey Perry...I mean Anaheim Ducks.

If you guys want to see some physical grit...watch this series.

Wait...who am I kidding. Does anyone else agree that the first round is looking the like best in recent years? You have Boston vs. Montreal, Philly vs. Pitt, and Sharks vs. Ducks.

Draft lottery tomorrow at 8:00pm, with the odds on the Islanders to get the number 1 pick.

Tavares should start looking for a place on Long Island.

I dunno if I would bank on it just yet, Islanders have a better chance but its far from a guarantee.

Top 5 Draft Picks:
5. LA Kings
4. Atlanta Thrashers
3. Colorado Avalanche
2. Tampa Bay Lightning
1. NY Islanders

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2009/...vares_pursuit/
Brian Burke has stated that he will be "wheeling and dealing" to get the number 1 pick. He wants Tavares for the Leafs, and Toronto wants Tavares.

Islanders almost always screw up their pick anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't pick him up.
