I came across the mascot of the minor league Norfolk Tides and it inspired me to ask: at what point do our mascots become muppets, where is the line? Post all of you near-muppet mascot photos here and we will deliberate.

Our most famous mascot in Philadelphia, the Philly Phanatic, does not look like a muppet but he probably looks really ugly to outsiders with his long snout. That's okay because I know he still is the best mascot in sports.

Funny how in Vox's 25 worst, they happen to mention a few mascots that are in the Mascot Hall of Fame. Brutus, Lil Red, Big Red.

Slider is the only representative from the American League. Mr. Met, the Phanatic and of course, the World Famous Chicken. I wonder where Kent State's Flash mascot is... Akron's Zippy won best mascot recently.

I've read somewhere too recently how the San Diego Chicken is its own entity, company now. I read he was never the official Padres mascot.

Mr. Red looked like a killer while Mr. Met looks clueless.
