MLB - June/July 2009

Ryan, it's good to see we're on. Phillies-Blue Jays. Tomorrow, Wednesday, I'm going to the game. The maple leaf on the shoulder looks cool especially since they're Canada's only MLB team now.

The other day it was great to hear the Yankees rocked Santana and the Mets.

I wanted the Tribe to beat Milwaukee last night.

I just turned the game on now. 3-3, top of the 9th, bases loaded, 2 outs for the Jays.
Let's see a grand slam, baby!

Edit - wow, that jinxed it. As soon as I hit submit, he was struck out.

Wow, a 5 run 10th for the Jays.

Tribe has dropped the first 2 to the Brew Crew. "Harry Doyle" threw out the first pitch yesterday as the Indians were celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the making of "Major League." Bob Eucker was actually in the Indians radio booth for a half inning as well. Last night, the Indians of now lost like their movie counterparts, by giving up a big lead with shoddy pitching.

What a great win that was. I think the little fact at the bottom of the screen here said something like Jays are 0-27 for trailing in the 8th, so today broke that record.

BTW, Leo, I love the Jays new jerseys. I bought one earlier this year at half off (Overbay, with his old number) and wear it whenever I can.

The Jays redeemed themselves for having all those runners on base and no runs until we gave them away in the 9th, 10th.

We need all of these wins. I want to see the Jays make the playoffs again, but that's almost impossible in the AL East.

Blows. Phils swept by the O's too. Finally we get a day off before we go to Tampa. We have a better road record.

Jays are able sweep the previous World Series champs but lose two to the Nationals?
What the hell?!

That's why Interleague blows. The Phils run all over the Nationals. The Nationals won the series vs. the Yankees last week.

The only way interleague works next year is to have NL rules in the AL ball parks and vice versa!

In Indians news...Mark DeRosa is no longer a wahoo. He is now a Cardinal after being shipped there for a relief pitcher, Chris Perez, and the coveted "player to be named later". Anyone that is named that should copyright that name.

AJ Burnett and CC Sabathia are beasts. Inconsistent early in the season but really solid as of late.

(Talking to the devil) I guess I want the Yankees to sweep the Mets tonight. : )

The Phillies won their first AL series in June beating the Blue Jays today - finally. I believe the other AL series they won was against the Yankees.

The Mets and Phillies are both doing terrible. They play each other this weekend as well. I wish the Phils got a surge upward before the All Star Break not play dead right into it. It's torture there's still a week to go before the Break if this keeps up.

The NL lost the All Star Game 4-3.

The Phillies picked up Pedro Martinez. I think he is just a band aid. We know they're looking at Toronto's Roy Halladay. The Phils start off their 2nd Half with a win over the Marilns.

Don't even think of taking Doc from us. He still has a year left on his contract, so I hope to God that he and the Jays wait until then to even think about it. Trading him right now would be the biggest mistake the Jays make; he's what brings the crowds (or what's left of them) to the games. Seriously, check out the attendance when he starts, and then when another pitcher starts; it's crazy. The Jays better scrounge up some cash and resign him.

It's been a measure of how much will it break the bank and take of prospects for us. No sure answers.

My father mentioned the Phils could look at teams like Cincinnati and Cleveland. Anyone we should know about Andrew?

Let me be the voice of reason...

Holliday needs to go to a contender. Pedro is worthless for the Phils. It's like Clemens in his last few years...playing part of the season for a contender.

Both of you better keep your hooks off of the Indian's Victor Martinez and Cliff Lee.

Pedro is a band aid so it's only is what it is: being a scavenger/vulture and going for the remains.

Andrew, if a team is already a contender, then they wont need Halladay.

Yes, I'm just being difficult, but I really don't want to see him traded and just have our (already low) dreams of even just a playoff entry get shattered again.

Last week I went to see my grade school friend pitch for an Independent League team, the Sussex Skyhawks. This Friday I watched the AA Reading Phillies. It's a nicer atmosphere than the closer AA Trenton Thunder. This weekend when I found myself in Columbus, Ohio I drove by the Huntington Park, the new home of the AAA Clippers. I listened to the Tribe on the AM on my way home. I even made it up by Progessive Field. By the time I drove by though it was about the 5th inning. I'd love to come back and see a game there. Hopefully they have a better season then though. Ichiro robbed them a tying homerun yesterday.

I've been quiet. 10 game winning streak. I'm most happy about finally getting over .500 at home.

All you can eat weekend against Tampa this weekend. I'll be going Friday since Halladay will be starting. I was going to buy 2 of the all you can eat tickets, but I found a nice little loophole in their online ticketing system and will only have to pay regular price for one of them

On my way to the movies today I saw a TV playing the Jays game and noticed it was 9-2 for us and thought "wow, should've went to the game today."

I got home and notice this on facebook from the Jays fan page:
"Today's ball game was the shame of a city - nay, a nation. Anyway, now's a good time as any to appreciate all of the great fans who have joined this page.. thank you!"
I looked it up and noticed they lost 10-9.

10 to freaking 9 from a 7 point lead. What the hell?

It's the Angels and Phils looking at Roy Halladay. Big stakes in trying to get him. Are the Phils going to get Cleveland's Cliff Lee?

The Phils lost last night to the Cardinals. The Cardinals blew up on the Phils. Tonight it was our turn: winning 14=5. The Cardinals just got Matt Holliday from the A's, formerly of the Rockies.
