NFL Training Camp & Preseason 2009

It's here! Training camp for NFL teams has started. As much as I'm watching the Phils I'm reading articles about the Philadelphia EAGLES coming to Lehigh for the start of another training camp at Lehigh University, not very far from Dorney Park.

Our first game is the 13th of August against the Cardinals. Should be a good season this year. Good luck to all teams.

I'm so ready for the season to start back up. I think the Panthers will have another great year.

Good luck to all teams this year.

^ But the Panthers did have a great season last year; they made it all the way to the NFC Divisional Playoffs -- that was a great accomplishment for them!

Who knows, maybe they might match that again this year. lol

Our long time Defensive Coordinator Jim Johnson had to take a break from the position this off season to battle melanoma cancer. The assistant coordinator took over for this Training Camp and season. Unfortunately our nitty gritty Jim lost his battle today. If we're not in tip top shape defensive wise this season we're not going to see his return.

Your point? They had a great season then performed laughably bad at the NFC Divisional playoffs.

Now i wonder what team will sign Vick. I read somewhere that he can't even start till week 6 or something but can pratice and play in 2 pre-season games.

As long as the Panthers make the playoffs i'm happy. Once their in we'll see what happens from there. A Division Championship is nothing to hang our heads over.

Finally we got our top pick receiver rookie signed.

About the Gee-ants: Is Eli just going to start puberty by the end of his new deal?

The retro jerseys look great for Tennessee with the Houston Oilers look and the Buffalo Bills tonight in the Hall of Fame Game. I wish with the current Buffalo look they never added the dark blue. They should go for a new look maybe.

Not a bad preseason game tonight. The fake punt-TD just shows that Jeff Fisher still is the master of those trick plays.

Vince Young needs to stay on the sideline, IMO. The 3rd-string QB had more completions than him!

Michael Vick is a Philadelphia EAGLE. During the preseason game there was a buzz at the suite behind me. Then a guy a few rows ahead of me got a message. The EAGLES could have went ahead and won the preseason game but they lost 27-25 to the New England Patriots. It made me appreciate just how valuable Koy Detmer was as a 3rd string quarterback that held the ball for David Akers' field goal kicks in the past. Such a great rhythm and positioning that's obvious not as great now with new holder Sav Rocca, the Australian player.

As a fan of NFL football I felt a stomach churning like anyone else when the news of this scandal came out years ago. I believe in the judiciary and prison system of this country quite strongly so I believe the man served his year and a half PUNISHMENT. The law of the land weighed in. Now I believe the man is deserving a chance to turn the page. I would love to turn a page in my life too. I would want Michael Vick to scrap together with what years he could have left. He has the rest of his life to deal with this too. We have an injured 3rd string quarterback. Michael Vick could play so many things on the field if he is able to knock off the rust. My view is what he did was wrong, but he served a proper punishment in time. Let's move on.

With the retirement of Tony Dungy, Jeff Fisher moved up to being my favorite coach in the NFL. So much to like about that guy. But I'm still a Colts fan.

Leo, would you feel the same about Michael Vick if he'd signed with the Cowboys or Giants?

Personally, I think the punishment fit the crime pretty well, he served it quietly, and he was contrite about it when he was released. So, he served his sentence, he feels remorse- he's square with the house as far as I see it. Good luck to him in his attempt to rebuild his career, and more importantly, his life.

I wouldn't have been surprised--kind of beat to the chance if he would have went to the Cowboys because of the previous route taken by that team. A Dallas fan about 10 days ago licked his lips talking about his and that raised my ears because he showed his interest. I never took the possibilities seriously til then. If it was the Gee-ants I would have genuinely been upset - Yes. Boy Eli needs someone to throw to. Brandon Jacobs once again is someone to be concerned about.

If I wore a "Rick Pitino is worse" placard with my Birds shirt down at the Novacare Center(in town practice facility and headquarters) I'd probably get shot today.

The Eagles picking up Vick was a smart move, and I think the majority of Football Fans are willing to get over Vick's past for the sheer sake of football. I'm curious to see how he plays this year.

Since were on the topic of favorite coaches...you can criticize me...but I'm really liking 49ers head coach Mike Singletary. It's about time a no-nonsense coach came along.

We'll see you guys in December. The last time the Niners came to Philly in December was the last season of T.O. in San Fran.

First Dante Stallworth banned.
Then Michael Vick is free and reinstated.
Then Brett Favre retires and immediately unretires (again!)
and now the Plaxico Burress case?

What an off season this has been for the NFL!

Plaxico got 2 years.

There's been some shuffling at Houston's scrimmage I saw on the news.

EAGLES' Defense was terrible today in the a preseason game at Indy.

I already found my first thing to complain about that giant spaceship that hit the ground next to SFOT called Dallas' new stadium: the giant stadium video screens. During coverage of a punt it was annoying to see at the apex of the punt the distracting stadium video screens reach the television viewer at home. There was already a problem with a Tennessee punt hitting the screen. I do support other visiting teams do use hitting Jerry-tron to their advantage.

Normally I don't care about the preseason games; I can care less about who wins or loses. But with my team hosting the Vikings tonight, I am very interested in seeing tonight's game especially how Brett Favre will do.

The EAGLES' front 5 won't be together til the first game. I really don't want another one of those break the rust off first games, especially against the Panthers.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of those AFL anniversary jerseys. A lot of them look better than today's versions. I see the Raiders as an organization of the past. They need to modernize. Buffalo should update their look. It looks like it'll blow the Chiefs will dress as the Texans later in the year with a huge state of Texas on their helmet.

I'm not a coach or anything, but Mangini is looking at three options regarding the starting QB job for the Browns. Brady Quinn, Derek Anderson, or the fact that NEITHER is good. Just name a starter already and deal with the crap later.

Would you guys want our backup QB A.J. Feeley? Depending on when the Commissioner will reinstate Vick we may have some trade bait here in Philly.
