Thumbs up NCAA football Week 2

It's the second week of NCAA football, and we've already seen some craziness with Week 1. BYU beat No. 3 Oklahoma, Boise State wins to make a run for a BCS game, USC wins big, and OSU beats Navy in a squeaker.

But enough about last week. This week we've got USC at OSU, Clemson at Georgia Tech, Idaho State at Oklahoma (can OU really go 0-2?) and Notre Dame at Michigan.

Thoughts? Comments? Smack talk? Go at it. And don't forget to make your picks if you're in Andrew's Yahoo pick 'em.

My only hope is that Georgia stays ranked, and beats South Carolina.

I will be at the Shoe on saturday. It dont look good for osu, but hopefully there A+++ game is on lol. I was listening to a talk show out here a few days back. They were saying how they built the team to have the Big 10 conference . It seems Tressel is being Conservative. Hopefully they step up this time, or they are going to have alot of people and i think including Osu fans here differently about the program.

Check the UM and ND game should be good too.

My 1-0 Wolverines are soon to be 2-0, looking down on the soon to be 1-1 B*ck*y*s.

Ohio State gonna get raped again? I think so.

Also, regarding the Notre Dame-UMich game, GO BLUE!

My team's (hopefully) getting another free win this week (UTexas-Wyoming), so I have to root for my second team (UMich).

I just love how people are over-looking Michigan State right now. Its unbelievable! 2 second-rate has-beens are going at it when the two best teams in the state of Michigan are playing each other. MIchigan beat a horrible Western team because of a horrible defense and the fact that Hiller was God-awful. MIchigan's defense didn't impress me at all.

And then there's Notre Lame. I'm sorry but they played Nevada? And people are so excited about that, why? It still doesn't prove anything to me. At least when I brag about Michigan State they had 9 wins last year and don't have to truly prove themselves. Let's face it, Sept. 19 at Notre Dame Stadium Michigan State will win for the 3rd straight year against Weis, after he said that he would never lose to us "ever again." Oh and may I mention that we'll be going for 7 straight in South Bend, or should I say Spartan Stadium South.

Go Green!

Kentucky has the weekend off, so I'm going all out for Texas this weekend. Shouldn't be too hard to beat Wyoming! I'm more interested in seeing OSU get their butts handed to them by USC at home. I hate both those teams, so I hope they beat the crap out of each other....but OSU is gonna lose, and that will bring me great joy!

Seriously? Are you 7? Come on, you can do better than that.

As for the rest of your post, you're probably right, unfortunately. I'd hate to see another season go down the toilet, but Chuck needs to get the **** out. And he can take that assclown Clausen with him.

Don't blame them though, they have every right to be. I just hope to see a good game. We really need this game. As much as i love to see us pound on um every year, i like to see us to be contenders again.

Yeah, I know that was a pretty weak attempt. My bad. But it still stands that both of these teams shouldn't even be ranked and yet I heard talk on ESPN that after last week Michigan SHOULD HAVE BEEN. I mean honestly. They beat who? And Notre Dame who went 7-5 is higher ranked than Michigan State who went 9-3. I don't understand that logic because last time I checked, we actually upgraded our defense AND we have a better QB, no matter who it is because everyone on the face of the planet is better than Brian Freaking Hoyer. GAH!

Fact: Last year is not this year.

Michigan has already shown themselves to be much better than last year by blowing out Western Michigan.

First, I understand that this year is not last year. But, Michigan State finished the year ranked 23rd in the country AND pulled in a top 25 recruiting class for this year, including 7 4-star recruits. Why do they backslide all the way back to 34 at the beginning of the season? There is no warranted reason for it.

And second, why are you a Michigan fan other than the fact that you're a bandwagon fan. And do you know anything about Western Michigan? I don't think you realize how much their defense SUCKS. I mean, yes, Michigan improved, but that doesn't mean that they should be considered for a ranking! Syracuse is a much much better team than Western and Minnesota beat them on the road. So why isn't Minnesota in the talks for being ranked.

Its a nostalgic system that says the schools that have been in the rankings before should be there and the ones that we've never cared about before shouldn't be here. Michigan State has done everything that is expected of a ranked team and they still aren't. Its absolutely unbelievable the prejudice against the Green and White.

The funny thing is I heard a Michigan fan say that Michigan was being treated unfairly by the press and that the press had a bias agenda against them. I mean, really? That guy really be delusional, much like the rest of the demons that reside (or have never set foot in) Ann Arbor, aka Hell.

Michigan shouldn't be ranked, but it's foolish to use last year as a basis for this year. Tradition plays heavily into college football. Michigan pulled in a better recruiting class than Michigan State this year, despite going 3-9 last year. Why? Because they're Michigan.

No, tradition should not play a part in the poll system. That's biased and its cheating actual good teams that can actually play the game of football rather than teams that just plain suck. Riddle me this, if tradition was such a HUGE part of college football, why is there anyone other than USC, Notre Dame, Texas, Oklahoma, Michigan, Miami (FL), Florida State, Penn State, Florida, and Nebraska in the top 10 every year? If tradition is such a huge part we shouldn't see teams such as BYU or Boise St even being considered for a BCS bowl. And yes, basically I'm calling a BS on you and pretty much saying that the poll goes from year to year. If you look at the polls from year to year you'll notice that trend.

Notre Dame and Michigan don't deserve to be ranked because they have not beat anyone or had a good enough record in the past to accomplish it. Michigan State has with essentially the same team PLUS improvements.

My point was not that Michigan St. had a better recruiting class, but that they didn't fall off in talent with the seniors that left last season. They should not have dropped 11 spots since the poll after the bowl games to the preseason poll.

4pm, ESPN- UCLA heads to the hallowed ground of Neyland.

After last week, I'm wondering if Crompton might actually be a QB for real. Sure, they played a cupcake, but he had more TD's last week than he had last year. We don't need him to be fantastic, just be able to sustain a drive now and again to allow the defense to rest, and we'll be able to hang with the Alabamas and Floridas. Not sure if we'll beat them, but our defense can keep us in those games, if the offense can stay on the field long enough to let them catch their breath.

So far, I'm liking Lane Kiffin, but he's just one game in. We'll see.

I need to get a copy of the card my brother sent my mother last year (?). He wrote an alternate version of the Notre Dame fight song, and we still laugh our asses off.

I don't know which part is sad, that Colorado lost to Toledo, or that Toledo gave up 38 points, and still found a way to win. And Toledo and tOSU hook up next week at Cleveland Clowns stadium. I think tOSU is screwed. 3 tough games to open the season? Never! If Ohio State comes from these first 3 games 2-1, they should consider themselves lucky.

Well, so much for MSU's case for being ranked. CMU looked damn good though.

Big bad Michigan State falls to Central Michigan of the MAC. Way to go Chippewas!! Western Michigan scares Indiana, losing by 4. Eastern Michigan loses by 3 to Northwestern. Yes sir, the Big 10 looks strong this year!

And Kent State? We're losing 24-0 at the half! Way to go Flashes!

Hey, ya know, I can't really say anything...at all. Michigan State's Defense didn't really play poorly, but they didn't play well, obviously. It was a very mediocre day. There were several opportunities for us to pull away but several key defensive plays in the end zone by a couple of Central's defensive backs really made the difference. Cousins will be our starter next week and the rest of the season. Central is a very very good football team. We all knew that going in. I just thought our defense was better than it was. I was wrong. Oh well. Dantonio will have Michigan State forget it and prepare for Notre Dame next week.

By the way, I don't think we should add Notre Dame to the Big 10 for our 12th team...we should probably add CMU. They're a very good football program that could definitely hang with the lower tier Big 10 teams.

I'm still proud of my school. Go Green!

Well...
- Clausen still sucks, and can't make decisions worth crap
- Sam Young is still an idiot, and I'm amazed he even manages to breath
- ND still has kicking problems
- Chuck still calls terrible plays
- Their defense is still porous

It'll take a miracle to pull a win out of their ass.

^^Like ND was going to pull a win out of their ass anyway...

Seems every time I see Charlie Weis on TV, he's added more inches to his waistline and pulls his pants even higher.

Oh yeah, Ohio State played tonight. Which comment will I give? Will I rip into Ohio State as they deservedly should be? Nope. I thought this was a good game, but Tressel needs to cut down on being conservative. I'm just glad I wasn't jumped coming out of the bar.

I agree on that. I called in on a talk show yesterday on my way to the game saying the same thing. A lot of people really had thought that usc was just going to run us over last night. I say till that last drive, we did a dam good job on D. We had a few times where we could of scored , but never did. So that gave them the chance to take the win. I was able to watch with a group of people that a wide screen tv and using espn 360 in the parking lot. Overall i had a good time before the game.

I also got the chance to see the last few minutes of that UM game. Great finish. Good job guys.

Well, Chuck has so much room in there, you never know what the hell will come flying out.

I was mainly just pissed about the whole game when I wrote the last post. Chuck really needs to get the hell out. Why the hell would you throw when you're trying to kill the clock? And Clausen has no idea how to manage the game. The discipline on the team was terrible as well.

How about the FCS CAA going 2-2 against the FBS ACC, and that 2nd win for the ACC coming in overtime over the JMU Dukes. Certainly shows the gap between the FCS's top conference and teams in general and some FBS programs and conferences is rapidly decreasing.
