October '09 MLB Playoffs

The Tigers and Twins will fight it out tonight to see who will go in. I respect the Twins for their late charge right now. I want whoever has the momentum and has a shot to knock down the Yankees.

I seem to recall the Tigers in more play-in games just to make the post season as of late. I wouldn't mind the winner of this play-in game to eliminate the Yankees, same with Anaheim eliminating the BoSox. National League is a toss up.

You ought to post a poll, Leo.

I know last year the Phillies made it with defense and pitching and since it was so long for me all I did was go for the spin and saw how they went all the way. This time around the pitching mostly in the bullpen is suspect due to health so I'm trying to stay low and just watch, hope, be faithful.

I remember the Twins in '91. Just as soon as I added this line the Twins hit a 2 run homer to go ahead. i just realized this could be one of the last ball games I watch played at Metrodome.

I was about to make a poll asking whether anyone liked TBS coverage. I dislike TBS and the start times.

Twins are IN!!! Don't you dare have any way of ending baseball in the Metrodome, Yankees.

The Poll has been created.

THANK YOU Cliff Lee. Complete game 5-1 win in his first playoff game ever. The shutout went to the 9th with 2 outs :/ but no complaints from me.

Pah. Like any team has that chance. Went to the game tonight, Minnesota looked absolutely silly.

^I think he means you haven't been active on the boards...Oh well.

Baseball needs to take another look at the hit-by-pitch rulings. Right now, all the ball has to do is graze your uniform, and you get first base. I think the rule should be changed to the ball must make contact with the body, not just the uniform.

But if Leyland's Tigers hadn't choked in the last week of the season, the Motor City Kitties would be in the playoffs.

Grazing the uniform and not bouncing off skin: seen that in the AL Tiebreaker. I'm glad the Tigers didn't get that.

I bet Chase Utley didn't get many grazings, more like hits. He's a leader in taking hits.

Day off and no tickets: at the bar with wings by 2:30

Phils were down 4-0 at one point but they climbed back up. Unfortunately they could not tie the game in the 9th and lost 5-4 to the Rockies. There was plenty of playoff drama. Cole Hamels left the park to be at the hospital with his wife. He will welcome a child tonight.

What an incredible game! Holy moly! A-Rod ties it in the bottom of the 9th with a 2-run blast and Teixeira walks-off in the 11th! We got lucky on a terrible call by the left field ump, but to be honest the Twins wouldn't have even been here if it weren't for the call by the home plate ump on the HBP on Inge.

I wasn't happy with that Twins closer doing something he hasn't done all season with that throw to 2nd and wasting my time with the extra innings if the Twins were not going to win. They had the bases loaded. It's too bad the Twins messed up running on the field there. A run was loss.

Off to face snow tomorrow in Denver? Snow!?

I was talking about former Phil Nick Punto and the Twins. They had their own bases loaded in extra innings. That club area goes almost all the way to the ball boy? It sure leaves a lot of common folk out.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. I always wanted to see more of that park. I drove by it before. Bobby Abreu and the Angels - do your thing.

I'm disappointed to see the Metrodome close the chapter of baseball with the Twins. I had a lot of fun watching the 1991 World Series the Twins won. Many of the Twins games I caught on tv from Metrodome were suspenseful.

I'm disappointed to see the Red Sox out of it but I really want to see the team that will throw the most amount of obstacles at the Yankees. Good luck Angels.

The Dodgers completed their sweep on the Cardinals. They wait for To Be Determined. I'm watching my Phils right now.

The Yankees Twins game should have been the later one CONSIDERING THEY HAD A DOME.

Kinda funny how the teams with no votes in this poll are the ones eliminated (withe the current exception of the Rockies).

So, I'm kind of trying to digest something here...I believe since the Twins are now eliminated, every team left in the MLB Playoffs has one person that's used Steroids, or is in suspicion of it.

Hooray for cheating!

Oh Thank Heaven the Phils made it over the hump and knocked the Rockies out. I adore 1210 WPHT for reaching all the way up to Massachusetts even. I only lost reception during the 3 run Colorado blast in the 8th. I just rode Bizarro at SFNE last night so I blame Bizarro for the sudden interference. With the game on the line I'm glad I could put my trust in Ryan Howard to come through.

3 out of the 4 teams I had picked with my cousin made it through (I said Rockies over Phillies). I picked the Dodgers to win it all, but I'm hoping the Angels can win it in a kind of tribute to their player that died at the beginning of the season.

He was in a car accident.

The Chicago Cubs filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. It is owned by The Tribune Co. by this is part of the process of selling off the team. Tribune has enough problems with the newsprint media downward spiral. The Chicago Cubs are not going away like the kids think Six Flags is.

Really? http://www.examiner.com/x-22944-Phil...s--Not-so-much

The Phillies won Game One of the NLCS versus the Dodgers. Papa Cole, Cole Hamels as a recent new father, pitched tonight. The Phils got two 3 run homers from Carlos Chooch Riuz and Raul Ibanez - RAAAUULLL!!!. Chan Ho Park finally came back from injury and was really clutch in relief in 7th. Brad Lidge got the save in the 9th.

Disco Stu is too cool to post prancing pics. TBS is still carrying the NL games. :/ I realize that voice I dislike is Chip Caray. I don't like the other guy either. I'm not really being saved by not having Joe Buck at the moment.

It'll rain tomorrow in New York. After all the weather the Phillies have played through - just deal.

Maybe they'll play tonight. Who knows.

The ALCS is on FOX? Joe Buck? Please, no.

Is Joe Buck baseball's version of Brent Musberger? What is it about Buck people hate? I like listening to him call the game (be it football or baseball). Same with Musberger. Ohio State fans hate the guy, but I think he calls a decent game.

I'm glad the ALCS is on FOX. TBS, since they are a Ted Turner station, should only be allowed to televise NL games.

Well I'm at least glad they don't have the Atlanta Braves on right now. I guess Ohio State fans and I have one thing in common. It's true; I also don't like Joe Buck with football.

The Phillies lost 2-1. Pedro Martinez did his job. The Phillies had a 1-0 lead most of the game. Ryan Howard hit his first post season Away homerun. Chan Ho Park, the most consistent pitcher in the Phils bullpen this season who just came back from injury yesterday could not get anyone out. The bases became loaded. Ryan Madison, J.A. Happ also could not get the job done in the 8th. The Dodgers went ahead and held on to win. Game 3 is Sunday night in Philly. It's cold in South Jersey today, a crappy day overall in the Philadelphia market. It will be likewise weather-wise in New York.

Thanks a lot Kobe Bryant. :/
