NASCAR Sprint Cup: Dickies 500 @ Texas

Jeff Gordon is on the pole at Texas. I think Jeff will win it to sweep Texas this year and get closer to the points lead.

I'm done with Nascar, its a joke now...Not being able to work on your car, same person winning 4 straight years, this whole chase crap....its now all about money, who has the most sponsorship money, and who's crew chief can get away with cheating and not getting penalized for it.

Get closer to the points lead? He would have better luck opening as the lead for an opera. The chase is over with and for the 4th straight year it has proven to be a boring event. I'll stick to football on Sunday from here on out.

Gordon is only 192 points out. A win for him and a bad finish for Johnson will put him up there.

The problem is still, why even have the other races because you could be leading by 600 points but over the guy in second, but once the chase starts, you are now behind him....and if your are not even the chase, you could ruin someone elses chances who is in.

Actually a win and a bad race will not put him up there. There will only be a points swing of about 100 points. Bottom line is Johnson would have to finish dead last in two straight races while Gordon wins two just to bring the chase closer. Possible, yes. But highly unlikely. And let's not forget there is only 3 races left too, so might as well throw that theory out the door. You may be a Gordon fan, but you might as well accept that better luck in 2010 winning that 5th Championship.

Kurt Busch wins the Dickies 500 after his brother Kyle runs out of gas. Mark Martin cuts the points lead down to 73 points.

I remember the day I realized this, too.

If you can live without fenders, IRL has some good (and real) racing. And Danica Patrick is going to leave IRL for NA$CAR, which will make both series better!

I agree with Komatz70, I just can't bother to give a damn anymore. The chase has ended up really ruining NASCAR the past few years as far as I'm concerned. NASCAR sucks now, they alienated their long time fans in the South East, but guess what? Now NO ONE cares anymore because whatever yuppy fans they thought they would attract still don't want to watch. No tracks sell out, every year the racing seems to get worse, and to top it off the same boring driver and his crew chief with a history of cheating wins ever year in the end. Who cares? Its not worth spending 4+ hours on the couch every weekend to see this same stupid stuff play out, let alone waste the time and money to actually bother seeing a race.
