What Happened?

I havent been here in quite a while about 3 or so months and I have to ask. WTF Happened to everyone? Is it just me or has TN lost a lot of members over the past year or so?

People come and go; forums aren't the only lives that people have. Things come up and interfere with regular postings.

Can you be more specific?

1) People have lives. They dont revolve their life on the forums.
2) It's off season. Most people are either busy working or in school.
3) Many people I have talked to say TN has gotten boring lately.

I would say the off season is alot of the reason. Because I have noticed less activity since mid - late October. But it could also be when people don't come on here in 3 months*cough cough* the starter of this thread. But we shouldn't worry about it we should just try to do more and keep the threads interesting.

Yeah, a lot of people get bored with it and move on, unlike me, since I have no life and all. One of these threads seems to come every 6 months or so.

I personally don't think it has changed at all other than the ghost town Speedzone.

We're working on it...

People come and go, I don't get why thats a big surprise.

You earn cool points/seniority the longer you stay here. Any user that joined in May/June 2001 is a Senior/Original in my book. (Looks at Raptor).

The site is always changing, its not like there has recently been a mass exodus of members.

I really don't think TPR sucked up too many of our members. Probably a good number, but not all the ones that have mysteriously disappeared over the course of the past year or so. Like most said, people come and go --- but surprisingly we still have a lot of "original" members around that have been with TN since the very beginning, which is nice to know. There are a lot of factors in why people leave or choose to stay, such as sense of community and belonging, amount of fresh and new site content, as well as many other things. TN would not be around if it were not for its dedicated and loyal members. Thanks guys!

People come and go. I only browse other sites and those are more of a mess or not as welcoming as this site. There is a backbone to it to led me into this site at the inception. I try to be a good member. There are some members that come back and surprise you.

well it seems like there have been about 10 "regular" sort of members banned this year, that doesn't help

There are some good students that are too busy to be here. Winter break is almost here. I was quite distracted in school with visits to this site daily. I did have a much much lower average of posting like only once a day.

Moved to town square.

Also, we've always experienced a decrease in visitors at this period. It's normal.

Well alot of people I remember seemed to have left. There was Kraken who was banned along time ago, I dont remeber what happened. SFGadvKing was always in Speedzone. I also faintly remember one member who was some old lady, maybe my memory is kinda fuzzy.

^ She wasn't an old lady, but she was a mother. Good call on that one, I completely forgot about her. Still can't think of her username off the top of my head though.

I'm still around , sort of.

I think TN could have done a lot more to keep the older members from disappearing, and that it would have helped the site, but thats the editors decision, not mine.

Despite that, theres a reasonable amount of people still around. Still haven't seen Leeloo for ages.

I think that ThrillNetwork is starting to pick back up again now actually. Several new topics have been started and I was gone for one day and it seems like every category almost has atleast two to three new post in it and several have about five. So I think it was just a little slump for a while that is starting to pick back up. Plus it seems lately several new members have came to the site so it is still growing.

I'm still around. Would never have really left except my account just vanished. Couldn't post, couldn't do anything. Took quite awhile to get help as to why. Was just told to sign up all over again. Went from what, over 3000 post back to one. LOL!! Never really got an explantion as to why my account all of a sudden just dissapeared. Oh, well guess things happen.

Anyway, I check in here every so often. Made alot of freinds on this site, some are still here I see, most are gone. But time moves on, what can ya do.

Personally, I seriously can't remember the last time I rode a coaster. I've really lost my interest in them. I'd much rather be on a golf course, than a coaster. I'd still love to ride a couple coasters every year, but I'm not going to pay the prices to each park just too ride my favorite coasters in those parks.

Anyway, glad to see the new members are enjoying this site. It's a good site for coasters.

^Good to see your still around.

I don't post that much anymore; but I still check the boards occasionally.

I still hope to get an East coast trip next year; I need to save some money first! Not easy with university though.

Hey Leeloo glad to see you posted. I missed it though and did not read till now. Us chicks what few there are here at TN have to stick together. I don't ride nearly as much as I would like to. The body just doesn't take to it like it did say 20 years ago lol.

Every theme park website has a slight "slump" during the off-season, its normal. There is not much to talk about except for construction and miscellaneous topics. Some people will post in threads on day and make the forums seem more active then normal, then it will be dead for another. A site will grow if its popular and alot of people show interest. People will tell their friends and get them posting, and they might stay for a month or two before they stop posting.

So now, everything will pick back up again when parks open back up.

i remember there being hundreds of users online everyday and being a huge variety of topics to choose from... then after the shutdown all went bad.

Tn is still by far my fav coaster site.
