Im Back From Israel (for now)

After spending 6 1/2 months in Israel, I finally came back yesterday. I'll be back for about a month for Passover vacation and then I'm going back to Israel for the final month and a half. So I'll be around for the next month or so.

The Western Wall

The Dead Sea, the lowest place on Earth

The ruins at Ceasaria, an aquaduct built by Ceasar

David Ben Gurion's grave in the Negev desert

The Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the place where Jesus was crucified and buried

The Cave of Machpela, located in Hebron the burial place of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and their wives. The building in the picture was built over the cave by King Herod.

shhhhhh! Guys stop talking about SFGadvKing!!! lol j/k

I was in Israel in 98 and stood almost exactly where you were at the Western Wall. Weird huh?

I remember going and getting my little cap before praying at the wall (I'm not Jewish, so I needed the cap of course).

Hope you've had a good time and I'm sure you'll have stories to tell for years to come.

I need to get around to scanning my pics some day.

I don't remember the Dead Sea being that color either.

Glad to hear you're doing alright.

Good to see that you are enjoying your trip. One of my life's goals is to visit the Holy Selpucher! Looks like you beat me.

Hope you're having a nice "come back visit" here.

That's really cool. Even from the small thumbnails I can see detail. I'd like to see where Jesus' tomb was.

I need to scan those and post them.

Of course noone really knows that it was the tomb, or the place. It's just what the historians have guessed basically.

Like some disagree that the Church of the Holy Sepulcher is actually the place they crucified him. Some say that was inside the city walls, and they only crucified outside the city walls. So basically it's all speculation. Like that TV show coming out. How do they know they found Jesus DNA, kinda hard when noone is around that was around then. lol

I loved what I read one tour guide said to people- "If you believe it to be the location, then that is the location." In other words, since most of those people were there on a sort of pilgrimage anyways, he let them make of it what they wanted to in order to have the impact that they wanted.

Otherwise you get into the arguments about the 3 different tombs, 2-4 different locations of the crucifixion, etc. And I don't think anyone will ever really know which is actually it, so arguing over it is kind of silly.
