Well, since I got deferred and then waitlisted from MIT, I guess it looks like this:

Georgia Tech

Major: Civil (structural) engineering
Minor: Aerospace engineering or business

For grad school, I'm hoping to do something similar to what one of my dad's friends did and combine an MBA at Harvard with a MS in civil engineering at MIT, but I also might do the 5 year BS/MS program at Georgia Tech.

Here is my situation. I have been waitlisted at The College of New Jersey(TCNJ), and I have been accepted at Temple University. If I do get into to TCNJ, I would need to make a decision immediately. I really like both schools. They are two totally opposite extremes, but I like them both. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

As of now(It's early, I know), I plan to go to Indiana at Bloomington. But if I somehow get into Notre Dame. I would be in heaven. Iu is great too, but there is nothing like the campus at ND. If anyone else has been there, you know what I'm talking about. It is magical. And, by the way, it is one of the best schools in the country.

^^I'd go to Temple. There's always the chance to transfer as well.

Thanks for your input, Andrew. Do you have any specific reasons as to why you would choose Temple? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

sorry MIT waitlist'ed you since I know that's where you wanted to go

They have minors in Aerospace? I didn't know that.. I never met anyone that did that when I was an AE - AE was challenging enough for me, haha. Have fun at Tech though!

btw Notre Dame is a good school but certainly not one of the top schools in the nation.. also, a lot of college campuses are like ND's. If you take the bias out, its not so "magical"

How long will you know from the wait list? I was never wait listed in my 3 college choices. If you really want to go to The College of New Jersey, then wait it out, but I figure since you got accepted unconditionally to Temple, that would be the logical choice. And whatever credits you earn at Temple, you could always transfer to TCNJ.

One question though, is TCNJ a community college or a state school?

I'm torn between Luther in Decorah, IA and Muhlenberg in Allentown, PA.
I adore Luther's campus and its choral music program is basically the best there is. However, it's in Iowa and over an hour from a roller coaster, both of which are substantial problems.
I have not visited Muhlenberg, but I love Allentown and Pennsylvania. Obviously, it isn't too far from any coasters, and it definately is not in Iowa. I don't really have enough info to make a decision for my first choice right now.
I should mention that my dad works at Grand View College in Des Moines, IA, so I get a huge discount on tuition if I go to a Lutheran college (which I've always planned to do anyway).

An ideal major would be Communications Journalism. If that doesn't work, I'm okay with regular Journalism or regular Communications.

The Rosen College of Hospitality Management at UCF where, I will be studying-wait for it- Hospitality Management! The campus is built like a resort, only 5 minutes from Universal and 15 from WDW. They actually offer classes on theme parks, but I'm not sure if thats the direction I'm going to end up going when all is said and done. I'm pretty excited for this fall though.

Andrew, TCNJ is a state college. It is a very competitive school with a great reputation, where I know I would be happy. They said that I could hear back from them anywhere between May 1st and the end of July. I have sent my deposit into Temple. If I did go to TCNJ, I would lose $150 for the Temple Deposit. Temple is also a very good school where I would be happy. TCNJ is a suburban campus, while Temple is in the city. They are completely opposite.

Just an update.

I was informed today that I have been accepted to the engineering program at The College of New Jersey. So, my plans for next year are to attend TCNJ. I CANNOT wait!
