Unhappy RIP DemonHunter4337/Masked_Maverick

I'm pretty sure people might have seen him post here before like I have. He didn't post often (under his name here as DemonHunter4337) but he was a pretty big poster over at Theme Park Review (under the name Masked_Maverick).

Anyways, over the past few days he hasn't been heard of until some of his friends on Myspace posted he got into a horrible car accident on I-90 (http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2007...ized_afte.html). He died on August 30th as a result of the accident and here is his obituary:

http://www.sanduskyregister.com/arti...ies/392165.txt

This news kind of shocked me and I really liked talking to him over on TPR. His family is in my prayers tonight, I hope they get well soon and I hope Dan is doing well wherever he is now.

OMG wow, that's really sad that that had to happen.

My prayers will go out to his family in this difficult and tragic time.

I don't even know how to react. I talked to him very little, but he was a nice guy. Many prayers.

Here's his profile.

What a shame. I hate hearing about people who die so young. Condolences.

I don't really remember this guys post, but the username sounds very familiar. I'm sure I've read a few of his post, though I can picture who he is right at the moment.

Wow, this is absolutely shocking...

This is terrible. RIP Daniel

The strange thing is, I had an eerie feeling the past few weeks that something bad was going to happen to someone on here. That thought just creeps me out.

Very sad to hear about. I know I've talked with him maybe a couple times through posts but didn't really know him of course. It is something weird and humbling to hear about. Often times, we respond to each other's post or just read them but don't really think about the fact they're people behind those posts. You see some weird username and maybe don't think much about it unless it's someone you post with or chat with regularly. So when you hear something like this, it makes you think.

My thoughts go out to his family.

Gulp. This guy was just slighty younger than me. I was just in the graveyard this Sunday to see my grandmother's grave since it was her past birthday Saturday. On the way out I noticed a tombstone for a guy named Dean; 1970-1996. Just 26 like me.

I was shocked to hear this a few days ago from my friend from cedar point. We had worked there since 2000 to 04 and hung out as well. We had just hung out at the lake county fair out here. I was even going to do some radio shows with him at the college we went to. Very short lived .....he is now though in a better place and i hope where ever he is..... the mom jokes still continue
Rip dan...i miss ya.

Wow that is awful. I was wondering why I hadn't seen him in the Completely Overeact thread...he was in there almost every day and then just stopped posting.

My prayers are with his family.

EDIT:

I'm going to post a story on the main page, does anyone have a picture of him that I can add to the story?

This is very sad news. I hope his friends and family are doing ok right now.

There is a picture of him in his profile. The one where he is standing on MeanStreaks' lift hill.

This was apparently his last trip report posted on TPR: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum...=37813&start=0

He worked so hard to lose weight so he can ride Maverick. It almost brings tears to my eyes just reading the trip report.

R.I.P. Daniel.

Let's hope that wherever he is now, he's finally enjoying the coaster he worked so hard to get on.

Yeah, I had read that report, but never put two and two together that he was the same guy as demonhunter over on TN...yes I read TPR too.

Anyways, this is a pretty good way to remember him (see below). Although I don't know if he ever got to ride Maverick or not.

There's some talk on ThemeParkReview (not sure how realistic it is) of them doing a moment of silence at CP or running an empty train on one of the coasters in his honor. That would be cool, but don't know if it will happen.

EDIT: Dan has been made a honorary staff member of ThrillNetwork.

You know, as administrator of the site, with as many members as we have, I knew something like this would happen... it was just a matter of who and when.

Even then, it brings no comfort to me in having to deal with it. It is a shock to me, and it brings me sadness to know that one of our members is no longer here with us in the physical world.

Even more so... being a member of the Cedar Point employee community. Being a Cedar Point employee is almost like a fraternity... and when we lose a brother or a sister, it's like losing a loved one. We grieve for the loss.

God has a plan for all of us, and I believe it was his time to go ride the big coaster in the sky. With that, my prayers are with him, his family, and all of those who had a chance to really know him.

It's with that, I made him an honorary TN staff member to remember what he brought to us, to Theme Park Review, and to Cedar Point. May we never forget him and what he brought to everyone.

Hmm, I don't know if it is a good or a bad thing that he mentioned me in his last post? Anyhow, He is in my prayers and hopefully riding some awesome roller coaster up in the sky.

That's the point. He wanted to ride Maverick, but he couldn't unless he did in the last few days before he died.

My thoughts go out to his family and friends.

This is one of those things that you just can't get over. It's like just talking to someone right before they die.

I remeber the head soccer coach at our school died of lukemia just three days before his son graduated. I talked to him just h a few hours before he passed. He was laughing and seemed so alive, then a day later I saw his corpse at a funeral home. It's just so weird...

One of the worst things I think can happen is for a mother or father to have to experience the death of their children. My prayers are with his loved ones this rough time. I know how hard a death of a very close person is.
