That's a great song....One Wild Night. But I'm not here to talk about the song, I'm talking about my trip that just came to an end. And boy, was it a great one.
Well first I should get the news out of the way. There had been some discussion about Viper, so I thought I should go check out what's going on with it. To the joy or sadness of a few, I haven't seen anything different going on with it. Take that as you want, but that's about all I can say.
Anyway, now onto the good stuff

As you may know, Fright Fest has started it's reign of fun here at my home park. This is the time of the year where the park really starts to shine. And though the crowds tend to come in record numbers during this time (save the saturday July weekends), I actually found that the park was rather empty tonight. I got 3 good hours in, and a total of 4 rides. 4 is a small number, yes, but they were all great
Rolling Thunder (Right Side)
Rating = 7.7
To my dismay, the left side was closed today. But we decided to give this ride a try, anyway, and I was delightfully surprised. The ride was not nearly as rough as I had predicted, and, believe it or not, I actually got a couple moments of airtime! The left side is well known for this in my book, but for the right side to have that is simply amazing. Though this wasn't a truly fantastic ride, it exceeded my expectations for a rough ride.
Chiller (Robin Side)
Rating = 9.3
This ride has definitely improved IMO. What used to be a notorious headbanger, a ride feared by my friends and me for the common headaches afterwards, is now no longer like that. Well, those shoulder harnesses are gone, and I gladly welcome these new lap bars.
Though I had heard reports of it not being that much better, I must disagree. I think this ride has easily justified itself as a world-class coaster now, whereas I used to consider a bit above mediocre in my book.
IMO, the ride's only problem is its lack of length. It's only about 30 seconds (yes, people were timing it in the station

), but those are among the most incredible thirty seconds you can have on a ride. I don't think this ride quite makes top ten, but I should say that I did not go in the front or back.
I can't wait to ride the Batman side now
Nitro
Rating = 9.9
Why does it seem to me that Nitro just keeps getting better and better? Though it may never beat MF in my book, it gets closer and closer every ride. Front Row, left seat, di-vine. Airtime to the max, great g's in the helix, a non-stop rush until the end. It's getting harder and harder for me to figure out when I'll ride a hyper (not giga/higher) that can beat this massive monstrsosity. An amazing ride, and probably the best ride I've had on it so far.
Haunted Hayride
Rating = 8.3
Well this had a long line. By far the longest of the lines, this one stretching a little bit over an hour. So I was mainly talking with my friend about school, and he told me about how much he hates the Yankees, and how much he dislikes our teacher, and some other stuff to keep us busy throughout the line. We were literally the last ones in line, being that we got in just before they cut off the line at 10. It's kinda creepy going on a ride that's way in the back of the park with nobody behind you....
Anyway, this was a really nice way to end the day. Though not nearly as thrilling as Nitro or Chiller, the ride was long, enjoyable, and it got me into the Halloween mood. Some parts were scary, and it wasn't too predictable like the usual Haunted Hayride. The theming was really good, and perhaps could even rival those along the lines of IOA, Disney, and the Busch Parks.
Okay, I may be exaggerating a bit, but it was really good
Overall, I had a blast. I was really glad to get the opportunity to ride Chiller, give RT another chance, get the usual awesome ride from Nitro, and experience the hayride.
It was really good to get the hayride out of the way, because I'm going back tomorrow. Call me crazy, I know the place is packed on saturdays, but my mom wants to go back tomorrow for some reason. And though all the rides will have huge lines, I have seen and heard of waits exceeding 2 or 3 hours for the hayride. I'll probably go on Elvira, and I'm betting on a huge line for it too, but I've never heard of it exceeding 1 hour.
Here were the approximate wait times:
Rolling Thunder: 1 train (2 min.)
Chiller: 15 min.
Nitro: 30 min. (only 2 trains running)
Hayride: 1 hour
I hope to have as good a time tomorrow as I did today. However, that's really asking a lot
