Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge Advice?

The wife and I have been before and did Dollywood and the Lee Greenwood Theater but we are going back up next month for a week and are looking for recommendations of things, shows, etc that we should try to check out.

dont forget to check out Dollywood first.
the tennessee tornado is a great coaster IMO, and i dont know if it was open or not when you went there.

next i suggest you check out some of the raceways there, as they have small amusement parks with "junior coasters" which are also quite fun.

for shows i suggest checking out the Dixie Stampede. that show is awesome. its exactly the same as the one in Myrtle Beach. they give you soooooooooooo much great food!
huge kettle of coke (or your choice of drink)
huge kettle of water
big bowl of salad
your own chicken (yes your own big chicken)
huge bowl of great soup
tons of bread and butter
corn on the cob
mashed potatoes
mac&cheese
french fries
and chocolate cake
*also you can get drinks like daqaurais (sp?) and others outside in the HUGE lobby. *
besides the food, the give a great wild west show where it pits the south v. the north (you get to choose) and they do a big horse act and rodeo and stuff, then they have little games where audience members play. and the way your side wins depends on how the audience members do.
I LOVE THAT SHOW!
and its also a great show for kids and adults alike!

thats about all i can suggest, other than hitting some of the other towns near there, or maybe driving an extra 45min. east on the US40 and go see the Biltmore Estate which is awesome.
i just went to the Baymont Inn right down the street from the Biltmore Estate last month to pick up my wonderful dogs! I drove 12 hours each way just to get my dogs! hehe

anyways!
HAVE FUN!

if you go in the winter, their is a ski resort called Ober Gatlinburg. I have never been their, but i heard it is awsome. Go to www.gatlinburg.com for info about it. I may go their this winter and i cant wait. I have always wanted to go their. BTW their is a indoor skydiving place that is susposed to be good. It would be cool to try it.

For accomodations...We rented a cabin from Mountain Valley Properties and were very happy. They have a website you can look at the interiors of each. One good restaurant we liked was across from the Wal-Mart--It was Red Wolf or something like that. Really good restaurant and they are a microbrew too. Also the Apple Barn complex was great. They have wine tastings--and really reasonable flavorful wines. Have a warm apple dumpling with ice cream. Plus my wife liked the craft barn building. It was neat because you could buy all kinds of apple butter, etc...

Well I would strongly suggest going to Cherokee and seeing "Unto these Hills" If you have kids then I belive there is an atrraction in Cherokee called Santa's Land or something simular. In Pigeon Forge I think the fly away might be a good idea and somewhere up there I believe there is a skyscrapper (like Katanga). Another cool place that would have been fun would have been Bunny Golf but sadly it closed. If you go to the Biltmore try to go during Christmas at the Biltmore I have heard it is amazing. As for accomidations if you do not mind a little drive I would stay in Knoxville. Another sort of hidden jewel is Townsend.

Thanks for the great suggestions! I think Dollywood is going to be closed the week we are there but we might just check out the Dixie Stampede!

We rented a log cabin for the week so we are looking forward to a nice time in the mountains.
