Thumbs up Another SFGAdv. Trip (Oct 13th)

I went to Great Adventure last night with the hope of having another night like last Saturday...park practically empty, everything open, short lines, you know...almost perfect

Unfortunately, it wasn't so this time. Perhaps the early morning rain held off some visitors last weekend, but with a beautiful saturday morning and afternoon, the crowds came. Here's an example of some of the waits:

Rolling Thunder: 30-45 min.
Medusa: 1 hr. - 1 1/2 hr.
Freefall (that spinning yellow ride towards the middle of the park): 20 min. +

And on top of that, to my knowledge, Chiller was closed the entire time I was there, and Batman stopped working about halfway through. I didn't even want to know the hayride...

However, we somehow managed to have a good time, mainly thanks to one ride. I'm sure you can guess which one that is, being that Chiller was closed....

Nitro

Rating = 9.8

Of course, Nitro can turn a gloomly looking evening into a great night. The line was phenomenal compared to my recent rides, this line easily stretching over an hour. And, for the first time in a while, I didn't go in the front seat!

Nevertheless, it was worth every second. Airtime city in the second to back seat...a great rush of adreneline and excitement till the very end. Simply amazing

After getting in line around 9:10, it was now 10:30. As good as Nitro was, we didn't want this to be a one-ride trip. So we headed to Skull Mountain...

Skull Mountain

Rating = 8.2

Well we really lucked out on this one...two train wait. I suppose the ride's mediocre reputation precedes it, but I thought this ride would have at least a 10 min. ride due to the closing of B:TR and Chiller. However, I'm not complainin'

However, the ride itself was a little disappointing. I was really looking forward to the lights that they had inside the building whenever Fright Fest came around (I forget if it was last year or the year before, but one year they had strobe lights inside, and it made the ride much better than it is now IMO). We still got massive airtime in the back seat, and the ride was somewhat intense, but it would have gotten a much higher rating if the lights were there. Oh well, on these kinds of nights, I'm happy to get on any ride

Approximate Wait Times

Nitro = 1 hr. 20 min.
Skull Mountain = 5 min.

Questions? Comments?
