Astroworld 10.14.01

Now that i learned something about posting trip reports, I can post mine.
The last time I had been to Astroworld was Halloween '99, and we didn't get to go on many rides because of lines. I wanted to go on the other loopers (I had only been on 1 looper before in my life), but the lines were too damb long...
First I went to pick up my friend Seney at her house. We got dropped off, and it turns out I'm not scared that the bridge that goes over the freeway will fall anymore! Then we got to the part with the metal detectors (here they go before you go to buy yer tickets) and they were being very cautious with everything, so we waited about 5 mins there to go through. We both had season passes (and it was volunteer day there, so the guy that scans the tickets was looking at my SFOG pass sort of weird) but we got in without any problems. I walked through the medieval area and saw that this park WAS neglected... First i thought I should go on Serial Thriller, since I had wanted to go on an SLC for a looong time. BTW: THE RIDES WEREN'T AS RUSTY AND RUN-DOWN AS THEY LOOK IN THE PICS...
Here is the rest of the info:
*SERIAL THRILLER: regular Vekoma SLC
I expected it to be very headbangy... we waited for about 5 mins for it, and I went in the middle. The lift doesen't make a sound for some reason (knowing Vekoma, I thought they forgot the anti-rollbacks).
FIRST TIME: Sort of smooth... not as headbangy as I expected.
SECOND TIME: A bit headbangier around the heartline roll
THIRD TIME: This was at night, it felt like it was a lot faster, and i was sure the seats were gonna come off the wheel assembly (they started to shake very bad) and this time it was VERY headbangy... I even said VEKOMA STINKS!! towards the end... first ride: 7/10 third: 2/10
*VIPER: small Swartzkoph coaster
I had waited like 8 years to go on it... I just felt weird about the loop, ya know... This was a walk-on because we got on right after they fixed the train for some reason, and because we got on the only empty row (4th row). They had to press the button about 5 times before the lapbars locked (eek). The lift is either very fast or very short, I dunno, but it was cool to finally see what this coaster was like after seeing it for 8 years... 6/10
*SERPENT: Arrow kiddy coaster (hehe... just to complete them all)
Boring... exciting if you're little I guess... this was my second coaster ever. Seney didn't want to get on (she agreed) and the ride ops were really nagging her to secure herself. She agreed to use the lapbar but not the seatbelt. (First time I ever went without all restraints on a coaster... well the seatbelt is sort of not needed really) 2/10
*GREEZED LIGHTNIN': Swartzkoph shuttle loop
This was my first ever looper, but the first time I went on I went with my head down... this was the first time I went with my head up on this one. I had been on the SFOG Viper and... this was a LOT better and faster... when I came out I thought that I had a sort of cool first looper... 8.5/10
*BATMAN THE ESCAPE: Stand-up Intamin coaster in which B&M worked on a bit
I remember this was the first stand-up coaster I had seen, but it was the third one I ever went on. The way I do with 4-across coasters (can't say beemers... makes the 4-across intamins mad ), I got on front-row center. It looked just like a beemer, sounded like a beemer, but unlike a beemer, it was HEADBANGY!! I got on twice... I dunno why... first: 8/10 second:6/10 (headbangier... it was on the very back)
*ULTRA TWISTER: This was the only coaster I had nervous feeling about because... 1. it has an 85 degree drop and 2. it was my first TOGO... now they don't have a very nice reputation....
When you get to the platform, you get on a moving walkway thing right next to the cars. You get on the cars and strap yourself in (and the thing doesen't lock until you get almost all the way to the back.. which takes about 3 mins for some reason) Then they send the cars a bit faster to the back area, then the car tilts (it's just like MF but it feels a LOT steeper!) and then you go up the noisy hill and then just drop down... and gravity doesen't act on this coaster for some reason. You lean down (or the car makes you lean down) and that part is soo much fun... then you go up this hill and into a perfect, smooth, non-headbangy heartline roll. Seney hated it for some reason!! Then you go to the part that tilts you backwards, the last heartline roll made my head move from side-to-side (would have been headbangy, but since I actually fit in perfectly it wasn't). Seney went to sit down, and I stayed on the platform and went with a group of 5 people on the same car. It got stuck on the lift for a second (literally) here... but still very cool 10/10
*TEXAS CYCLONE: Wood coaster mady by William Cobb, I think
This was my first wood coaster ever...
We waited only like 3 mins for it (the line goes fast) and it was a good coaster... but OUR PICTURE SUCKED! We were talking about how that was the scariest thing we had seen in our lives... meaning the pic... 7/10
*MAYAN MINDBENDER: indoor Vekoma coaster (doesen't loop)
I had a glowstick I used on the Serial Thriller right before I went on this one, so I started twirling the glowstick in the station (it was tied to a chain that i had around my neck) and Seney had an eensy weensy glowstick I gave her (hehe). The glowstick gave off a lot of light and I got to see a lot of the coaster... 6/10
*XLR-8- suspended Arrow coaster
This coaster was a lot slower than it used to be, I'm sure...it was a bit better than Iron Dragon tho... 6/10

I didn't get to go on Taz's Texas Tornado... and I really wanted to...
HELPFUL HINTS
*Don't stay in any hotel that is called "Diamond Inn". You'll thank me for that.

*If you want an immediate re-ride.. find an empty seat and go in.. people there are a lot friendlier!
