I have been to SFA BGW and GAdv this year so i will tell you only about those coasters.

HYpers: IF you absolutley love airtime SROS is king. But if you like a fun smooth ride with nice terrain AC will be your fav. I didnt find nitro to be all that special.

INverts: Alpengiest is the best although talon may be close.

Woodies: If you like wooden twisters you will love Roar. But if you like out and backers with airtime the wild one is it.

Others: Medusa and BAtwing are the best but you will have to decide if you like flyers or floorlesses better. Also Loch ness is a great ride along with BBW and laser looks pretty good. Gasm and jokers are pretty rough, but jj might have lapbars by then. Chiller might also be pretty good with lapbars.

out of those i have only been to sfgadv (i've been to bgw, but didnt ride anyhting). imo nitro is great, it has good airtime and that first drop is amazing. medusa doesnt compare to nitro so imo you should ride it befor nitro to get a better ride. chiller got much better with the addition of lapbars but is till rough on the thighs. gasm is great.........if your imune to pain, it has very high postotive g's on the loops and the drop is fun, but the roughness really kills the ride. rolling thunder is great, and imo the most underrated ride i've been on, i dont get why everyone hates it.

Re: Coaster season 2002

- Nitro - Wait for the front, it's worth it. The ride is ten times better in the front, you feel like it's going faster. Great ride, and the wait it usually less than 45 mins., usually only 30.

- Steel Force - Nice ride anywhere. I don't know what else to say.

- Talon - Small coaster, but very cool. Nice g-forces, good layout.

- Hercules - I love this coaster, although some think it's too rough. I really like the long sweeping turn after the first drop. Sit in the front, it's the smoothest.

- Rolling Thunder - An okay ride, but the track needs to be greased up, the last turn is torture.

- Thunder Hawk - Horrible ride, skip it if the wait is more than 10 mins. Violent, painful, boring layout.

- Big Bad Wolf - One of the best suspended out there. A rare breed.

- Chiller - The launch is incredible, and with lapbars next season, it will be a lot better than it is now.

- GASM - Kind of rough, but fun none the less.

- Laser - Very cool coaster with high g forces, compact layout.

- Lochness - Pretty smooth for an Arrow. Very beautiful, nice layout.

- Medusa - Same old layout, yet it's very fun. Ride the front.

I've only been to SFGAdv and Dorney

Hypers:
I didn't like Steel Force all that much (the best part is the huge helix), but Nitro is great. Ride the back seat for the most airtime.

Inverts:
Batman's extremely intense at night and feels nonstop. Talon is better by far. It's the smoothest and quietest coster I've been on.

Woodies:
Hercules isn't anything to write home about. Thunderhawk is 80-some years old so that's enogh reason to go on it. It's not too rough, but overall, a fun ride. Rolling Thunder needs a little work. There's not nearly as much airtime as people say and the right side is gonna fall off the track soon.

Others:
Medusa is incredible. I haven't ridden Chiller with lap bars. Laser was my first looper and I only rode it once. Nothing great. GASM has rough transitions. And I almost blacked out between the double loop.

I went to BGW. Alpengeist is just plain awesome. AP has some great air-time. BBW is fun, but the drop over water is overrated. Loch Ness Monster is old but great, especially the pitch black tunnels. Drachen Fire was closed, but it looks pretty sweet. The park itself is the best themed and cleanest park I have ever been too. It's just got a great atmosphere. You really feel like you're in Europe at times.

I'll try to do these in order:

Apollo's Chariot-smooth ride, great airtime on the bunny hops, good G's on the helixes, a little overbraked though IMO

Nitro-great ride, love the hammerhead and the large bunny hops at the end, can't really find anything worth complaining about(except the block brake needed to run 3 trains)

S:ROS-fast ride, no brakes, tremendous airtime on the hills, though not quite as smooth as a B&M. I also love the speedy ride up the chain lift.

Steel Force-good first generation hyper with some good airtime on the zero G bunny hops. Ride has gotten a little rough, but there never seems to be a line.

Personal favorite: Nitro

Alpie-my personal favorite inverted machine. Very fast inverted that has great G's on the cobra roll and is built in the woods, making the ride seem even faster.

Mind Eraser-rough inverted, has got nothing on a B&M. The restraints sucked too. I wouldn't wait more than 15 minutes for this piece of crap.

Talon-smoothest and quietest inverted coaster I've ever been on. Ride never lets up, but is a little too short to be my favorite.

Two Face-much smoother than the sit down variety of Vekoma boomerangs I've been on. However, the line always seem to be very long for this ride and it does break quite frequently. I don't know if it's worth the hour that I spent.

Fav: Alpie

Hercules-looks like a great woodie, but watch out. It is a very rough ride and is also overbraked like heck. There is even a trim on the first drop. The best part is the banked turn next to the water after the first drop. After that, it is basically a suck ride.

Roar-really liked this woodie. I thought it was very smooth and had good airtime. Also, there never seemed to be a wait.

Rolling Thunder-very rough, only had one side open. Once was enough for this ride. Needs to be dismantled or improved drastically.

Thunder Hawk-kinda rough too, but still better than Hercules. The line always seems to back up for this ride because they run one train. I wouldn't wait more than 15 minutes to get on that beater.

Wild One-not bad for an older woodie. Doesn't look like much, but the ride has a good layout and is quite long. Needs a paint job though.

Fav: Roar

BBW-good ride for a suspended. Close fly-by's of the buildings make the ride feel much faster than it really is. Ride has a real out-of-control feeling.

Chiller-awesome launch on both sides. Ride is short, but packs a whallop in a short time. I liked the Batman side slightly better because of the tophat. Worse part about the ride is the snail crawling line, but hopefully that will improve once both sides get lapbars(no earring rules).

GASM-could be a good ride, but has gotten very rough. The ride has a good layout with lots of inversions and is very long, but you are in pain the entire ride. If B&M had built this ride, it would rock.
Good news is that the line is usually short because everyone is riding a beemer or in line for Chiller.

Joker's Jinx-looks awesome, but looks can be deceiving. The launch is excellent, but the rest of the ride is too rough and very weak on elements. I felt like the train was going to stop at one point in the ride. Should be less head banging with the lap bars.

Laser-doesn't look like much, but the two consecutive loops almost made me black out. Ride packs a lot of punch in a short time. However, it's a little too rough if you've ridden Talon before stepping on Laser.

Lochness Monster-not a bad ride for an older Arrow. Lots of braking has turned the pain into pleasure for this ride. The loops are nice, but kinda tame. It's a good ride for a first timer on a looper.

Medusa-awsome floorless coaster with a great layout, extreme G's and some of the best colors to boot. It's a B&M, need we say more. Line always looks long, but it moves quickly(same for Nitro).

Fav: Medusa

Re: Coaster season 2002

The Hypers

-Nitro - Good Ride; Lousy Park
-S:ROS - The best of these three
-Steel Force - If it had different trains it would be mint, but it is excellent with a kickass helix.

The Inverts
-Batman (been on) - The most intense
-Mind Eraser - Headbanger clone.
-Talon - EXCELLENT - best of these
-Two Face - crappy boomerang

The Woodies
-Hercules - Crap ride. Trim brake at the top of the first hill.
-Roar - EXCELLENT WOODIE (ride it at night)
-Rolling Thunder - such potential, but in bad need of some TLC
-Thunder Hawk - Great classsic Herb Schmeck coaster.
-Wild One - Nice out & back. Surprised by how little airtime there was on this ride.

Others
-Batwing - Intense. Execellent ride, but the novelty may wear off as other flying coasters are developed.
-Chiller - Headbanging should be eliminated with new lapbars. LONG lines. Never has both trains running. But a good ride. (I prefer Batman)
-GASM - Old clunky headbanger. Time for the heap.
-Joker's Jinx - Good ride - especially at night. First third is excellent. It kind of loses steam from there.
-Laser - Classic Schwarzkopf Looper. Intense G's.
-Medusa - Good B&M, but I've been on better. Sit in the front.

For Hypers I'd go with Ap, for Inverts I'd chose Alpie, for Woodies I'd go with Roar, an for others I'd go with Medusa.
