Trip Report - Knott's 11/24/01

It was raining most of the time today and the park closed earlier than proposed (6:00 pm) due to "inclement weather" so to speak. Most of all rides were down for the day because of the consistent precipitation, but I still got in a few good rides. The park was practically empty today with the longest wait being for GhostRider, around 10 minutes.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Things noticed during visit :

- When asked why Supreme Scream's first bounce up halfway is so weak now, an operator said it was tuned down because "it causes too much stress on the cables."

- Windjammer lot is still empty

- The Sky Cabin vehicle has been repainted with a American flag color scheme

- Perilous Plunge is still drained, no work being done on it

- Knott's is now very *ridiculously* uptight about safety now probably due to the 911 and Perilous Plunge incident. Even with a light drizzle, Jaguar!, Montezooma's Revenge, and GhostRider were shut-down until the drizzle went away (which it didn't for the whole day, it then poured for awhile afterwards). For "our" safety the operators said.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Rides that were down :

- Montezooma's Revenge (closed down after 2 pm/weather)

- Jaguar! (closed down after 2 pm/weather)

- GhostRider (closed from 12 pm - 5 pm/weather)

- VertiGo (closed around 12/weather)

- Perilous Plunge (still closed from the recent incident)

- Sky Cabin (closed for maintenance)

-----------------------------------------------------------

- Supreme Scream : Ride is still intense, but the cars are noticably less aggressive on the rebound back up the tower. Cars now only shoot back up 1/3 of the way now. The vehicles also look different with new looking parts replacing the old parts.

- GhostRider : Ride is still the way it was when it first opened, unbelievable, especially that night ride I had when it re-opened for its last hour. It was running with three trains.

-Wipeout : Fun like usually, they should incorporate seat dividers because the person on the outside half of the seat is always squashed by the inner seat rider.

- Calico Mine Ride : The classic ride that inspired many themed attractions in amusement parks today. Still a fun, mellow ride to take a break from the thrills.

Nice Report.

I've never seen Ghostrider being run with 3 trains. How many rides did you get in, in the last hour? BTW...I agree. Ghostrider is my favorite coaster.

I'm sorry, that was my mistake. GhostRider was running with TWO trains, not three. Typo error, hit the wrong number key. , and another important note, I spoke with a VertiGo operator who said we should expect Plunge to re-around February of next year.
