World of Fun 05-19-02

This is going to have to be quick since I just spent 25 minutes typing my first TR and clicked something and lost it all!!

I went with two friends that have not been to WOF since Mamba was built! We went today so we could get season passes to use at CP this next weekend. For $59.00, it is a steal!

The lines and crowds today were next to nothing. I think we waited the longest for the first train on Mamba and that was probably 15 minutes. Most everything else was walk on to 5 minutes.

We started with Orient Express (my first coaster for 2002). We sat in the back and had a great ride. Some air time on the first hill and very little shaking throughout. I look like I am constipated in the onride photo!

Timberwolf was next and was amazing. I don't remember this coaster being so fun. There was some good air time and some intense lateral Gs on several fast curves! At times, I could reach out and touch the railing, but I withheld due to my fondness for my fingers! A great ride and short lines.

I am not a spin 'n' spew fan, but I had to try Thunderhawk. WOW! This ride is great. A lot of spinning and no spewing! You do get wet on the first row so we sat in the back row. I was wore jeans since it was a little cool today. I did not want to get wet. Gues what happened? A FAT WET man had to sit next to me. If you have been on a top spin, then you know there is no room between you and the person next to. And since my jeans were dry and WET FAT man's pants were wet, my jeans had to soak up his water! I was pissed. The coaster gods were with me today and WET FAT man got moved since he was too fat.

We rode Ddetonator next. There was a very large lady on Detonator that could not get the seat belt fastened to the OTSR. The ride op should have told her to get off, but he pushed the OTSR down and finally got the belt to snap. That thing was pulled TIGHT and I was watching for her to fly out the top! I sure as hell didn't want her falling down on me! Seriously, I was surprised that a ride op helped her squeeze into the ride with all of the discussion about CF employees not being able to do that on other CF rides.

We headed to Mamba for two spins. One in the back and one in the front. Both rides were excellent. Some good air time and lateral Gs around the helix. The supports get smaller and closer to the track around the last curve of the helix which makes for a great hand/ head chopper effect! The lines were really short. The longest line was for the front train on Mamba which was only 15 minutes or so.

We ate lunch at Coasters which is a 50s diner in the middle of the African section! The food was average and the prices were outrageous! $5.95 for a burger, $2.95 for fries and $3.00 for a soda. A cheese pizza was only $19.00! I wonder if Dominoes will deliver to Africa?

Next stop was Boomerang. What a waste of space! This ride is pathetic and should have never replaced Zambezi Zinger. They could have at least given the coaster and African-themed name. FYI: Boomerang is Australian!

We made one last circuit around the park and rode OE, TW, Thunderhawk, Detonator and Mamba all again. I also rode Cyclone Sams. I had forgotten how fun that ride was!

We were there from 11:30 to 4:30 and rode OE, TE, Thuderhawk, Detonation twice; Mamba three times; Boomerand and Cyclone Sams once. It was a good day. It would be nice to see WOF add another decent coaster to its line up. 4 coasters just doesn't cut the mustard.

It was a good warm up day for our trip to coaster mecca on Friday. I will report back then. See ya!

I didn't hear too many complaints, but you are right. Thunderhawk is a ball buster!
