SFAW trip 5-29-02

I went to SFAW again, this time with my girlfriend. I went from 6-10pm and I think there were a total of 50 people in that park. My brother and my girlfriend's friend were also with us, which made it less enjoyable, but it was still a good trip. The trip started with us riding Dungeon Drop. My g/f and her friend were really scared, and I couldnt resist telling them the statistics of the ride. On the way up, I was telling them, "you are traveling up 230 feet. You will fall at approximately a 65mph rate." Then at the top, "Have a nice fall." We did that once, and it was very fun.
Then we went to Serial Thriller, and waited for 2 minutes. I had to ride with my brother cause the friend was being stupid and wouldnt ride with him. It was a good ride, though there is always the head banging at the beginning of the ride.
Then we went to the Gun Slinger and the people I was with were startin to piss me off cause they were being completely annoying. The Gunslinger is a Chance swing ride, just so you get the picture. We rode it once, then I wanted to ride Greezed Lightnin. My gf and her friend wouldnt ride it, so they went and got some frozen lemonade and my brother and I rode it in the back. That is where it is best cause you get some awesome air on the back spike.
Then we met up with them and they wanted to ride XLR8. I was getting annoyed that I hadnt rode with my gf at all yet, and of course, I didnt get to again on XLR8. XLR8 was ok, and it was even better since I closed my eyes. But I knew what was coming since I've been on it so many times.
so then we went to ride Texas Cyclone. On the way over, we did a game and I won a small dalmation. We then got to ride the Texas Cyclone and I finally got to ride with my gf. We rode in the 5th row from the back, and we went on it 2 times without getting off. Then we did the antique car thing, and we got off that and went to go on the newly re-done Thunder River.

There was of course no line, so we got on a raft immediately. There were 3 other people on the raft with us. There is a small rapid right when you exit the station, and then a small straight part. You then turn 90 degrees and encounter another small rapid. After that, there is a nice little surprise which I will not reveal, and then you go down a large rapid. This actually gets you a bit wet. You then turn, and you are tossed around a little since you are in the middle of a battle between a set of rapids from that small drop you just took and another set of rapids created by a "rapid creator" that you can see at work. Then you go sorta fast under a path which also has another rapid. This rapid gets you wet the most, and is pretty much the last one of the ride. The waterfalls werent on, but you wouldnt get wet from them because there is a barrier between the raft and the falls. And that is theend of the ride. I got wetter on that one ride on TR alone then I have on all of the other rides I have done on TR combined. I tohught it was great and cant wait to do it again.

We then went to dry off on the Mayan Mind Bender. MY brother got stuck with sitting with some person he didnt know, which was really funny, since he didnt plan on doing that. I sat with my gf on this one, and since the seating is smaller person in bigger person's lap, I was very happy. It is also in the dark. Anyway, this ride is faster than it was last year, and no, I didnt make out with her on this ride.
We then got wet again by riding Bamboo Shoot. After that, I payed 25 cents to get people on the ride wet again by spraying them with a water cannon thing. That was pretty funny.
It was about 8:00 now, so we went to Viper and and rode that 3 times with out getting off. We could have done more, but there were other rides to go on.
It was dark now, and my brother and I convinced the other 2 to go on Greezed Lightnin. I had to ride with my bro again, and it was in the very back again, but that was a good thing. We asked the ride op to surprise the train when launching it, which he did. It was really funny. They checked everything, the main ride op and the other ride op got into their positions, and the main ride op, the one at the main console, said "All clear, enjoy your ride." but he didnt launch it. he just sat there, sayin "Roll Out, roll out, roll out" for a while over the mike, and then, he said "roll" after countless times, and BAM! the train got shot out of the station. It was hilarious. Let me remind you, Greezed Lightnin ride ops are the best.
We then passed Wagon Wheel, so we went on it. Unfortunately, it my the friend sick, so she wouldnt go on anything else. It was 9:00 and we had to be out by 10:00. so, she sat down for a little while, and then we walked to a little conscesion stand and got a Coke for my bro.
Then, my bro and I went on Texas Cyclone one more time as the last ride of the day, even though I wanted to go on MMB one last time... When we were in the train of Texas Cyclone, but not out of the station, the ride ops were checkin restraints and they saw an empty row. They were gonna do something with it, but some crazy lady behind the gates started yelling "MY CHILD IS ON THAT RIDE! YOU WILL NOT MESS UP MY CHILD'S RIDE!" The ride ops tried to calm her, but she said "I DONT CARE! IF YOU DO, I WILL HAVE YOU FIRED!" They stopped trying after that, and her kids and her kids friends started clapping. I wanted to smack all of them. So, we rode in the dark, and it was a really good ride. I tihnk it is better in the dark. Then, when we got back, the crazy lady started looking in the train to see if her kid was still there. she was, of course, and the lady put her hands on her chest and breathed a sigh of relief. I started laughing. Then we left the park, even though I still wanted to ride MMB, but the friend wanted to leave.
In conclusion, it was a great trip with no lines, and if I was with my brother only, I would have gotten on more rides more times. But oh well. And it was a nice bonding experience with my gf, since she was leavin for Washington DC, NYC, and Boston the next day on a 3 week trip.
