Ohio TR - June 7-9th - CP and SFWOA

Overall, I had a great trip. I drove from Brooklyn,NY, so it was a long drive. Got to reride some great coasters, and ride some for the first time, but there was one(actually 2) major downsides.

June 7th - CP

I arrived with a friend at CP about 5 PM, to catch the starlight session. I saw all the buttons, and realized it was coastermania, and was mad I didnt know about it. Anyways, this was my 2nd trip to CP, and my friend was experiencing it for the first time. We immediately hit raptor, waited 20 min for the front seat. Great ride, fast, with a great layout 9/10. Then, we went over to MF, and decided to wait for the front seat. MF was already my favorite coaster, and had no doubts my friend would love it. As we waited, had a nice talk with some ACErs. We waited 2 hrs, but it was worth every second. Sitting in the front seat, and going down that 300 ft drop, i dont have the words to describe it. MF was every bit as great as I remembered it, maybe better 10/10!!!Then, we hit Mantis. To make a long story short, it was alot worse than I remembered it, very rough. The swarming bugs didnt help the ride any 3/10. Wicked Twister was down for the day

June 8th - CP

My gf, and my friends gf came with us this time. My gf wanted to go on MF, so we hit it first. waited about 45 min, sat in the back row. Wow, the speed and airtime were intense in the back another 10/10. Then, we walked around and hit mean streak. It was slow, but not as painful as the last time i rode. Not a great ride, but did have alot of crossovers through the structure 5/10.

Then, we went on gemini. While the trains weren't racing, I still liked the ride. Good drop, good airtime, nice little helix at the end 7.5/10. Then, over to Magnum. While it is no MF, the Magnum still gives a great ride. Good drop, nice airtime through the bunny hops, and nice views of the water. Not as rough as everybody says 8.5/10. Also hit Blue Streak, I love this ride. Fun, with alot of air. Rough, but not painful at all, the way a woodie should be 8.5/10

Then, hit power tower, and then Iron dragon. I did not ride this last time I came, and I was a little surprised. This ride gets bashed on these boards all the time, and I kinda liked it. Nice use of the trees, and I like the helix finale through the mist. This ride also gets a nice rating since we dragged a non coaster rider on it, and she loved it 7/10!!!

We then got a few rerides on raptor and MF. Cedar point is my favorite park, since it has some great rides, and great atmosphere, thats why it gets a 9.9/10 (should be a 10, but didnt get to ride WT).

June 9th - SFWOA

When I arrived, I found out that S:UE would be closed as well. I was really looking forward to riding my 1st impulse, and both were closed. Double loop was also closed. Bad luck I guess.

X Flight- Already rode Batwing, and this is an exact copy. I love the flying trains, and even though it is short, inline twists, and helix are great. The vertical loop is the best part of this ride, such an unusual feeling. Fast, and ultra-intense 9/10

Mind Eraser - Standard vekoma boomerang 3/10

Big Dipper- I loved this ride. Didnt look like much, but boy did it deliver some air. I was practically standing up the whole ride. If I needed to describe this coaster in one word, FUN!! 8/10

Serial Thriller- I dont care for hang and bangs, and this was more of the same from a vekoma SLC 4/10

Batman Knight Flight- Fast, intense layout, great pacing of the elements. I particularly liked the section after the MCBR, with the corkscrew, then the tight, banked turn into another corkscrew. 9/10

The Villain - Gave kind of a stiff ride, not what I was expecting from CCI. Good drop, decent air, pretty good laterals, and some surprise drops and turns. Overall, still a good coaster 7.5/10

Raging Wolf Bobs- Definately the worst coaster I rode this whole trip. Extremely rough, and painful. Had my hands up at first, but put them down to keep from slamming my ribs into the hard sides of the trains. Was sore for the rest of the day.

Overall, I give the park a 7.5 out of 10. Seaworld was pretty good, definately gave the park some added value. I probably would rate the park higher, but besides S:UE,double loop,a ton of flats, and the river rapids being closed all day, BKF shut down right after I got off!!!

I'm glad to see you found Big Dipper to be fun, it's one of the most underrated rides out there for sure. Villain needs some new trains. If you would've rode in 2000, you would've liked it more. The G-trains are hurting this ride. Hopefully, that'll change soon.

I have never heard anything about the big dipper on the boards, but I loved it. It doesnt look like much, but there is a ridiculous amount of air. Its weird, it is enough to practically stand you up, but it isnt ejector. Thank god they didnt put seatbelts on the ride, would totally ruin it.

Overall, I thought SFWOA was better than most people say. It was a nice park, and there is a pretty good variety of coasters. Many say it is a dirty park, and the employees are nasty. I thought it was actually kind of clean, and all the employees were happy and helpful. While it is not quite on CP's level, I would still reccommend everyone visit SFWOA if they are in the area. Especially if the rumored hyper comes true!!!

P.S.- To all that have complained about Mantis' ride ops, I agree. They were obnoxious, and stapled me so tight, My groin was in pain for about an hour!!!

yeah, what CoasterFan said!

Summed up what I would have said very well. SFWoA is the only park I still have to get my TR done from my last trip and that was my conclusion also.

I didn't get to ride Big Dipper though (ran out of time), but it did look like a fun ride.

Wink hola

I was at CP on June 8th for Coastermania and was dissapointed to see that WT would be closed....oh well. It was fun anyway. I went to SFWOA on may 31 and the exact same rides that were down when you went were down on the 31st. I think the employees on the sea world side were better than the wild rides side.
