| Sfmm 11/27 Went to smelLA to visit my bro for Thanksgiving and went down a day early to hit SFMM.
Got outta my car about 9:50 and was in line 5 min. later. SFMM had a promo going where if you printed out an email, you could get in free as long as you were accompanied by a SFMM passholder. Made for a bit larger crowd on a day kids shoulda been in school.
They didn't crack the gate til almost a quarter after 10, I of course made a beeline for X.
Being solo it was easier to jump on the ride once I made it up to the platform. Spot a single, duck through the crowd and I'm on!
Bagged 5 rides on X, took til about 1:30 as the line kept getting longer. Final ride I waited for the front and thought it was a better ride than in the middle. They had a couple maintenance troubles where they wouldn't load the ride for 20 minutes. 2 trains running but still some bugs to be worked out.
Viper was a walk on so I took a spin on that. Not as rough as I remembered. 2 trains running.
Next I went back to DejaVu. Not a super long line, but slow as molasses loading and dispatches. Great ride but the SF employees took twice as long each dispatch as they had in May.
Hit Riddler's Revenge next and got 5 rides in 30 minutes. Practically a walk-on, 2 trains running. Smoother than I remembered, never really been a fan of Standups but this was great!
Noticed while riding up the lift-hill that Superman had a misfire where the car barely made it a third of the way up the tower and didn't look like it had enough to roll back to the station. Also saw the new track in the back of the parking lot from the RR lift-hill.
Went to Batman next and rode 3 times in a row without ever getting back in line. Did have to scoot over a couple seats the final ride. I love this ride, it's just relentless! Super smooth and so fast! May be a clone but it just kicks @ss! 2 trains running!
Walked up the hill and hit Superman for 3 rides. 5 minute wait and seemed to be running strong w/o problems.
Took a spin on Gold Rusher (front seat) just for nostalgia's sake and did the same for Colossus, both pretty much walk-ons. Actually 2 trains running on Colossus, one side only though. Also noticed some Psyclone trains on the non-running side of Colossus.
It was starting to get dark so I went over to Goliath for 5 rides. Pretty much a walk-on with 2 trains running, I had to get back in line the first couple (it's a long way around each time) but got to stay on for the last 3 though I did hop to a different seat the final ride.
As it was only 5:30, I walked back over to DejaVu and got 3 more rides. Each basically a walkon, they load so slow, it was easy to walk around and get back on. There was nobody back there so near closing but they insisted on no re-rides and assigned seating at the front of the train. I really wanted the back. The final couple rides there were less than 10 of us, all stuck in the front of the train.
Overall, a great day! Got lotsa rides in, SFMM had multiple trains running on every ride except Gold Rusher (& DV & Sup of course). When I'd been there previously in May, there'd been single trains on EVERY ride and the lines to go along with 'em. |
