| ***Hershey Park - 6/26/2003*** This past Thursday during the Creationfest, I had the chance to visit Hershey Park for only 15 dollars! Yes that's right...anyone with a Creationfest wristband got into the park for 15 dollars. I went with my two friends. Neither of them was an enthusiast, and one of them hadn't been on a coaster in nearly 20 years!
First, we entered the park and headed straight to Tidal Force because it was over 100 degrees that day. This is a good ride, and gets you DRENCHED, and I repeat, DRENCHED! It was a lot of fun.
NO WAIT! - 10/10 for what it is.
After this, we went straight to Wildcat, which was right across the pathway. I had to talk my one friend to go on it because he thought it looked "old and scary." I assured him that there have only been a few roller coaster deaths in the history of forever and eventually went on. We all liked it.
again, NO WAIT! - 7/10 because it was sort of rough and could've had a little more airtime. Lots of good lateral Gs, though!
On to the second coaster of the day...The Wild Mouse! This is your standard wild mouse, and neither of my friends had been on it. My friend, sitting next to me, pleged to kill me several times because she did not expect the turns at the top. We laughed a lot about that after. I got a lot of "Alex, you didn't tell me this was gonna happen!!!" from her.
yet again, NO WAIT! - 8.5/10 - the .5 because I was quite entertained by my friend sccreaming at me the whole time.
We were gonna go to Lighting racer after this but one of my friends was making up excuses like "I'm getting hot again! Let's go on Tidal Force!" So we went on Tidal Force again. We got even more drenched. Same score as above.
Finally, we get to Lightning Racer. This is one of the 2(3?) coasters that I hadn't been on since the last time I was at Hershey. We got on for the first time and I chose the right side. It was the coaster enthusiast vs. the non coaster enthusiast. The ride starts, and WOW! This has to be one of the funnest, most entertaining rides I've ever been on! It has everything a good coaster needs!! Significant airtime, significant speed, lateral Gs, and of course, it races! I loved every second of it!
NO WAIT AGAIN! w00t! - 10/10 because it was just, well, perfect!
Me and one of my friends rode this again, and we switched sides. This time I rode on the left. Still a great ride, but I must say I like the right side better.
NO WAIT! 9.9/10 because this side wasn't as perfect.
We then went over to Roller Soaker. This was sort of fun, and my friends and I all bombed the line. Don't wait more than 30 minutes for this ride.
25 minute wait - 7/10 because my friend and I started shivering afterwards.
After this, we all went over to Trailblazer. This used to be my favorite ride (well, when I was like 7) but now it is just annoying. Good for little kids I guess.
NO WAIT! YAY! - 5/10 because it was slow, boring, and the restraint hurt my legs.
One of my friends had to go the the bathroom, and the other and I rode the Flying Falcon. This is a fun ride. I actually enjoyed it a lot! Lots of spinning, and height, and fun.
NO WAIT! YAY! - 9/10 for pure fun.
Kissing tower...bleh...In the words of my friend, "How are you supposed to make out if the lady never shuts up?!"
NO WAIT! - No rating cause it's not really a ride.
On to Great Bear...This is the other n00b since I was last at Hershey Park. I couldn't wait to get on this one! It was one of my friends' first looping coaster. What a way to introduce him to the world of inversions! We all 3 LOVED this ride! The first helix was great, there was a lot of "terrain coaster" in it, some good inversions, a lot of speed, and even some airtime. Not to mention SMOOTH! Another great coaster from a great company!
NO WAIT! - 10/10 because it was smooth, and fast, and just plain PERFECT!
Super-duper-looper. An oldie but goodie! Some really nice vertical Gs on the loop, airtime, and a nice tunnel! Gotta love this ride...one of the pioneers of looping coasters!
NO WAIT! HOORAY! - 8/10 because it could've lasted longer.
On to the last ride of the day, The Comet. This is definitely an nice, old, classic wooden coaster which proves that you don’t have to have a gigantic, record-breaking ride for something to be fun. A lot of airtime, laterals, and a lot of fun!
15 minute wait – 8.5 because it could’ve used a little more speed but overall was a great coaster.
So that’s my day at Hershey Park. It was great because we got to the park at 5:00 PM, hit just about everything, and left at 9:00. 4 hours and 13 rides ain’t bad! What a great day with my two friends. Overall this park gets a 9/10 because they could use a hyper/speed steel coaster with good airtime. This is, however, my only complaint. I complement them on good service, line control, and an overall pleasurable experience.
