SFStL-6/29:Midwest Southern Circle

This would be my first time at SFSTL. It's a good feeling visiting a park for the first time, not know what totally to expect. Sure, I know the names of the coasters there, seen pics and know waht type they are and have heard brief descriptions of them. It's another thing to see it in person. As we get there, I can see that the park looks very nice although a little small compared to what I'm used to to at SFGAM and CP. I notice that Batman drops to the right off the lifthill instead of the to the left like SFGAM's. I can see Mr. Freeze which is the coaster I'm really looking forward to. We get into the park only to find that Mr. Freeze isn't open yet. We look at our maps to find where the other coasters are. We first go and ride Xcaliber, their new flat ride for this year. The ride was fun and a little disorienting, I could see it getting some people sick. It was a little scary when facing the ground. Overall, it was a good ride with good capacity it seemed for a flat ride.

We headed for the Boss after that. I really liked the queue line for it since it was right along the coaster and the trees. It was nice to have something different from the endless rows of metal separating the rows of people in line. We got up to the station without waiting too long in line. We got on after a very short wait. This ride was fun and was filled with airtime. I couldn't beleive though how bumpy it was. It wasn't so bumpy that it hurt the ride much, but it did surprise me. The bumpiness actually added some fun to it. It was fast and I like the layout with all the turns and drops.

We headed back to Mr. Freeze and noticed that they were doing testing. While we waited for it to open since it seemed like it would be soon, I thought the one turn on it looked a lot like Millennium Force's overbanked turn. The ride open and we were escorted through the queue line by a worker to the station. We were going to be on the first train out for the day which was cool since I didn't know what to expect exactly. We got to the station and got into the train, I was excited and a little nervous since there is now olny a lapbar there. This would be my first time going upside down with only a lapbar. As we are sitting in the train waitting for the ride to start staring at the fake brick wall in front of me, I ask my friend, "what do they do, does the wall move up and then we launch?" He just said to watch. We then started to move to the side to my surprise. I didn't know what was happening, I thought we were accidentally being transfered. Almost as soon as we stopped at the new track, we launched into the darkness. We do the tophat and then the highly banked turn and up into the tower. As we head back, down we get some major G's at the bottom. We do the reat backwards and back to the station. An Awesome ride.

I don't remember the order we rode the rest so i'll just describe my experience on them. We went to Screamin Eagle. The way this one looked reminded me a lot of American Eagle at SFGAM. We started up the lifthill after a near walkon. This one just felt like American Eagle throughout the ride. The airtime on certain hills felt so similar that's it's hard to believe they weren't both built by the same creator (at least that I know of). This was a great ride that was also filled with airtime on every hill. At the end of this ride, my frined went to take his glasses out of his pocket and dropped them as were heading back into the station. What a DORK!!!

River King Mine train was a little fun with a couple nice drops but overall nothing really special. Wasn't really fast or exciting, just there. A good ride for kids though.

I've been on Batman at SFGAM many times, so it would be fun to compare the two. One thing I noticed about this Batman is that you can see the whole layout from the walkway or queue line. The queue line was a pain though, the park wasn't very crowded so the lines were short for all the rides today. There wasn't any shortcut on Batman's line, you still had to walk the whole thing. Even though it was a walkon to the station, it took almost 10 minutes to get there. It didn't seem to different from SFGAM's Batman coaster but I might have likd this one slightly more.

As we waited for Ninja, I looked over the layout, it seemed a little different from the other loopers I've been on. I really liked this ride. Of all the midsized loopers I've been on, I liked this the best. There was an interesting part where you get a headchopper effect going underneath the bottom of chainlift. I thought this was an Arrow coaster, but I just checked and found it to be a Vekoma. I liked the turn extremely close to the ground towards the very end of the ride. This was a very fun ride for it's type.

I liked this park a lot. It had some nice natural beauty to it and was ran pretty well and was fairly clean too. I liked the coasters (although it could use another standout steel coaster) and it seemed as if it has some other good rides to it. The rumored hyper would be nice to see here. This is a park I would like to come and see again in a year or two definitely.

Sounds like you had a good time. I'm hopefully going to stop there this summer and your TR makes me want to stop even more.

Sounds pretty good. I was planning on going there this year, but I think i'll just hit it next year with CC and SDC added on. I love FOF so I really want to ride another Premier with lapbars.
