| | | BGW 4/5 and 4/6 This is going to be pretty brief.
Monday was totally kick ass. Hardly anyone was in the park at all. There were two or three car waits for front row on both Apollo's Chariot and Alpengiest. We rode LNM first. Two car wait for front row. This ride was a total surprise. The only two Arrow loopers I've ridden before were Python at BGT and Corkscrew at CP, and this one was about 500 times better than either of them.
Alpie was next. We got straight in the front row. This ride was freakin amazing. I vote better than Raptor. I'm not really sure what I would do to improve this ride. We rode this again, in the back (front was better), and then proceeded.
BBW was next, but we had to wait about 5 minutes because that section of the park doesn't open til 11:00 and it was 10:55. Rode BBW in the front row. This was also a TOTAL shocker. I was expecting Iron Dragon, which I thought was worse than DT, but this ride was actually pretty good. We went to go ride AC then, but it didn't open til 12:00, so we rode some flats and BBW again.
AC was incredible, but slightly dissapointing. I think I've just heard too much good things about it, and my standards were too high. Don't get me wrong though, it's still a freakin incredible ride. Front seat is better than back IMO, which is surprising for a hyper. Bloody brilliant ride though.
We went back around and did a few re-rides and such. We saw the Haunted Lighthouse which was a complete waste of time. And that's about it.
Tuesday was quite a bit more crowded (still only like 10-15 min waits for the big rides). We took the day a bit slower and watched some various shows and such between the big rides. Great day.
w00t.

| | | I was just wondering, because I will be going for my first time a week from thursday, is it usually crowded at this time of year? I mean, a Thursday which may or may not fall on some local schools' spring break... If anyone has an idea of how crowded it could be, let me know, and also give me any tips you may have.

| | | Eh, I was talking to some people on the rides, and apparently next week is the local's spring break. Hopefully most of the kids will travel away, but I wish you good luck. Sounds like you're going to need it.

Anway Bimmer, sounds like your first trip there??? My first trip as an adult (I had gone when I was about 7 the first time) was in 95 and they only had Drachenfire (RIP ), BBW and LNM and I thought it was an amazing park. So I can only imagine riding AC and Alpy on my first trip!

| | Sounds like a pretty nice trip, but B&M hypers are never better in the front seat. You are crazy for thinking that.

I haven't hit 6 months yet, so I can't drive other people till June. Not that I care about that, but the rents do. I'm sure my first big road trip will be sometime next year, but I'm going to make quite a few small day trips this year. My #1 target is Dollywood.

| | | I work over at Alpie (sorry wasn't there for this trip, though it sounds like a normal day at BGW) and I'll be there all next week. Really, our biggest day this year (as far as I know) was on our Passport Preview Day where the wait for Alpie was about 30-45mins avg throughout the day (due to cheerleader comps that were also taking place). While we were open on weekends, the waits avg about 15-30mins throughout the day. Most of the time the longest waits comes when something breaks down and the trains can't be boarded.
If I had to give any advice about making your wait shorter, it would be:
1. Get a locker. Putting all those loose articles up really takes up time that could make the trains go slower. Even if one person does it, the platform peeps will thank you. If you do have loose articles most of the time you can just put it to the side yourself and the attendents will wait for you to come back and load up.
2. Make sure your kids don't shrink. I've been told everything in the world to get "vertically challenged" people to go on the ride. If anyone in the station spots a small kid, they'll get checked as well, and unless he/she grew in the line, it's not going to happen.
3. Read the signs. I believe it's only BBW, LNM, and Alpie that have seats for larger people Alpie only has two, so take that in mind. I usually just get annoyed when someone with a cast on their arm or leg tells me they rode before with it on (B&M coasters at BGW require that you not ride if you have such an injury because it could make it worse..) Again, it's for your saftey and to help make the workers days go by more smoothly.
4. The best time to ride is when it's raining or at lunch peak times (around 11:30am-1pm). Usually the traffic slows around these times because that's when shows get filled and most head for food.
Thursday probably won't be too crowded though. I'm going into work tomorrow and let you know how much of a crowd you can expect. |

BBW was good and LNM was too but i havent had the chance to ride Apollo's Chariot and i've heard it was good... Drachenfire was closed when i went... f Apollo's Chariot is anything like Nitro at SFGAd, then im sure i would like it... |

| | | I went there back in '97 I'm pretty sure I was around nine too... It was the year Alpie opened and I wasn't tall enough to ride it. But it was my first major park and BBW was my first "big" coaster. I was too scared back then to go on anything else cause hey, I was 9, and it was my first major park... I wanna go back so bad but I don't see it happening any time soon... |

| | | Heh. It sucks that you had to wait til you were 9 to go to your first big park. I've been riding coasters since i was 6 or 7.

| | | I really thought that MF was better in the back row. I don't know why. TTD is my top coaster for the front row though.

| | | MF is the best in the back, you don't get the real sensation of the first drop in the front.
