SFA, PKD, and BGW trip

I got back from my trip today around 5:00. We left last Saturday and we started the ten hour drive early this morning back home. I went with my mom, step dad, and three step bothers.

4/3 We drove the ten hours from Atlanta to Richmond. In Richmond we stayed with my Uncle Jude. He lives on a farm called Windy Knob Farm.

4/4 We left my Uncles house at 8:00AM and started the two hour drive to SFA. We stopped at Burger King on the way up and I had cinnammon bun things with frosting, they were really good . We made it to SFA and it was friggin cold. I think it was 46 degrees with 25 mph winds........not good. I have a SFOG season pass so I got in very quickly, it was very uncrowded which was good. I made my may toward the back of the park and stopped to ride Two Face on the way. I rode in the front seat...I think. The ride was better than I thought but not that good. When I got to Gotham City I found that I was very pissed, because the following were closed: SROS, JJ, and BW. . I asked a ride op at the entrance of SROS if it was going to open and what she said made me want to slit everyones throat. She said that JJ and SROS were going to be closed all day. I was extreamly mad and left that area of the park. I also found that Roar was closed to. I rode Mind Eraser which sucked. I left the park and looked at the sites in Washington DC. SFA:0/10.

Monday I went to PKD which turned out to be an awesome park. Volcano was unbelievable, especially in the front seat. The only thing wrong with Monday was that Drop Zone and Hypersonic were closed.

Tuesday was ten times better than Monday. I went to PKD again and got to ride Drop Zone and Hypersonic. Drop Zone was ok but still not as good as Arophobia. Hypersonic was absolutely amazing! I rode it five times in the front row, the launch was almost as intense as TTD's launch. IMO. PKD:9/10

Wednesday was the last day of the trip and I went to BGW. It was beyond crowded and I was not in a good mood. I rode AC in the front seat and wasnt really impressed. At the top of thethird hill I actually remember mumbling to myself "this sucks". I think it is extreamly overated. Alpengeist was the best invert I have ever been on; I rode in the front and the back. The front was alot better. BBW wasnt really impressive and neither was Lockness. BGW is overrated and I dont find myself going back any time soon. BGW:6/10.

Overall, PKD was the best park and the others werent good at all. IMO.

Boy, you sure got hosed on your SFA trip. With SROS, JJ, Roar, and BW closed, there isn't much else redeeming there besides maybe the Wild One. I'll bet all the cash registers worked, though, to take everyone's money. At least they only got you for parking.

BTW, did they give you any reason for all of the closings?

Yeah, the ride op said SROS and JJ were being "inspected". Of course, knowone was in either of the stations working on anything.

I forgot to mention that I was taken to the police office of the park for flicking off an employee. I was walking out of Gotham City in a very bad mood for obvious reasons and an employee operating one of the games said "hey you, why the long face?!?", "are you having a good day?!?"

My imediate response to that question was a middle finger. A cop grabbed me by the hand and asked me to follow him. He took me into this office at the main gate and told me that I could possibly get my pass taken away and never be allowed in again. I told him that I travled from GA to come here and every damn ride in the park is closed. He said that was my problem, how is that my problem exactly?

Wow that was really stupid. And it was your problem since you decided to go to that park on that day. Its not like they can accomodate every person from out of the state going to the park making sure everything is open.

That sucks about Hypersonic and Drop Zone. When I went on opening day Hypersonic was closed and there were no brakes on it...
Volcano does kick butt in front seat, esspecily in the rain...heaven...

SFA does suck Without SROS,JJ, and BW. I would leave if those were closed.

I was at SFA on the 4th myself....yes it was cold & yes some of the coasters were down but that's not an excuse for you to take it out on the staff when instead you could've spent your day enjoying the rides that were running & I found the GC games attendants to be among the friendliest employees in the park.

S:ROS was down which to me was a big disappointment but hey? I've got all season to ride it....at least you got to ride two face because when I arrived at the park it was already down for the day & Batwing was indeed open because I got the first train of the day to carry passengers.

Roar was the most problematic ride of the day but it did open eventually...they were having sensor problems that resulted in the trains getting stuck but once they fixed it it was running all day,I chose to power ride Wild one all day & had a blast in the process without having to exit the train for a good 3 or 4 laps.

I'm also pleased to see that new paint has been given to some rides, namely S:ROS,Two face, falling star, iron eagle & cyclone.

Now just because you had a bad experience on this trip doesn't mean the park is bad....just plan your next visit for later in the season, after all this was the first weekend & earliest that the park has opened in it's 22 year history so give them a break because it's early in the year & some rides simply aren't ready to run yet.

JJ probably won't run for a while due to the noise restrictions imposed on the park,it's not their fault the ride is so loud that without leaves on the nearby trees it disturbs the residents living near the northwestern boundry of the property...the same thing happens in october once the trees lose their leaves the ride shuts down for the season.

I'm sure that once the season really gets going that things will improve (assuming we don't get rained out like last year) & next year will be even better because word has it from maintenance staff that a new B&M may be coming for 05 in the spot between Wild One's turnaround & S:ROS's first drop.

Now as for your nearly being banned & having your SP revoked...park staff have the right to remove anyone from the property if their conduct is deemed innappropriate or offensive to employees or guests, they also have every right to revoke your season pass if they feel the above mentioned conduct warrants such action, bottom line is: if you expect to keep & use your season pass then you've gotta show some respect to the staff & other guests....giving the finger to the games attendants isn't going to get the closed coasters up & running any faster.

Failure to follow these rules just means one less person ahead of me in line on my next visit to the park.

I also forgot to mention that I eventually did get to ride BW which was IMO better than S:UF. It was just a tad bit uncomfortable but it was wow crazy intense.

BatwingFan SFA, are you a woman? Me and my step brothers were riding Wild One for like an hour and we were talking to this lady about Hypersonic and TTD. She stayed on it with us for the whole time.

BatwingFan SFA, I noticed in the post above you stated that Two Face was already closed. I was on the train that caused the ride to break down. Correct me if I am wrong but when the ride is over and it goes up the first spike for the second time isnt it supposed to stop and slowly come back into the station? Well, our train did not stop and we flew threw the station for the third time and the trim brakes leading up into the boomerang stopped me (I was in the front row) upsidedown for a moment then I rolled back a little bit and I was stuck between the station and the boomerang for ten minutes.

SFA probably would have been alot better if it wasnt so cold and the ride I came for wasnt closed. Oh well.

No I'm not a female...did you happen to see two guys in the park, one wearing a black jacket with an orange Orioles logo on it & the other with red & black washington redskins gloves?

If you did then that was me(wearing the redskins gloves) & my friend (wearing the Orioles jacket)& for the most part we were riding Wild one more towards the middle to front of the train.

I'm suprised to hear that Two face had a brake failure...good thing I wasn't on it when it happened because I've seen that once before a few seasons ago, while standing in the queue I saw them testing the train & it failed to catch the 1st lift on the return trip & it just rolled back & forth between the cobra roll entrance & the station a few times.

It's a good ride for the most part & operates more than it's down(unlike Deja vu) & the face off seating is what really makes the design unique.

When you were riding it were you facing forward (towards the front of the station) or backwards? I've never ridden it facing backwards at the start....I guess I'm a bit of a chicken to try it at this point so I always ride facing forward at the start.

Was you or your friend ever on Extreme Rides 2002? They had a Batwing segment and I saw the guy who rode it on the show at the park that day.

I am not being cruel toward mentally disabled people but did you happen to see that group of adults? They were all retarted and they talked really loud. Trust me, if you saw them you couldnt have missed them.

Anyway, yes I did sit on the side were you go backward first.
You are chicken to do that?!? I am not scared of anything.

...

I can't agree with your opinions on BGW, but they are of course your opinions. I've been to BGW 4-6 times and been to PKD once and I remember PKD being WAY too crowded and not very good IMO. Almost exact opposite of what you experienced.

SFOGFreaak are you talking about Sam Marks of coaster zombies by chance? he was the one in the Batwing segment for extreme rides 2002.

I met up with him & a few other "zombies" over at Roar....they got tired of waitiing for the ride to open so Sam & company just left the park alltogether & the ride opened shortly afterward.

I don't get what his problem was but over at ** he had the nerve to call me a liar when I mentioned that two face was down because he said that he rode it earlier.....perhaps he was on the same train you were on because that ride never once operated from the time I got to the park til the time they closed for the day.
