I know I don't really post much here anymore, but my coaster season has officially begun and I really needed to share my wonderful day with people who can appreciate it.
Started my morning with a quick stop for bagels and was on the highway by 7:30. My friends and I bought our season passes and were through the gate waiting for the ropes to drop by 9:40. Unfortunately, I was busy talking to my friend Blaire when they decided to finally let us free, so in response I bolted and pushed a kid into a wall (hey, he was in my way...oops). The whole running to Superman thing was pretty useless, considering three of the people I was with didn't run with the rest of us, and we had to wait for them anyway.
After convincing the people who were Superman virgins that YES, I SWEAR the back row is better than the front, we waited in line for the coveted row. Sure enough, a few test trains ran through and they announce that Superman is experiencing "technical difficulties". What else is new? The last three times I've been at the park Superman has been having issues with the signals, and this time was no different.
We waited for about a half hour and finally got the second train. The ride is fairly tame, but the pretzel look alone is worth it. Absolutely orgasmic. Talked to my friends at the photo stand about posing for Nitro, to which the guy behind the counter immediately assumed I meant flashing the camera. Thanks buddy.
Next we hit up GASM. First ride wasn't so bad, minimal headbanging, overall a good ride. Later on that day we rode again, and it KILLED my poor ears. I guess thats what I get for being 5'1 and having my head directly inbetween the restraints.
We skipped (yes, literally, I was skipping) over to Medusa and walked right on. Happiness. My beemer baby was running very nicely on Saturday. Vertical loop rocked, as always. Medusa will always be one of my favorites, love the length of the ride.
Viper was closed, so we headed to Rotting Lumb-, err, Rolling Thunder. The right track was open, so we jumped right in and enjoyed the one woodie GAdv has to offer. Last year they repainted the track, and if you look closely, they also painted a huge tree along with it. Not the greatest woodie in the world, but it'll do. Wish the bunny hops at the end had more airtime.
We left the park for lunch and headed to McDonalds, where we bagged our extras and drove through the Safari to digest (and to give some of the animals some treats. Giraffes respond positively to french fries out the sunroof). The Baboons are opened this year, but they're all fenced in so they can't climb on the cars anymore
First ride back after lunch was the wondeful Nitro, another example of B&M brillance. We waited about a half hour for this one, the longest wait of the day. It was well worth it though, and we grabbed a back row seat. Some idiot left a poland spring bottle on the floor in the row ahead of me, which promptly hit me in the arm the second we started decending over the first drop, but such is life.
Batman the Ride was our next stop, and the wait for that one wasn't too bad, until the idiot ride op pushed the wrong button delaying us for about fifteen minutes. I'm not kidding, I was going to murder him. When we finally got on the ride (front row), it delivered, as usual. Sure, it's cloned to death, but the ride still packs a punch. I'd rather ride a B:TR clone over a Boomerang any day. Random thought: WHY ON EARTH did they repaint Batman's track YELLOW when Nitro's track is yellow right next to it? They kind of blend into one another, it looks terrible.
Chiller and Stuntman's Freefall was closed for the day, so we wound up doing Nitro and Medusa again a few times, and some flat rides. We left when the park closed at 8:00, all in all a great day. The weather was beautiful, and the lines weren't too bad. Hopefully I'll be taking full advantage of the season pass this spring, seeing as I come home from college for the summer in a week and a half.
