I was really worried about this trip. The weather channel was calling for severe thunderstorms the whole day. I could barely sleep the night before. When it finally became time to leave, it was pouring down rain in Louisville. But, we decided to make the best of it and go anyway. After breakfast, my friends and I made the 2 hour trip up (it rained the whole way) and got there a little after 10. It was only sprinkling when we got there, and this only lasted for about 2 hours. It wasn't even enough to use rain ponchos. Around noon the sun came out and it was beautiful the rest of the day. Lucky for us, the rumored weather made the crowds disappear that day.
We went straight back to Flight of Fear. There was no wait, and i rode it about 4 seats back. This ride is freakin awesome. I was a little dissapointed about the mid-course breaks being on, but it still packed a punch. We got off and rode it again with no wait and in the front seat. 10/10
As we headed over to Vortex, it started to sprinkle again, but we rode anyway. I love the Vortex even though it is bumpy. Again, no wait. 9/10
We then decided to hit up Tomb Raider, but it was closed, so we rode The Beast. We walked right on. This is by far the best woodie out there, even with the breaks in the shed and on the drops. The double helix is absolutely amazing. 10/10
Next, we decided to hit up the kiddie area and rode Rugrat's Runaway Reptar. There was no one in line, and just to freak out the other riders and the people in line, i screamed like a girl the entire time we were riding. Everyone thought it was funny. This ride is good for little kids, but it kinda sucks for us big folk. 5/10
On to the Beastie. What can I say, best kids coaster on the face of the earth. Still, no wait. 10/10
We then decided to ride Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle since there was again no line. It was a whole lot more fun this year than last. I think they changed some of the scenery. 6/10
Now on to Son of Beast. There was no wait, and It was pretty good this time. The last section after the loop still beats the crap out of you, but still fun. 9/10
We again didn't have to wait on the next ride, which was Delerium. This ride is amazing and has so much air. Only complaint is that it is too short. 9.9/10
Time for food, we went to LaRosa's and got their overly priced pizza. Over 8 bucks for 2 slices of pizza and a coke. RIPOFF!!!!!!
Now it was time for Top Gun. It takes longer to walk back to the ride than to actually ride it. There was no wait and we rode in the back. This is the best place to ride it, and made it pretty intense. Just way to short of a coaster though. 7/10
Then we rode Drop Zone, which was my first time, and it is now my favorite drop ride. We waited about 15 minutes for it. 10/10
Next, we went to the Adventure Express. Like the rest of the day, there was no wait. This ride is fun, but nothing to get excited about. Its also kinda rough for a family coaster. And will someone please explain why the final lift is so dramatic and all it does is bring you back to the station? It gets you all nervous about "whats next" and then its over. 7/10
We decided to go see if Tomb Raider was running. It was, and we waited about 15 minutes for it. Still an insane ride. They changed the program of the ride for this year, which is only slightly different. It would be so much better though if it was longer. 8/10
Next, some wanted to ride the water rides, so my friend and I sat out while they rode the Wild Thornberry's River Adventure and White Water Canyon.
We decided to ride Scooby Doo again, which wasn't as good as the first time. Then we went to Face/Off. We waited like 5 minutes, and it was a great ride. Its real smooth and very intense. 10/10
Next was the Racer backwards. This is a great airtime ride. Its a bit rough, but still fun. 10/10
The rest of the group wanted to ride Spongebob Squarepants in 3D, but it makes me want to puke, so myself and my cousin decided to skip it. We rode the Srambler and the Monster. Scramber was fun as usual, but i was really disappointed in the Monster. The individual cars didn't spin, they just went up and down. Scrambler 8/10, Monster 4/10
We then headed back to The Beast. It was even better the second time. And at 5:30 in the afternoon, still no wait!!! 11/10
We were gonna ride Flight of Fear again, but it was broken down, so we went to SOB again. We went to front car, and right before we got on, it broke down. One train stopped on the mid course breaks. They finally got it going, and it was great. The best place to ride is in the front. Its still rough, but you don't feel as if your gonna be shaken to death in the front. It would have been a 10 minute wait, but since it broke down, it ended up being almost 30 minutes. 10/10
We left around 6:30, and it ended up being a great day with almost no waiting for the rides.
One final note, my ratings are based on the individual rides, and not on comparing the rides to one another. So don't get mad that I rated The Beastie higher than The Vortex.
