Canada's Wonderland 5/11 TR

Got to the park at about 9:30, looked pretty empty and my friends and I were pretty right…the park was dead. There were more employees then there were guests. It felt like the park was closed. But at about 2 or 3 it started to get crowded and hot, so we left (but not before i got some great park footage for a school project).

Top Gun
Got to ride this thing several times in a row (without getting off) in the front seat…did I mention it was dead? Anyway I don’t hate this ride anymore its lots of fun and not that rough in the front seat. This is a fun ride and should not be missed.

Tomb Raider: The Ride
Why talk about something so stupid and painful? Exactly moving on

Psyclone
Fun ride, I had to ride with my eyes closed because I felt sick.

Sledge Hammer
Still a fun ride, still a dizzying ride

Mighty Canadian Minebuster
Closed the first time we went to ride it. Came back hours later and had about 13 rides on it. 2 fast 2 furious….in a good way, not like the movie.

Skyrider
Skipped it cause I hate it, but I filmed it.

White Water Canyon
Best ride of the day and is now one of my new favourite rides in the park. The people running this thing are so nice and actually seem like they are having fun doing their job. We rode this thing about 4 times, got soaked and never had to get off and line up again. Such a fun and exciting ride. The waterfall was turned off but I am looking forward to coming back in the summer and trying it out with it on.

Timberwolf Falls
Filmed the ride from the bridge then ran like hell. Although it’s my favourite ride, I didn’t want to get wet at that point in the day

Spongebob Squarepants 3D
Great ride, pretty fun. This was my first time ever trying it and I really liked it a lot. Some people said that there was going to be Days of Thunder in the other theatre, but it was pretty vacant. I hope they put it in soon.

Ghoster Coaster
I was surprised that they were playing VH1 on those new Plazma screens they have set up in the stations. Surprised because I think that it was showing some pretty racy footage of Jewel and Beyonce. Rachel Perry from Much Music works for an American station and has brown hair now…WHAT UP WITH THAT?!
Ghoster coaster broke while we were going up the hill, the parents with their kids behind us swore very loud.

Drop Zone
Not sure if many people know what this means but I was sacked severely on this ride. I put my hands up (for the 3rd time in my life) and got a big lift out of my seat. What goes up must come down and I landed right on my…..good ride though.

Cliffhanger
My 2nd favourite ride in the park was closed all day.

Other uneventful rides of the day: Vortex, Dragon Fire, Nightmares, Shockwave (seemed wilder), Klockworks, Spinovator( 4 rides), Thunder Run, The Fly. Wild Beast (rode 3 times in a row in the front seat, but had to switch seats once, great ride).I also noticed that there is now a really ugly and out of place Pizza Pizza where that restaurant by the bay was in by Cliffhanger. The park was very clean and tidy on Sunday and the employees seem nicer than ever before. But, the ones that walk around with brooms look like murderers sometimes. It was a great day and my only complaint was obviously Tomb Raider, and that I came a month too early for Splash Works. Splash Works is the best water park I have ever been too so I am sure to visit later this summer.

I was working on sunday...you probably entered many of the rides at a good time then because my que lines were full. But WWC and Timberwolf Falls would be empty because its too early for people to want to start going on water rides...it was still chilly on Sunday. I'm glad you seemed to enjoy yourself though

You didn't know about Rachael Perry? She's been gone for like 2-3 years now, she's even been in Maxim.

Interesting...
I have now heard that PCW has great rides worth a long wait, and now i hear there are mostly mediocre rides only worth riding with minimal wait. I have heard that long lines are common and now this about few people in the park. I have to get this stuff straight as I have one opportunity to go, I want to be prepared, (See "Most Excellent Field Trip - Eh" thread in Travel Tips) so would anyone mind perhaps passing on the secrets of line lengths at Canada's Wonderland? Gracias.

CoasterKid,

PCW has an assortment of roller coasters, ranging from mediocre, to awesome. The best at the park are no doubt Vortex, Wild Beast, and prehaps Minebuster. The thing you have to remember when going is that PCW has so much to do, that wait times are never insane (especially when everyone flocks to the water park). The two roller coaster that always have a huge line though are The Bat (Boomerang), and Tomb Raider : The Ride (which falls in the mediocre range in the roller coaster category).

The thing that I would say to you though is that if you're going strictly for roller coasters, then you may walk away dissapointed. But if you're going to check out everything, you will most definitely walk away impressed. PCW has an amazing water park (one of the best parks included in admission), and a huge flat ride collection with some of the most impressive flats. If you're into any of that, you will no doubt have a great time!

Thanks to the previous 3 posters, especially canadian_thr, I'm even more exited now than I was before to be going to PCW. I'm not going only for coasters, although riding everyone there is there is certainly a priority, the things I've learned are that there are amazing flats and a great waterpark, so I really don't think that I'll be disappointed. Thanks again!

I can't stop smiling after reading this.

I love working at Canyon. It's unique in that it allows plenty of interaction not only between the staff and guests, but also with your buddies in the boat with you.

.. now I'm curious as to who you are (in reference to above)

I was away on that weekend, but crowds are usually non-existent until late June (with the exceptions of Victoria day, and special ethnic days).

Luke Ventura, you should be smilling, its one hell of a ride you guys/girls have running there. Words cannot describe how much fun me and my friends had on White Water Canyon that day.

CoasterKID 23: For every long lined ride at PCW, there is atleast 30 great short lined rides you can do. DO NOT SKIP SPLASHWORKS! Best free waterpark, or best waterpark overall! DO NOT MISS CLIFFHANGER! This ride along with white water canyon (on a empty day, its usually packed) is the definition of fun! SKIP TOMB RAIDER! it just isnt worth it!
