Stricker's Grove 5/16/04

My daughter and I were invited to Stricker's Grove on 5/16/04. One of my college buddy works for the local government and was having a picnic there. I always wanted to ride Tornado considering I am a wooden coaster fan. My daughter is also a wooden coaster fan. Actually, she is a fan of any amusement park.

After we paid $1 donation for the local fire department, we headed over to Teddy Bear first.

Teddy Bear - A small kiddy wooden coaster. Not an intense coaster but not bad. My daughter has been on Son of Beast so she found the ride quite tame.

After Teddy Bear, we headed over to Tornado. This coaster can be seen from RT 128. Although the coast is not large, I heard the ride is quite intense.

Tornado - This was a double out and back ride with some good air time. One particular hill, the third hill from second turn around, was quite abrupt. It felt like the bottom dropped out. This effect was even more enhanced in the back seats. My daughter was quite impressed with this ride. For the size, this coater was quite good. We rode this 8 times in a row.

We rode other rides with my buddy and his family. My daughter always likes Scrambler and Whip (although very small). We spend 3 hours and was quite satisfied with our visit there. If anyone get a chance to ride Tornado, do not miss it.

Stricker's Grove is a private picnic park in Ohio, only open 2 days a year to the public. It sounds like a neat little park with 2 cool looking woodies and some classic flats.

Good TR, glad you had fun!

Well that is rather interesting. Open on the Fourth of July and August 2nd (Family Day). I like the picture of the miniature golf by the wooden coaster.

Plus the donation was a good thing too.

I went there last year, I thiought Tornado was okay, but there was no wait at all really so that was a plus. The park is actually okay rides wise, it's sortof carnie though. I would recommend it to anyone within 2 hours of the park.

I live about 5 minutes away from there and have only been there once. I went last year with my friend cause her mom's company had a picnic there. Its a fun little park. Tornado is pretty good. It does have a carnival feel to though, but I think it adds to the atmosphere.
