Sfog

I am trying to stop at SFOG during a business trip on Thursday. I have about 5 hours. I would like some suggestions on which rides to hit and what to expect for the lines. Thanks in advance.

Rides you should hit first: Georgia Cyclone, Acrophobia, Deja Vu, Scream Machine, Superman: Ultimate Flight, and Mindbender.

Oh yeah, make sure you find time to ride Georgia Scorcher, it's an awesome stand-up.

Only ride Ninja if you have the time.

I'm not really sure what the crowds will be like since I haven't been during the week this year, but I doubt it will be packed since weekly operation pretty much just started.

If it is crowded, Qbot all the way!

Don't miss Mindbender no matter what...one of the best coasters anywhere (and still pretty amazing after all these years).

I would say Cyclone and Scorcher since they're close to the gate, then Superman, Deja Vu and Mindbender. Then if you have time, Batman, Scream Machine and Acrophobia. The mine train coaster is fun too. Not too many coasters out there with 3 lift hills. lol

Also, to get to Batman and Mindbender there's only one way in and out. It's weird, but it's a deadend section.

ALL ABOVE POSTS ARE INCORRECT. *

*assuming you're there for opening.

If you get there for opening, go immediately to Deja Vu, unless it's closed, in which case proceed to the back of the park. Go for SUF first, but if it's not open yet (it should be) then go for Scream Machine. After SUF and Scream Machine, back track to Deja Vu if it was closed earlier, or head to Gotham City, and hit Mindbender and Batman. Then, you should go back to the front of the park and hit Scorcher, Georgia Cyclone, and Acrophobia. You have to remember that these rides are at the front of the park, so EVERYONE goes there first, but after opening their lines stay about the same, so it doesn't hurt to come back and ride them.

If you still have time after this, you can go and ride Dahlonega Mine Train and Ninja for the credits, but other than that you're not missing too much, though Ninja isn't as bad as everyone says it is if you just keep your head back.

As far as food goes, there's a Pizza Hut in the entrance plaza. As you're entering the park, it's on the first corner on your right. My other favorite place to eat is the Miner's Tavern in the Lickskillet section of the park. They have pretty good burgers there. There's also DJ's Diner in the USA section of the park. The burgers aren't as good, but they have better fries IMO, so it's really about whether you like burgers or fries better. Those are the main places I eat. If you're looking for something somewhat cheaper, there's also a McDonalds in the USA section between the Looping Starship and the Great Gasp.

A lot of folks will insist that you get a Q-Bot no matter how the crowds are. This is a big mistake--check and see how the lines are before buying one. When you just get inside the gates, don't use that as your deciding factor. That area always looks crowded--see how the lines are around the park first, then come back and get it if you think you'll need it.

I personally will never use a Q-Bot.

Thanks, everyone. I was there today. It ended up that I could only spend 3 hours there. Deja Vu and Acrophobia were closed. I was able to get on all other coasters though. I liked the Superman. I will write the trip report later.

That's too bad Acrophobia was closed, usually it's open.

Per SFOG Net, Acro was struck by lightning and that in turn destroyed many computer and mechanical components of the ride. Knowing Intamin, it will be weeks before the ride will open, as they are notoriously slow when it comes ot getting replacement parts.

When was Acro struck by lighting?
