| | | SF America 6/6/04 Well I went to SFA today. Got there at 10:30 and left at 2.
We got there at opening and headed for Superman. It was closed for about 10 minutes so we went over to Batwing. Its rough while X-flights smooth. After we take a nap on the brake run (on there for 5 minutes) we head back over to Superman for them to tell us 30 minutes. With that we went to ride Jokers Jinx. They should combine the best of it and Flight of Fear. FOFs theming, speed, ride Ops, cleanness and JJ Lack of MCBR. Then we headed over to Wild One. It was running 2 trains but one didn’t work. After that we rode Two-face then Tower of Doom. TOD is cool for being short (first time ridden it). So with that we headed back to SROS for them to tell us it wouldn’t open till 1 (it was only quarter to 12) so we went to Batwing again and saw them take the red train off. when we got on and got on the lift we saw people getting in line and it wasn’t even 12! So after we got another nap on batwing we got in line for SROS.
We waited for about 10 minutes since there was only one train and they took there time loading. When we got on they had us leave the lap bar up while they made the orange seat belt tight. Then they came and stapled everyone. You have no leg room with those stupid restraints now. So we go up the lift and drop and when we went over what was suppose to be air time galore, there was NO air time. Then with that we enter the Helix only to have my shins killed by that blue bar. Pretty much the rest sucked.
So we got off and went back to JJ and rode it. Then we went over to Mind Eraser. There were cicadas everywhere. So we got on and the restraints smelled. It’s a SLC so I wont go into detail. Then we went to ride Roar. It was the best ride of the day. We decided to ride Superman one more time then leave. We had to wait for half an hour this time. We were next then they let fastlane people get on. I hate that thing. Well we got on and this time I made my legs so they don't touch the blue bar. This time we had air time but not as much as before but it was good.
So to recap I rode
S:ROS-2
JJ-2
Wild one-1
Roar-1
Mind Eraser-1
Batwing-2
Tower of Doom-1
two-face-1
My tip for everyone going is to make sure you legs don’t touch the blue bar on SROS on the lift. |

| | I'm going on saturday(if the weather holds) & I'm looking forward to being able to get back on S:ROS but from what I've heard all over the net it seems like the new restraint mods have totally ruined the ride experience I still hope to get a touch of air when going over the 3rd hill but from the sounds of things it looks like that's no longer a possibility.
I read a TR posted yesterday & it seems there's some good news....from what I read it sounds like Iron eagle has finally opened for the season,I was getting quite tired of walking past the ride & seeing it in pieces for the past couple of months....now if they can just get TSC up & running then I'll be really happy because I never got to ride it all season last year. |

| | | When I rode S:ROS yesterday, I still got plenty of air time in the front row. Especially going over both hills. I did see a small difference but still got plenty of air time. Perhaps less than a fraction of a second. |

| | | If Iron Eagle is that red ride that has three rows and turns 360 degrees while turning that the car then it was open at the begining of the day but it was closed with some works around the motor while I was leaving. |

| | | Yes that's the ride I'm talking about.
From the sounds of things it's still having motor proplems? I thought they just installed a new motor during the offseason to fix the problems they had with it last year.
My guess is that if these problems persist then in all likelyhood the ride will probably end up going the way of KBF's Hammerhead(to the scrapyard) & something else like a top spin would replace it in the future.
Funny thing is SFA was supposed to get a top spin & in fact had the parts for it on site next to JJ in 99 but it got sent off to SFDL instead & the octopus took it's place in the nantucket section of the park. |

| | I don't want to hijack this topic...but X-Flight isn't all that smooth anymore. It's going through the "Vekoma maturation" process. I'm sure Batwing is doing the same.

| | | Honestly, I don't think Batwing is all that rough. Especially not as rough as the Boomerangs or the SLC's. I do feel the vibration on Batwing After the first drop and it takes the curve over the station and back to the rear of the ride. Other than that. I think it is pretty smooth. |

It's probably our best flat ride as of now.
Anyway, I almost cried when I read about the stapling and lack of airtime. I'm hoping there's some way to keep my legs up to prevent the stapling and allow for some airtime, or perhaps the ops at SFDL would still have a touch of neglegence |

| | | The best way I have found to keep from the new restraints affecting your ride is do exactly what the picture says. Legs at a 90 Degree angle, your bum as far back in the seat as you can. Basically assume perfect posture. Do your best to make sure your shins don't touch the shin pads. On the one at SFA, my biggest concern was the airtime on the third hill. I still had plenty of airtime. The bunny hops are a little more controlled. But alas, I'm thankful for that. I always felt I was close to coming out before the mods. Now I don't feel that way anymore. |

| | | I went yesterday & didn't have any problems with the new restraints (except for extremely slow load times)& despite what everyone is saying the new system doesn't hurt at all & still allows for that great spot of air on the 3rd hill.
The thing I was more fed up with about the ride was the constant breakdowns....Batwing on the otherhand seemed to run flawlessly but with the usual single train op,BTW when I was on the ride I didn't see python's track sitting in it's usual spot so maybe they must've moved it...or more than likely it's just buried in the weeds back there.
The park was jam packed yesterday so you know they were doing good business & the eagle as well as TSC were running, man did I get a double dose of wet on that thing.....first from the final drop & then from a perfectly timed shot from one of the water cannons lining the return track to the station.
I'll probably post my full TR either later this afternoon/evening or more than likely sometime during the week.....at least next month I'll be taking a break from SFA & it'll be off to PKD for me,which I can hardly wait for. |

| | | The park's annual "Praise in the Park" event was held on Saturday. Thus the reason why they were jam packed. What did you think of Roar on the black train? |

| | | jumpboyb,
I'm not sure what your asking in the first paragraph. But, Python's track is easiest seen from the lift on S:ROS if you look over your right shoulder. It's green and mostly rusty now. It's kind of hard to see going up the lift on Batwing unless your on the left side and then you probably willn't be able to see it until you reach the top of the lift and can see over the mound of dirt next to the ride. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
