| BGT 12/30-- Allah Akbar's Adventure Tours & Badgers What other way than to end the year 2004 is by a last trip to BGT on a PACKED day.
I arrived at opening with light crowds and ran to Akbar's Adventure Tours, after getting a tip from BGTGuide that Akbar's Adventure Tours would operate from the 29th to Jan. 3rd for the last time before they close the attraction forever and finally tear it out. A little background on Akbar, the ride opened as a new family simulator film after replacing Questor just so the film could fit in with the Egypt theme.
Anyways, the movie was about a man named Akbar that was getting his stuff repo'd because his "tours" werent popular and couldnt afford his bills (or something like that). After that, he takes the repo man (and us) on a wild tour through Egypt. You first begin on the markets of Egypt, then you trek the Great Pyramids and Sphynx, after that, you go through a "spooky" tomb with the rides special effect of the Mummy popping out toward you and in the end, you enter a room full of riches and a mummy bats you out of the pyramid and crashes outside... suddenly the gold from the tomb comes flying out, along with "Big Mummy", which was the comic relief character aside from Akbar. Akbar becomes rich, and the repo man, gets squished and ends up with "Big Mummy". At the end, Akbar opens his own park, "Akbar Gardens" and has plans of making a hotel and casino too. Probably the best family attraction/show at Busch left, IMO.
After my last ride on Akbar, I took a few pictures of Akbar's theming before it gets torn out. Then I trekked out to SheiKra and damn, the supports aren't really that thin and it looked BIG up close. Some lift work got started and the lift is STEEP, probably as steep as Oblivions, not your average 45 degree lift. After that, I took my only 2 rides of the day because the park became chaotic and spent the rest of the day taking pics, Scorpion and Kumba were the 2 coasters I hit. Also, if you read my other TR from Howl-O-Scream, the Xcursions thing turned out to be a gift shop renovation tongue.gif . After that, I had a mediocre Busch lunch at the new Smokehouse (which opened and is a part of the SheiKra project that boasts the rock theming). What a gyp, the ribs I got were cold and that it was expensive.
Soon enough, Busch would turn into total chaos and full of people from Wisconsin (and a few Georgians because of Georgia) because of the Outback Bowl, it was all red shirts and badgers from there and the crowds were slow moving, I didnt feel like waiting 2+ hours for rides, so I took pictures until I left. Pictures will be up later... |
