| | | Busch Gardens Williamsburg tips? Ok Say on a weekday in late may early june can you do everything at the park in one day? What are the crowds like? Are there any campgrounds nearby that are nice? is there anything else there worth doing and is a weeks camping trip going give us enough to do in williamsburg? Are there any National parks nearby? tourist attractions? shopping? etc? If I go from chattanooga should I go the interstate or take blueridge parkway for teh sights? What is the difference in travel times? Are there nearby towns with neat stuff? What ar ethe park food prices like? Thanks for your input, I know its a lot of questions but I wanna make sure itll be a good trip.

| | You can easily ride the rides multiple times during the week. Saturdays are busy, but not terrible. I've only seen one or two bad Saturdays there.
I don't know about campsites, I hate camping.
I'm not sure what the fastest way is for you, I always go: I-85 to I-95 take the I-295 (you have to cut through this little town called Chester, VA) then I-64 E to BGW.
From Charlotte it's about 5.5 hours
Nearby: Virginia Beach is 1 hour or less, Richmond (PKD) is 1 hour, Washington is 2 hours (SFA).
There's a historical highway, can't remember the name that runs from Yorktown down to another historical town. It's a pretty drive, and it cuts right through Williamsburg, so you can't miss it.
Food prices are pretty much the same as in Tenn. BGW has some of the best park food around. Also if you like seafood, eat at The Whaling Company http://www.thewhalingcompany.com/ We eat there every time. They're great!
Pretty much Williamsburg is a small college town (William & Mary) and is easy to get around. The main drag is along Richmond Rd and that also takes you by Colonial Williamsburg.
Here's a good website to check around on http://www.hamptonroads.com/
Hotel to avoid: Best Western at BGW.
Hope this helps, have a good trip!

| | | BGWfreak, you drive really slow!
Richmond is about 45 mins. away. Charlotte is about 4 hr. 45 min. or about 4hrs. 30min. or less from Hickory, NC.
If you are going on a weekday in late May, the park will be ridiculously hot but deserted. We went last May and it was 90 to 95 degrees. In 8 hours from 10-6, I rode AP 18 times, Alpie 12 times, and all other rides at the park at least twice, if not more.

| | | OK, I can't answer all of your questions, but I will answer what I know. Weekday, hitting everything? I would presume it would not be a major problem, but I don't know. The last weekday I went was in October of like, what, '99....there were only about 2500 people in the entire park, so I really cant say with any certainty. Campgrounds? Don't know.
"is there anything else there worth doing and is a weeks camping trip going give us enough to do in williamsburg?"
Maybe not just Williamsburg, although there is historic downtown Williamsburg, Water Country USA, and Busch Gardens. But there is plenty to do in the area...will touch on this a bit more later. Are there any National parks nearby?
Define nearby. As stated above, there is a LOT to do in the general area with a lot of historic sites and grounds, so there probably is, but not having even lived in the area in about 11 years, and even then the longest amount of time I spent there was 6 months, so I am not positive, but there probably are. tourist attractions?
Of course with historic Williamsburg, the parks (Water Country and Busch Gardens), the beach, and a lot of other things. shopping? etc?
Don't know, but I would presume that yes there is. If I go from chattanooga should I go the interstate or take blueridge parkway for teh sights?
OK, running it through Streets and Trips, the quickest route is showing as basically I-40 to I-81/I-77/I-81 (ahh name changes) then I-64. That shows as the quickest route at approximately 596 miles and 9:33 (H:mm). The shortest route uses basically I-40 to I-81/I-77/I-81 to US 60 to I-64. It only saves about 10 miles but the driving time is 10:43. I personally do not know about the Blue Ridge Parkway, but someone who may know would be someone who has actually traveled it. What is the difference in travel times?
Dont know with the Blue Ridge Parkway, but there is about 10 miles versus 1:10 in driving times. The quickest route is longer, but it is all interstate, and was stated above. The shorter route uses a lot of interstates, state roads, and US Highways but is a longer drive time. Are there nearby towns with neat stuff?
There are plenty of towns around the area. And a lot of them offer a lot of historic sites or other attractions. What ar ethe park food prices like?
Dont know. In an effort to save money when I visit, I try to eat before I get there and on the way home....so I dont rightly recall.
Just some info to consider. Hope it helps.

| | | Just in case, I wouldn't recommend going on a weekday in late June / entire month of July. We went on a Thursday in mid-July and the park was hellishly crowded. (With that undesirable local teenager population making up a large percentage of the crowd) |

| | | OK so its coming up soi I decided to bring this thread back up just in case anyone else has any new advice.
I am going on the 6th or 7th of june thats a monday or tuesday, a little over a week away. Will the lines be bad now that darkastle has opened? any advice as to what to hit first and last? I was thinking if the lines were long for darkastle to hit it about an hour before the park closes so the lines may be slimer. whatcha think?

| | | The best thing to do: Try and hit DarKastle either at opening or at night. That allows you to go to the rollercoasters and other rides while everyone else waits. Like IJ:ST here at Kings Island, it was hyped alot so everyone goes there, meaning NO LINES!

Why do you drive on a park-way and park on a drive-way?

| | | BGW does not really get extremely crowded in the summer except for on weekends. of course this season will be a little more crowded because of Curse of DarKastle. |

| | | cool I just wanna go and be able to enjoy myself. I am so used to sfog since its so near to me that I get nervous thinking about crowds at parks.
Its calling for rain, isolated t storms. I think we are going to try anyways since we already bought our tickets.
