Viva Las Vegas!

w00t! I'm going to Vegas for spring break, and I need some tips. What to ride, what not ride, and also what to do. I know that Insanity will be open, and hopefully everything else on the strip. What I could really use are some tips about when to go, or tips on discounted tickets (to go one all of the coasters in Vegas, you have to spend about $100 ).

Avoid Manhattan Express at all costs unless you really want to boost your count. It's expensive and not even the least bit fun. Chew on an aspirin if you feel the urge to ride it.

Canyon Blaster is so-so. Its kinda fun with it being indoors and all, but its mediocre at best. Pretty smooth, though.

High Roller bites the big one. Totally lame and boring. You don't even hang over the edge, even though thats what all the pictures make it look like. However, Definently ride Big Shot because that is some freaky stuff! X-Scream, too. Get the front seat on that for sure. Let us know how Insanity is. It looks...well...insane.

Speed was a surprise hit for me. It is a somewhat simple layout but then again, its not. It does only have one loop, but it also has a lot of fun twists and turns. The diving turn right out of the station is really fun and also the big turn around the Sahara lobby is a blast. Unlike all the other Premier coasters, this one still has OTSRs, but thats okay. Its probably the only one that didn't need them because this a smooth ride.

Desperado rules! It is my favorite coaster in the Vegas area. Yeas, you have to take a bus ride to the California border but it is well worth it. Its super fun. I hear quite a few people who say its overrated or something, but its not. Its great and it looks really good sitting out there in the desert. Also, I recomend the log ride thay have at Buffalo Bills. Its not that exciting of a ride, but like MIB:AT at USF, you can shoot at things the whole ride and have your points tallied up at the end. And stuff will happen when you shoot it. Its also cool because it flows right through the middle of the casino at times. Forget their Turbo Drop, its nothing special.

^Sweet, thanks for all the info. I was looking at Manhattan Express, and the price is $12 a ride, with an all-day pass for $26. That much for a crappy Togo! I would like to ride it front and back to see how it is, but I gues that won't be happening. A all-day pass at the Strat doesn't even cost that much, and besides, it has 4 rides.

I would still give it a try no matter how crappy it is though but the pov on theme park review looks like it could hurt a bit.

The last time I went was March of last year, The next time I'm going is in a few days (Thursday the 3). Vegas is very expensive, there are not many discounts out there, so start saving up!

I know if you stay at the Circus Circus, you get a $4 off coupon for an all day wristband for The Adventuredome. Not sure if they're still doing this, but at the State line (Buffalo Bills and Whiskey Pete's, where desperado is) they offered coupons for a few bucks off Manhattan express at The New York, New York. I'll find out if they're still doing it. Also last time I was there, it was discounted, I can't exactly remember it was before a certain time, or if was a weekday special (it was march though, so it might be a winter deal only).

My breakdown of the attractions:

Adventuredome-
The whole park is fun in general, it may be small, but there's lots to do. They recently added a Chance Slingshot (which I'll hopefully have the chance to ride) and they offer a wide variety of other rides including Rim Runner, a fun shoot the chute ride, but the whole place is air-conditioned, so it can get cold. They also have a Chance Inverter, a Chance Chaos, Laser tag (free with wristband) and two motion simulators (try to sit in the front of the car or you could get nauseous). Canyon Blaster
I LOVE this ride! Personally I think it's the best in vegas. It's smooth and very forceful, plus it goes in and out of the "mountains" that are there. very fun ride, worth the money.

Stratosphere-
I would also recommend getting an all day pass for here as well. The elevator costs money (included in the all day) so if you plan on going up more then once, It's worth it. I recommend going once during the day, and again at night if you can. X-scream Is a lot of fun, if you don't sit in the front though, it's nothing too special (aside from the height of course). It reaches a top speed of 30 MPH soaring over the strip at over 880 feet in the air. If that's not enough, it also stretches out nearly 30 feet off of the tower with nothing but the strip below. High Roller sucks, it's "boring" it's surprisingly rough for how small it is, and they make you go around twice. Do it just to do it. Big Shot tons of fun. I really didn't get the "OMG we're going to fly off the tower!!" feeling, but it's still a lot of fun being that high up and being thrown into the restraints when you hit the top. Insanity Sadly I don't think it's going to be open for my trip (They're installing it this week I believe) but let us know how it is (in case I don't get to go again when it is open)

Other Vegas Attractions

Manhattan Express at the New York, New York is a fun-ish ride. A lot of people complain it hurts, and it does, but the twist and dive is one of the craziest inversions I have ever been on, but aside form that, the ride is overly trimmed and very rough. Ride at your own discretion.
Speed: The Ride is a lot of fun and my second favorite roller coaster in Vegas. Like Bruns said, it has OTSRs, but they don't take much away from the ride because it is still smooth. The second launch is a lot of fun, and going backward through loops is always fun. I suggest getting an all day if you plan on riding it more then once (which you probably will).
Star Trek: the Experience, at the Las Vegas Hilton, I found to be a lot of fun as well. I'm not really a big fan of ST in general, but I thought these simulators were worth a ride. The imersiveness (is that even a word?) of the two rides is Amazing and I had a great time. Although the 4-D Borg Encounter left something to be desired (I though It's tough to be a Bug was much better) the pre-show is awesome.

Don't forget that there is a lot of free stuff to check out as well, like the Fountains of Bellagio, and Fall of Atlantis and Festival Fountain shows at Caesars Forum Shops. TI has a show, but it's not that great, but hey, it's free so you can't complain TOO much. Hope this helps, have fun cause I know I always do.
