Help needed for PKD and BGW trip!

Yeah, I am going to PKD and possibly BGW this Saturday and Sunday. I am not expecting a large crowd at either park at all. But, I want any tips or advice for each park. So, if you have any helpful hints or tips on which rides to hit first, what to expect from each park, where to eat, or anything else for either/both parks, please post it.

Thanks in advance...

My experience at BGW, most days are not that busy at the park. It's so spread our that you usually don't get tons of people in one area.

As a result, most of the lines are very light.

Most I've waited past couple trips was 15 minutes for any of the coasters.

PKD is different, it's very crowded on Saturdays and I'm sure Tomb Raider will be packed since it's new.

I'd say hit Volcano first unless you can get at the front of the line for Tomb Raider. Volcano breaks down every now and then and it's best to get a ride in early in my experience, because you never know if you'll get one later.

Avalanche is right next to Volcano and there's never a wait, it's a fun bobsled.

From there I usually go counter-clockwise around the park. (They say most people go clockwise (start from the right hand side)).

Also, there's a little "short cut" to Volcano, when you walk in the park on your left you'll see one of those boat rides that goes upsidedown (think it's called Berzerker) take a left there and follow the fence all the way to kiddie land. Hang a right and you'll come to Volcano.

I think it's a little faster that way.

You should be alright this time of year at both parks. Making my BGW trip today:-). Oh how i love spring break.

THe best BGW PKD comparison i can make for you is at busch gardens you can ride 4x4minute world-ranked roller coasters or goto PKD and ride 11x30-60 second rollercoasters. I believe the math comes out nearly equal, however the bgw coasters have the world-ranked while PKD's rc's break down every 30 minutes.

At PKD, I would ride Hypersonic XLC first (usually has the longest lines). Then I would ride Volcano. All the others should be short or walk-ons.

At BGW, I would ride Apollo's Chariot first. If you get there when the park opens, you should be able to ride it atleast 4 times as walk-ons.

^ Apollo's won't open until 10:30 due to the stagered start. I think it may not be until 11AM for BBW, but Im cant recall. Same with HyperSonic, which I also think opens later than the rest. Volcano and then Tomb Raider is your best bet.

Ride the train and the sky ride at BGW, they are among the best in the world.

This past October I was at PKD on a Saturday, and the first ride I did was Hypersonic. It was open when the park opened. Volcano didn't open til like 3 or 4. On Sunday (the next day) I went to BGW, I did Apollo's Chariot first thing, also open when the park opened. Maybe they opened on time because it was their holloween event?

Thanks for the imformative posts and tips! Thanks to the rest of you also!

As of today, the plans have changed. It is still possible that we are visiting BGW, but my mom is planning on going to PKD both days. This is a good thing, as I can ride HSXLC the night before, and then can start at Volcano the next morning. But, I would still want to go to BGW instead on Saturday. Also, I am staying at DC on Monday and Tuesday, near the underground mall, or whatever that is. Staying at the Embassy Suites in Richmond for PKD...

Keep the advice coming, it is really gonna help a lot. Also, look for a HUGE and extremely detailed TR with pics and such when I come back.

Well, I'm off to PKD in approximately 11 hours! Hopefully I will get to BGW instead tomorrow, but it doesn't matter that much at all.
