| Six Flags New Orleans This is the first park I've ever been to and REALLY didn't like. I hate to be negative, but there is no other choice. I added the park to my list and noticed very few from this forum have been there. We decided to catch some warm weather and decided to give this park a try, as we usually go to SFKK as our first of the year. (our closest park is SFGAm) We thought it would be great since it opened earlier. We knew the park was very small from the start, but we were getting early bonus rides, right? Bad choice.
The season pass processing took over an hour-only 4 cameras were open out of 9 or 10.
They only had one train running for Batman. I've never seen that with other Batmans before, even on the cold and nasty days. The wait was 1 1/2 hours. The park wasn't really crowded, but wasn't empty and still only one train.
Next we went to Zydeco Scream, a Vekoma boomerang. I really should finish my ride list some time to see how many I've been on.
Other than the wait, those rides were as good as expected since they were clones.
Then Jester, nothing worth writing about. It was run backwards and I really only like that if you can ride it both ways.
Now on to the misery of Mega Zeph. It is a wooden track with steel structure. The exact opposite of Gemini at CP. This is the ONLY ride I've ever prayed for the end, at the same time, hoping none of us would be paralyzed. Rough is too mild a term for this ride. We were there 3/25 and I'm still sore and have a couple bruises. The only other battle scars I've ever had was sore shoulders from riding Shockwave too many times when the park was almost empty, and that was 17 times in one day (and add on the other rides at SFGAm with shoulder harness). My brother's girlfriend is wearing a knee brace after riding it.
My kids, 11 and 13, even asked to leave because they were so disappointed.(without request for junkfood or games--yeah, they were not happy)
I can't tell you a thing about the food, since all we wanted to do was leave. We don't ride many rides other than coasters, but rode none here since we were already sore. I will give a little credit to the park-it was very clean.
It was such a let down after all the anticipation of the first rides of the year. We'd planned going a little each day it was open, but didn't go back. Lucky it was warm enough to enjoy the pool.
So anyway, even if you're already in New Orleans or driving by-I don't recommend going to this park. I'm so glad SFKK opens this weekend, and SFGAm is only a little longer wait til 4/30! |
