SFGadv 7.21.05

I'm off to yet another park and need some tips.

Hotel no further than 10 miles from the park and under $70.
Discount tickets.
Good restruants outside the park.
Tips on what to ride right away.
Finally what are the crowds like in late july on weekedays.
I will be spending 2 days at the park, Maybe.

NOTE: I will not be going if KK is not open by then.

1. You can do the park in a day.
2. I don't know what the crowds will be like.
3. I take day trips there, so I wouldn't know of any hotels there.

Post a trip report from your last one .

Kingda Ka will not be open by then, so hold off the trip for another month...........or year.

Reason for saying this is because as of today, they have not fixed it yet, because the parts have not arrived. Even if it gets fixed in the next week, the ride will need togo through lots of testing and ispections before the ride can open. And if you'll remember, inspections took a very long time last time, and wih the accident as the cause, they will probably take even longer.

KK will not be open by then. Maybe you should hold off a month. Just don't go during Fright Fest.

If you do go:

Hotels: I don't stay over so I don't know prices. There are alot of small motels in the area. I don't know of any big hotels though.

Food: Don't eat in the park. There is nothing big in the are but there are the following. McDonalds, KFC, some family resteraunt that I have not been to, Wawa, Food court type thing with decent resteraunts, Pizza shops all along the road.
The food court has a very nice pizza shop, a brand new bar, a mexican resteraunt, an ice cream place, and paintball.

Tickets: I have a season pass so I don't buy tickets. The local food stores probably have tickets. Ebay has tickets for sale. If you are going for two days, get a twicket at the end of the first day. It is 12 dollars and is good for another days entry.

Crowds: In the summer it will be crowded. If KK is open the other rides are not bad. I have heard that Q Bot is a great deal but I don't use it. And if you have the money, get the V.I.P pass.

Rides: If KK is open, do that first. Wait any amount of time for it because it is worth it. Nitro's line moves incredibly fast. If it is full it may only be a 30 minute wait. If you feel the need to ride Superman, do so. The line will be long and it is not that great of a ride. Medusa is a great ride and the wait is usually fairly short. Chiller is a very fun ride but may have a long line.

In order I would do Kingda Ka, Rolling Thunder(on the way to Medusa), Medusa, Superman(if you want to), Chiller, Batman, Nitro(more than once). Throw in any flats and shows in between the coasters. Once you get the coasters out of the way enjoy the smaller rides. Mentionable flats and smaller rides are: Cows, Skull Mountain, Congo Rapids(will get wet).

Where to sit on rides. Kingda Ka: MUST sit in the front. It is well worth the extra 20 minutes.
Rolling Thunder: Sit in the front of a car for a smooth ride and the back of a car for a bumpy ride(not train, car). The back of the train, front of the car, is more fun.
Medusa: Front row gives some awesome foot choppers throughout the ride. Back row gives an incredible drop and nice speed. Only ride the front if there is not a long line.
Superman: Ride the back row. The front row is fun but the back row produces great G's in the pretzel loop.
Chiller: If Batman is open ride that, if not ride Robin. The front is the best but might have a longer wait. It is up to you on this one.
Batman: The Ride: Front row is fun and you get some nice close calls. Back row has more forces and feels faster.
Nitro: The front is very fun. You feel all of the wind and cou an see very far from the top. It also hang you over the top which is very cool. The back has incredible airtime and speed. Going over the first drop in the back is absolutely amazing. Overall I usually ride the back because the front has a longer ait and I have been on it plenty of times before. You should be able to ride both though.
Skull Mountain: Ride the back. It is surprising, that's all I'll say.

Anyway, have a great time at the park. Hope that helped.

No problem. KK will most likely be open by September if not a bit sooner. You may want to wait until next year and possibly ride an Intamin woodie!

Go to CP. Or do a Hershey, Kneobles, DP trip. If you have the time and money, go to SFNE. Or go to SFA which is closer to you then the rest.

Dude, go ride Sheikra. It is worth the drive, and BGT can easily be done in one day. The longest I waited in line for Sheikra was 20 minutes.

After further analasys of RT today, I have to change what I previously said. I sat both in the front and the back today. The front was awesome and I got incredible airtime. The back did not give nearly as much airtime. It was still fun but I have changed my preverence to the front for this one.

Well, it's not open, although construction has been spotted. You picked a bordeline date, and most likely, Murphy's law will be put in place: If you go, i's closed, if you don't it's open. It's a toughy. But you know, next year we're getting somethin as well, so holding off a year wouldn't be bad either.

Well it looks like i'll never go to Dollywood. As you all know i changed my trip to DW since KK was not open and now this is the 3rd DW trip i have had to cancel in the last 2 years cause for some reason the day before i leave i get really sick.

Maybe i'm just not supposed to go. Oh well Maybe next year after SFGADV.

Thanks again for all the tips guys, i'll be sure to dig this thread up next year before i go.
