MIAdv June 8th

Day 5 (the 8th) - Michigan's Adventure - Muskegon Michigan

MI Adventures had been a park I really wanted to go to for some time.
But never wanted to go "out of my way" for. And I'm glad I didn't. The
park let me down. It's just too small… It has so much room to add new
things but the park just hasn't…. And then how you can walk 80% of the
way around the lake… then the path ends and you have to walk all the
way back….. The park is also very bland…
On the way to the park we passed some little storybook looking park
that had a Dragon Wagon… To bad we didn't get to go… Also on the way
one of the vans got pulled over for speeding… yay…….

Once we got to the park and saw Timbers… Mmmm… Timbers looks so cool
from the parking lot… I got my season pass (for use at Dorney later
this summer) I walked over to the mouse first.

Mad Mouse
Type – Steel
Year – 1999
Kind – Mouse

Yeah so this was my first Arrow made mad mouse coaster…. The park ran
way to many trains on the ride… There would be a car full of riders in
the station waiting to go up the lift... one loading… one unloading...
and one with riders waiting to be unloaded… just in the station...
Then there would be up to 3 sitting in the end blocks… way to stack
cars MIAdv…

Well the ride itself wasn't too great. The turns have some banking to
them but trims were not used much on the top parts. At the end the
ride has a little trick track part. It would be fun if the cars took
it a bit faster. The seatbelt on the ride kills any fun. I really hate
the "self suck" seatbelts... and for some reason this mouse has
them…….

After the mouse I went on the wheel so I could get some photos and
stuff. Then I walked around and found the rest of the group… They were
on corkscrew when I was taking photos of it... So I walked with Deka
over to Wildcat… and took a ride

Wolverine Wildcat
Type – Wood
Year - 1988
Kind - Double Out-n-Back

I didn't even know this ride had a tunnel... But it does…. The ride is
fun and has some air time. It sits along side the "big" lake in the
park so it looks nice. The ride also has a lot of turning hills so you
get lat-air which is odd… I guess. …

After that Deka needed to ride the Mad Mouse before she could ride
Timbers for some reason…I don't know why… So I went back on it with
her. After that we split up and I went down to the kiddie rides for
some reason. I guess I just forgot about Timbers… I went down to
Zoomer and got in the line that it didn't have…

Zach's Zoomer
Type – Wood
Year – 1994
Kind – Family

The ride didn't have any line so I took the front seat…. The ride is
small but it's a lot of fun for its size. It's just like the kiddie
woods that the paramount parks have. But it's still a nice little
ride.

After that I walked over to the Big Dipper coaster. The parks other
kid coaster... this is where I heard for the first time the worst song
ever made…. The Michigan's Adventure THEME SONG!...What a horrible
song… And it's just looped nonstop next to the big dipper... main
gate…. Log ride... and Sea Dragon…… It goes something like "LETS ALL
GO TO MIIICHAHGANS ADDVVEnTAch!" over and over and over… Oh god why
won't it stop….

Big Dipper
Type – Steel
Year – 1999
Kind – Kiddie

The ride had no line and I was the only one on it... So I took the
front seat… The ride gives 2 laps around... But once my 2 laps were
over... The op wouldn't let me off... he just kept me in the train for
about a minute... Then sent me around 2 more times for some reason….
He said like "Want to get off…" and I was all "…yeah…." And he was all
"TO BAD!" and sent me around some more…

After I was let off the Dipper I made my way to Timbers but I hit
Corkscrew on the way. Once I got into the station I found that I was
the ONLY one in line for the ride… yay "ERT". The train and station
set up for this ride is like what Canobie use to have on its
corkscrew... But unlike at Canobie... MI Adventure hasn't fixed it…
Each car has to have the OTSRs locked and unlocked one car at a time…
The ride also doesn't run as good as Canobies… But it looks much
nicer. I like the way the colors "change" in the loops.

So now that I had done all the other coasters in the park there was
just one thing left to do... Spend the next 5 hours in the park on
Timbers…. The only reason I wanted to go to the park for….. Aww… why
couldn't it have been better…

Shivering Timbers!
Type – Wood
Year – 1998
Kind – Out-N-Back

Timbers is an amazing ride... Just looking at it is amazing too. Its
just so big and long…When you get to the top of the lift sitting in
the front seat the view is just the greatest thing ever.. So many big
hills in front of you... and then you drop….. The ride has air time on
every hill and the only 3 flaws I found on the ride would be the flat
track after then turn around. It looks like the ride was going to have
a MCBR in that spot but it was never put in. The other 2 things I
didn't like was the trick track part… And the helix. The ride is
great and all... But it just seemed to lack in the end. The ride op
for this ride was funny... He kept saying on the rides mic…That
Timbers was "The NUMBER ONE COASTER outside of the state of CT" and
"THE #1 Ranked wood coaster not named Boulder Dash!"… I found this
very funny…

Now that I was done with the park... And still had hours before we
left... I went back and rode Wildcat a few more times then timbers
some more... I did a few of the flats... The swings, Thunderbolt,
Trabant … And then more Timbers…. I also went on Corkscrew once more…
Took a walk almost all the way around the lake to take photos… I went
on the train… The parks Train is VERY random… they have sooo much room
and they just plopped the ride in some filed and put a small loop for
the track

MiAdv also ran its flat worst then any other park I have ever been to…
They ran its Thunder Bolt slower then ANY I had been on… Its Yo-Yo was
ok I guess…. But god damn its Trabant…. That tilted all of 20* and
maybe got 4 RPMs… WTF is up with that….

Over all MI adventures was a let down... If only Cedar Fair would put
some more money into the park and added a big steel coaster it could
be such a nice place…They also need to finish off the loop around the
lake… In the end I almost wish we didn't go to the park…

Corkscrews... Corkscrew..

Zoomers first drop.

Timbers 2nd hill

Timbers first drop...

Sorry to hear that it was such a let down. Michigans Adventure has a special place in my heart being my first and home park. However when I look at it objectively MiA is the worst of 7 parks I've been to. Maybe because 3 of those parks were absolutely wonderful (Cedar Point, Indiana Beach, Hersheypark) and the other three (SFA, SFGAmer and PKD) were all good coorporate places that seemed to be pretty well loved by locals.

MiA needs to get the front and rear of the park connected together and stop expanding the damn water park and start adding real rides. A couple intense flats and an Intamin Hyper would do amazing things for the entertainment value there. Sure Shivering Timbers is one of the better rides around but it just can't fill a day. And even it has lost some for me because it's all floater air. I've become an ejector freak thanks to S-ROS (SFA), Raging Bull and Cornball Express and while floater is great ST could afford to have at least a couple moments of "Holy @#*&!" airtime.

Oh, and the train is just funny right now. lmao. I'm sure it'll become something halfway decent as the park expands and they add a 2nd station farther back in the park somewhere.

MiA sucks now, sure. But just imagine what it'll be like in 20 years. That's what excites me about this place, it has a future and the room to really take advantage of that.
