| SFSTl June 11th
Day 8 (the 11th) - Six Flags St. Louis - Eureka Missouri (By far the worst day of the trip) Yeah… So this day just started bad and ended that way too… So we hit the road to SFStl…. And get stuck in traffic for some time… yay… great way to start the day… On the way to the park we went past the St. Louis Arch… It looked cool I guess. Once we started to get close to the park... It got grayer and grayer... Until it started to rain and even thunder a bit... We got to the parking lot in a big thunder storm… So without even going in the lot we stopped at some fast food/gas station next to the parking lot and got food… By the time we were done the rain had stopped... So we went in the park. The first thing in the park I went to was Batman The Ride…. It had a long line… But I still waited it out… The line was very long and used almost all of the switch backs… but it kept moving so it wasn't too bad... The only part of the line that sucked was the first part when you're just standing in the hot sun…..As soon as the rain stopped the sun came back out and made everything way to hot.. And wet feeling…. It sucked… Batman The Ride Type – Steel Year – 1995 Kind – BTR (mirrored) Yay for my first "backwards" BTR… The ride is just like any of the other BTR coasters… Its has the "park" part and then "junk yard" part. It had the crashed car but the water was off (SFGAms in the only one I have ever seen on) The station is also like the others… The ride is the same layout too but it's mirrored so where the others going counter clockwise this one goes clockwise… or to the right….. The zero-g roll also goes the other way around so that's fun…. The ride doesn't seem to be as force full as others I have been on. But it's still got a lot of force and is a great ride. After that me and Deka walked around a bit... She got some food so that took some time…After she had her food and stuff we walked up the hill to Ninja. I had read about how this coaster has one of the best head choppers around... To bad I didn't really see it from the back seat… Oh well… Maybe next time… If I ever go back to the crappy park… Ninja Type – Steel Year – 1989 Kind – Looper I took my one ride on ninja in the front row of the back car… After pulling down the way to big OTSR… The ride started… When you get to the dip at the top of the lift hill... For some reason this ones feels bigger then most so you get some pop air time going over it in the back… After a turn you go into the loop then the sidewinder... After that is where this "amazing" chopper is/should be… But I didn't see it I guess… After that you turn into the MCBR… I can now say I have been on a SF coaster with a MCBR where they DIDN'T kill the ride on it! The drop of the MCBR has some air... then you make a turn into the 2 corkscrews and then a nice low helix... then it's over… yay….. Over all it isn't that bad of a ride and didn't bang me much… Just once or twice… After that me and Deka got lost a little bit on our way to the back of the park… After a few minutes we got to River King some how… it only had a 2 train wait for the front seat… So I waited it out... This would end up being the only front seat ride I took at the park River King Mine Train Type – Steel Year – 1971 Kind – Mine Train As far as mine rides go this one is fun. It started to rain as we got in line for it... But by the time we got on it had stopped… I don't really remember much of the ride as I was to hot and needed something to drink... It was more of a "I need to ride it for the count" and not for fun… I remember it had a tunnel and also had a nice view of Ninja… But I was just in to much of a rush to get on all the other coasters in the park before we had to go… After that we kept going up hill to the back of the park… We met up with 2 other trekkers who had just been kicked out of Boss's line as the ride had went down….. The 4 of us made our way up the hill to Screamin' Eagle… I had wanted to ride this coaster for a few years now but it wasn't as high on my list as other coasters on the trip (Raven [letdown] Hades Avalanche and Boss [more on that later….]) Screamin' Eagle Type – Wood Year – 1976 Kind – Out-N-Back I had read that this ride is fun and has lots of air time... And the 3rd drop was the longest on the ride and the best… Well what I had heard was wrong... Well... not the drop part… I took the front seat of the back car and was off… The turn from the lift to first drop is cool... First drop... no air… 2nd drop no air... 3rd drop (longest) no air... Hmmm where's the air time? The ride is a lot longer then I though it was and was fun... But for some reason doesn't have any airtime! I asked the 2 other trekkers we rode with (who sat more toward the front) if they got air... Both said "nope"… I asked Deka if she got air… "nope"… Hmmmm……. After getting off Eagle… I could still see a train on Boss sitting on the lift... So it was still down… I went down to ride Xcalibur. I had never been on an Evolution ride… But 2 parks I have been to had had them... But were gone when I went or closed… I had seen videos of how they can run and what they can do… To bad SFStl sucks at running it… All they do is one turn…. Go over the top once and then come right back down... and its over… It takes the park much longer to load the ride then for the rides cycle….. After getting off that mad… I looked over and Boss was running... with people! The last of the "big 3" rides on the trip I really wanted to ride was now open… So I ran down to it…. The line for Boss is odd… it doesn't have switch backs or anything... you just walk forever on the bridge over the go karts to get to the station… When in the line for Boss I saw something I had never seen in my life…. As I watched the Sky Coaster going up… after the "3-2-1 FLY!" part… They didn't pull… after a few mins of just hanging at the top…. The 3 rider's were lowered back to the ground... Without ever pulling! I had never seen this before... And didn't even know they could do it… I thought once you went up you had to pull... Hmm… After watching some more it looked like they took one rider off and sent the other 2 back up where they did pull and ride the thing and other people in the Boss line who were watching clapped at the riders…… odd... BOSS Type – Wood Year – 2000 Kind – "Monster Woodie" I had wanted to ride Boss from the first time I saw the ride art work in 1999… And now I could get to ride it… With more storm clouds rolling in… and it getting darker and darker by the minutes... I just grabbed the first seat I saw... It was a middle car :-\ . Boss is a great ride and runs really well... It has some good air time... But the ride SUCKS ASS because of the G-Trains… My god what the hell was Gerstlauer thinking… this ride would be a "world class" ride... But its trains really hold it back. After getting my legs bashed around on Boss... And having my not so fun "Jackhammer: The Ride" on it… The ride closed shortly after I got off... As the Thunder Storms were back... Everything closed……. And I mean... Everything. So now with all the rides being closed… We just walked around… We went up to Mr. Freeze knowing it would be closed... As there was lighting… But maybe we could still get in line for it… But no... We couldn't… the line had been roped off with staff at the entrance… So we kept going down hill until we made our way into the kiddie land... where the parks last coaster was… Acme Gravity Powered Roller Ride…Yeah they had the under __ inches rule on the ride... I asked it I could ride if I went with a kid and stuff like that but still no… So I just took a few photos of it… The first train I saw go past had 4 rows with 0 kids in it... I don't see why they couldn't just let me sit in one of them... They had to run the ride anyways... By now I was done with this crap hole… We had all of 20 minutes left at the park and it was still raining hard and yet Deka was still "Lets go to freeze and see if it's open!" As if it would….. And even if it was we wouldn't have had time… SUCKAGE After only spending all of 3 hours in the park and only getting on 5 of the coasters… I can now say that Six Flags St. Louis is right up there with SFDL as one of the crappyest parks I have ever been to. I might have liked the park better if it wasn't 45,000*s out and muggy with off and on thunder storms… And maybe if I had spent a day at it and not just a few hours… But as of now I would not go back to the park anytime soon……. After going off from SFStl we all got in the vans and made our way down to Branson… As soon as we got out of the parking lot for SFStl the rain stopped… And we could see rides going once more….. Thank god for the next day... After a very crappy day at Six Flags… Branson day was one of... If not the best day of the trip…. BTR... ![]() Ninjas turn ![]() SEE! I did ride mine train....lol ![]() Xcalibur... ![]() Freeze.... That I didnt get to ride.... |

Oh, I'm sorry that you went there on a rainy/bad day. I usually have fun every time I go.

Yeah. I bet I would have liked the park if I didnt have to rush as much as I did.. And also if I had got to ride everything. I really really wanted to ride Freeze... And I would have liked to have gone on the wheel (for photos..)

What day did you go? The 22nd? Just wondering, plus for Boss, only good seats are the front car and back car. I have noticed it is a lot rougher in the middle seats as well. I would definilty say to give this park a second shot, its really a well-run park imo. |

Well, depressing TR for a average park. I've been to SFStl countless times but I still love it. I agree that had you not been rushed, it would have been much more enjoyable. Freeze isn't nothing to be sad about. It seems slow and the top hat is the best part. If you didn't like B:TR's line, you'd hate Freeze. Its ALL in the sun and half the time the unreliable airconditing never works, and its CRAMPED! Matts right, The Boss is only worth the ride in the front or back. Ninja is the only great Arrow I've ridden. The headchopper is actually the chain return. It works well if you know its there. Front seat especially cause you see if coming at eye level half-way through the dive loop. I never knew why people were so impressed with Eagle either. I only feel minimal airtime, not even floater. The best part of that ride is the tree overhanging the track on the 3rd drop or the brake run. As far as parks go, SFStl is the best I've been to yet. Its the right size and layout but the coasters are still relatively close together. SFGAm is one of the worst SF parks I've been to. Horrible crowds and types of people, spread-out coasters and some of the coasters have really slow OPs. Heres the head chopper and where it was. Last edited by jimths08; 07-26-2005 at 08:11 PM. |
