| | | Sfeg ok, every year my family goes on a vacation. my parents pick the location, i pick the amusement park. we're going to Colorado, so of course, we're goin to Elitch Gardens. Now, as small as this park is, I was wondering if anybody had any tips, like is the waterpark worth goin to? is it included in the price of admission? I believe we are leaving the 10th and goin to SF on the 18th of August.
thanks

| | | I went back in 2002. The waterpark is included with the price of admission.
It has all the basic rides, nothing out of the ordinary. Tubes, wave pool, speed slides, lazy river and so on.
The park is really small, but they did fit in some decent coasters in.
Twister II (Wooden twister) was my personal favorite.
Mind Eraser is pretty good. (A Vekoma inverted)
Sidewinder just shoots you out - loop- return backwards (nothing too exciting)
The flying coaster was pretty weak IMO. It like a kiddie coaster compared to S:UF or X-Flight
And of course your basic boomerang.
I heard they have a new one called Half Pipe that was not there when I went.
All of the lines were not bad at all, 15 minutes or so, but I went during a week day.
Off topic-
Stan Checketts? Is'nt he part of S&S Power?

| | I thought that name sounded familar.
Half Pipe looks crazy. The (train?) looks like a big snowboard,
and the cars spin. Should be alot of fun.
Hope you have a great time.
But, then again, how can you not when you are at an amusement park.

| | You should tell your family you need two days of amusement park fun so you can go to Lakeside park as well. They have a really awesome looking woodie, Cyclone, from 1940.
I haven't been to SFEG myself so I can't give any advice or say anything other then have a good time, and be sure to write a trip report when you get back that describes how good/bad Twister II is.

| | | I don't know about the "rep".
I rode Twister about 5 times, front-back-middle, IMO it was not "rough"
If I remember right, you get some decent air in the back seat.

| | | Skip it. You'll be in what's probably the most beautiful state in the contiguous 48 states... and Elitch Gardens is an absolute hole. Spend some time at Lakeside instead. Then go visit the mountains.

| | people i dont care if its not the best park around, Im going. this thread is about travel trips, not to discourage me from going. my family doesnt just spontaneously change our plans for an amusement park. You guys come off as pessimests to me. Im going for the love of coasters, not to be riding the best ones around. I dont know about you guys, (but i can guess that you do)but i dont need every ride I go on to be perfect. Quote: |
