7/17 Dorney Park Trip

I woke up at 7:30 and loaded the car up for the drive to Dorney Park. At around 7:45 we drove to the nearby bagel shop and got breakfast. We hopped back in the car and made our way out of the Jersey Shore at around 8:00. We hit some traffic at 9:00 which stopped us for around 15 minutes and then we were fine and got to the parking lot at 10:00.

We paid for parking then hopped out and made our way to the gate. We paid and met up with our group. There was around 20 people.

First thing we ran to Talon. We took the 2nd row and started. By the way they were the nicest ride ops ever. My friend dropped a bag and everything in there fell out when he was putting it in the locker things. Two of the ops quickly scooped them and up and helped him out. We got on the ride and wow this is underrated. The signs on the way up were unique and it had great loops and corkscrews. I personally think its better then Alpengist. It was a great ride.

Next we quickly hopped on Hydra and took fourth row. The jojo roll in the beginning was nice. I heard bad reviews about it but I learned to not believe it until I see it. This floorless coaster was not nearly as great as Talon but still a good coaster.

After that, some people wanted to ride the flume ride but my friends and I did not feel like getting wet so early. We rode front row on Hydra. The beginning was great but then all of us got a strange dizzy feeling.

When everyone got back we rode Meteor. It was decent because I love going upside down. The only problem was the restraint was painful. We used free drink coupons which we got from a Subway days before near my house. We sat down for a few minutes.

When we were ready we walked over to Steel Force. We hopped right on and took third row. After riding Nitro five times the day before, this felt like nothing. I still enjoyed it because it is a little more bumpier and the tunnels are cool.

Soon after, we rode Thunderhawk. We heard it was painful but it was actually to me a hidden gem in the park. I went in the front row and it was really bumpy which I liked and it wasn't painful for me. Others complained but I liked it.

Next it was time for Laser. It was assigned seating and just to my luck we missed front row by one spot. Instead we ended up with back row. It was bumpy and I hit my head a few times. I liked Thunderhawk better. Some poor guy tripped on the stairs and bruised his knees badly. He was ok though.

We rode Dominator next and got on the drop tower. It was awesome.

It was time for lunch so I got a burger and pepsi from the Coaster Drive-In. It was good.

While we were waiting we hopped on the back row of Talon which was good but not as good as the second row was. When everyone was done we went over to the water park. We stayed for three hours and rode the speed slides about 20 times. Wildriver Adventure 3 times. Patriot's Plunge 4 times. ( Two on Blue, One on Red, and One on White)
Aquablast 1 time. And a bunch of others a lot of times. We even did the lily pads 15 times and I made it 14 times. The Only time I didn't was when this kid jumped back onto mine and we both slipped in. My friend didn't make it at all.

When we got back to the theme park we rode front row on Talon which had to be the best coaster of its type in the world. Actually I don't know. Montu might be a little better.

We were going to leave soon so we rode Hangtime, the Wild Mouse, and the swinging thing you pay 5 bucks for just for credit.

We went home and it was a great day.

Dorney Park is very clean and has no lines. It has great rides and another great thing is the theme park and water park for just one price. I will go again next year!!!!

Sounds like you had a good time. I really need to get up to PA for Knoebels, Dorney, Hershey, and Kennywood; they all sound like great parks.

You think Talon is the best inverted? Have you ridden Raptor or Top Gun?

^ I don't beleive you have ever ridden Talon. You are not in a position to be calling other coasters better than it.

But back on to the topic. Glad you had fun at Dorney. I have never eaten at Coaster's but I hear it is good. When I went in June the waterpark had huge lines so I only rode a few slides, but as usual the Dorney Park side was pretty much empty. Walked onto Hydra 6 times.

I have ridden Talon. What made you think that I haven't?

Willski200- Yeah I would recommend checking out those four parks. Dorney and Hershey are my favorites there but Knobels and Kennywood are great too.

Magnum_man1989- I have ridden Raptor which I think is aging a bit but I have not ridden Top Gun yet. When I get around to it I will. I believe Montu and Hulk have a slight edge. I would put Talon 3rd.

1. Hulk
2. Montu
3. Talon
4. Kumba
5. Alpengist

Thats my top 5.

HPStormrunner22- I probably could have gotten on Hydra and Talon 10 times each but my group didn't feel like it.

Talon is a great ride. Disagree about it being better than Alpengeist... which is by far the best inverted coaster in the US in my opinion.

Hydra's a great ride if you get in the front seat, not as good anywhere else.

I really enjoyed the back seat on Hydra, Not as much as the front but the back still made for an awsome ride.

One of those ops was TN member slnewbus, He works at Talon, and he helped your friend out. So, thank him for being so helpful.

I think that Alpengeist is better than Talon, by a little bit. It just has more force. I think if Talon had one more inversion, or some other really cool element, I'd like it better. I also like the signs on the way up. They get your blood pumping before you hit the top.
