Holiday Park - 28.7.05

While sitting here bored, I have decided to write a trip report. Last week, I convinced my friend to drive me to Holiday Park in Haßloch, Germany. We woke up and proceeded to drive 3 and a half hours out to the park. It seemed like a nice park, and parking was only about $3.

After visiting the bathroom, we headed off to the coaster that was supposed to be the best coaster in the world, Expedition GeForce. After waiting for an hour and meeting some other Americans, we were finally on the ride. Sitting in the second to last row, we headed up the very quick (although it still didn't seem as fast as the lesser Force's) lift. Wow. This ride is awesome. Airtime everywhere, twists and turns, and it's all very smooth. The trains fly over the hills and the twisting drop is just so awesome.

We continued walking thorugh the park and we eventually got to a very big log flume named Teufelsfässer. As it was hot outside at the time, we elected to get on. This is a pretty cool flume. The final drop is quite tall and features a double dip.

After eating, we decided to ride their huss swinging ship which was quite fun. We also went on Donnerfluss (Thunder River) and Bounty Tower (a Huss Condor) which were also pretty fun. The rapids ride wasn't too wet, though.

Eventually, we got around to Free Fall Tower, which seemed quite odd. Like it used to be a 6-sided tower, but they took off 3 sides. It's an Intamin Giant Drop, and like all Intamin drop rides, it was fun as hell. They even took your picture at the top, although I didn't buy it.

We went on Superwirbel at one point during the day. This is a transportable Vekoma. That is all I have or need to say about it.

After riding EGF a few more times and some boat ride which my friend informs me was about the different fairy tales of the German speaking countries (didn't make a bit of sense to me, as there were no words), as well as me buying a 50 Euro souvenir that I shouldn't have, we left and drove back 3 hours to his house.

Overall, I think it is a cool park, and EGF is such a great coaster, but I kept wondering how a small park like that could have ever been able to spare the money for it. If you're ever near the park, you should go, if only to ride der "Besten Achterbahn zur Welt!"
