Coney Island

Who: Dad, me
When: 8/12/05
weather: very hot

It took over an hour to get to the park by Subway. It looks like a mini NY State Fair (the cleanliness and nature) My first ride was Dante's Inferno.

Dante's Inferno: 6.9/10 It was okay, but nothing too special. The line was very short. Nothing much else to say. Next was Power Surge.

Power Surge: 7.7/10 It was fun, but it threw me around alot, and the restraints weren't the most comfortable in the world. It was the first of it's kind I ever rode. Very interesting. Zamperla apparently makes some cool rides. Then I went on Break Dance.

Break Dance: 8.5/10 It was fun. The music it played was quite loud, and the ride was fun. It was the most laterally forceful ride I ever rode... ever. It really whipped you around! It ruled! Then I went on the legendary Cyclone.

Cyclone: 8.5/10 A very classic ride. I rode it in seat 1.4 the first time, and I discovered it was way more painful than I anticipated. but it manages to tie with Seabreeze's Jack Rabbit for most classic coaster award. Then was Top Spin.

Top Spin:9/10 i liked this ride alot, but my thighs were in pain. The thing flipped me 7 times consecutively, a record, beating SFDL's by 2 flips. Then I knew I was gonna get wet, but I didn't know how much. I got cooled down but I didn't like it when the water was shooting straight up into my nose. Then I found I had enough time for one more ride so I went on Cyclone again, this time front seat. I only spent 80 minutes there, but it was really fun. (I only had half a day before eating at a fancy Italian restaurant and then seeing Wicked right after.)

Yes the Cyclone is pretty rough but always gives a good, but short ride that ends up being worth the 5 bucks that you pay to get on.

I just went a day before you on Aug. 11. I looked for parking for over a half hour. I first did the Big Apple kiddie coaster with the turntable loading station. Then I went next door to Deno's Wonder Wheel Park to do Sea Serpent and the Wonder Wheel. Afterwards I went back to Astroland to do the Cyclone. It's great that each car is highly cushioned because it's such a powerful punch that ride delivers. Going down on some hills I could feel the car bend to the side slightly. It just roared through its course. I did not do Topspin 2 but I really liked its program. It does too many consecutive loops without twisting but I really like the last 3rd of the program where the gondola is held upside down as close to the ground that it can get. The only other Topspin I saw do this was the Strates Show Topspin. Its my favorite element of all time on a Topspin. I took a video of a cycle and it was well over 5 minutes. I was trying to keep a tight budget that night and didn't ride Topspin, oh well. I had a fun night @ Astroland/Deno's Wonder Wheel Park.
