Bgw 8/20-21

BGW Trip report Aug 20-21

Well, we left for Williamsburg as soon as I got home from work.I think it was about 7PM when we actaully got on the way there, after store stops, packing the car, etc. It was just hubby and I this time. As I said back in May, we got rained out on one day, so we had FOUR tickets with one day on them, meaning we had tix for Sat. AND Sun..(whoo hoo!) ANyway, we got to Williamsburg about 10PM and found a hotel to stay in(we were lucky all of the freshman's parents from William and Mary were in for some kind of college thing.) Anyway, we ate and off to bed for BGW..next day!

We got to BGW at 10am(was not aware England opened at 9:30,lol) and I wanted to ride DarkKastle so i told hubby we would wait until almost closing when the line would be lighter(so i thought..BIG mistake...but the line was horrendous all day) Anyway.. I rode The Big Bad Wolf, the Loch Ness Monster, and Alpie(my new fav coaster..hehe) and hubby rode the Roman Rapids with me(he doesnt ride much...lol...and NEVER coasters or DarKastle...pretty much if it goes fast or spins or anything, hes a no go). Got on Corkscrew Hill and nearly all the flat rides. I pretty much rode everything BUT DarKastle, becuase I waited til 9:30 and we made our way there and the line was LONGER than earlier..all the way out the castle gates and into the street. as I said before BIG mistake, lol. It was REALLY hot, so Pompeii and the Roman Rapids were espcially nice for a good drenching..lol.

Sunday... I pretty much repeated rides I had ridden the day before, but we got to BGW this time before Germany ever opened , so I was one of the first 50 or so in line for DarKastle as soon as they dropped the rope and Germany was open(it opened at 10:30...go figure) Sadly, i only got to ride it once, but what a ride it was! Everything was working, no blank screens, all of the effects worked nicely and the audio was really, really great and easy to understand , so you could follow the story. I had people in front of me and behind me who'd never been on it and I was telling them how great it was from riding it before and how much they'd love it. THey came off it with smiles and telling me I'd been right. Then awhile later after lunch in Grogans(a first for us, we usually eat in the Fest Haus) and the Budweiser Beer school I went to get on Nessie for the second time and lo and behold she was CLOSED... due to a storm approaching. Well, we decided to go on the train instead and I got to see the beginnings of the decorating for Howl-O-Scream along the train tracks( REALLY wicked cool!) and by the time we got back to Scotland the storm was in full force. So we found a covered smoking area and waited til the rain let up then went to the Globe Theatre to catch the Haunted Lighthouse show until the storm was over(which I was praying was soon becuase i did NOT want to leave..lol) Anyway, the storm blew over and I was off again to ride Nessie.

Well...I can say I have been really lucky to go to BGW twice this summer for the weekend. I came off of Nessie, and my hubby says..i got a surprise for you. SO he tells me that a CM was coming around the corner while he was waiting for me and accidentally knocked an empty trashcan over on him. So they say...since it rained today and you lost ime, and then this happened..when you leave tonight, go by Guest Realtions and give them your name and you will have two 1 day complimentary tix waiting for you..and took his name. I could NOT beleive it! I was so happy...so now guess what..I GET TO GO TO HOWL-O-SCREAM!!!! Whoo hoo! I have never been to BGW during that and we were thinking about going next year...but it got changed to THIS year thanks to the great people at BGW! A great thing to happen! So anyway, we hit the water rides again and a few flat rides, then my last ride of the night was the Wolf, and we caught the 1 Last Jamm show, picked up our packages at the Emporiam and went back to the hotel to bed. a GREAT weekend at BGW once again...

sounds like you had a great trip. i will hopefully be going back this week for my last trip of the summer before school starts and maybe make one last trip of the year for HOS. did you ever get to ride AC? i didn't see it mentioned in the TR. every time i've been this summer DarKastles line has been long but im actually satisfied with a long line just because i know the park is hopefully having a boost in attendance, which means more money, and then hopefully a new coaster soon! BGW always knows how to make their guests happy. anyways glad you had such a great trip!

All these TRs about BGW are making me jealous of those who live near Williamsburg. It seems like an awesome park. It's too bad that they don't have Drachen Fire anymore, which looked like one of the best steel loopers around before it was removed. Great report though!

Well its not something I'd like to discuss on the board..but I will say it was not the coaster itself, but the CMs who were running it that day. BGW is the best park I have been to yet, and I can't wait to go back to see Howl-o-Scream!
