Indiana Beach 8/27- a new coaster geek is minted!!!!

Wife, daughter and I went up this afternoon for an evening ride pass. Thanks to the ACE discount, we all got passes for a total of 31 bucks! We got there at 4, and the crowds were light, even with the overlap time between day and evening passes.

My daughter turned 5 just over a month ago. She has loved IB since last year. She will ride any flat that she's tall enough for, which is just about everything except Chaos. She's been looking forward to being tall enough to ride a coaster. I'd been following her growth closely, and Last night, the measurement told the tale- 44.25" tall- tall enough for Galaxi and Hoosier Hurricane.

We didn't tell her we were going to IB. She figured it out when we pulled into the parking lot.

We hit a few flats, then headed over to Galaxi. She was a bit nervous after I told her she was tall enough, but she didn't hesitate in getting on! Family tradition was kept- my first coaster ride was with My dad, on Bavarian Beetle at Kings Island, (Paramount only did movies back in those days) and the Beetle was an SDC Galaxi.

She loved it!

When we headed over toward Hurricane, she asked if she was big enough for that one, and ws tickled to learn that she was- we waited for the front seat, and she had a great time. She thought it was great to ride the coaster that dips under the suspension bridge. before the night was over, she'd done three laps each on Hurricane and Galaxi.

MrsFbama had surgery just a month ago, and her doctor cleared her on Thursday for flat rides, but wasn't real comfortable with her riding coasters, so I forbade her to ride coasters this trip. She still had a great time on the flats, and is looking forward to next year, when she'll be able to get her first ride on Cornball!

A few things to note-

Big props to the staff- every time we rode a coaster, they measured my daughter- nice to see the safety concern.

Chaos was running again- it was down during the ACE birthday bash at the beach.

Cornball is still a big overachiever. Got in several laps, including the required night rides. That thing is great during the day, but it really comes alive at night!!! Be sure to ride it in the back.

The scrambler at IB is the best I've ever ridden- fast, long cycle, and being over the water is a nice touch.

The crowd really thinned out after about 7 pm. Almost everything was walk-on or a one cycle wait. On Cornball, you could wait for the very back seat, and still be on every fourth cycle at the worst.

It's a great little park. It doesn't have the space or number of rides as a Cedar point, but there is a LOT of fun to be had there. And I can get my whole family in for the price to get one in at CP.

If you can swing it, you gotta get there next year. Next weekend is the final weekend for IB in 2005.

Wow, they close earlier than most parks. I hope to go here again next year.
